- Manchester Orchestra performing The River off of Mean Everything to Nothing on MySpace Transmissions
LYRICS:
I will fight the spirit
With a sword in my side
She found a way out
Crack my rib
Wait to die
I think I know you best when I sleep
I think I know everything
Me and my brothers
We have tongues sharp as knives
I found a way out
Make a noise, close your eyes
I think I talk to you best when I sing
I sing about almost everything
Oh god I need it
So let me see again
Take me to the river
And let me see again
Oh my god
Let me see again
Oh my god
Let me see again
Let me see again
Grace taught a debtor
Daily I'm strained to be
God how I feel it
Fetter pride to your feet
I'm gonna leave you the first chance I get
Oh god I need it
I was wrong again
Take me to the river
And make me clean again
Oh my god
Make me clean again
And oh my god
Let me see again
It’s 2022 and This song still gives me chills 🤘
No matter how much time goes by, this song will always electrify my entire body 🙏🏻🌹
2024*
It’s 2023 and it’s safe to say this turned out to be one of their most epic songs. ❤
This is perfection, even on MySpace.
Man, this takes me back to high school. Almost 10 years later and I revisit this video. Manchester Orchestra has gotten me through the good and bad times. Andy Hull and the crew are something else!
"Oh my God i'm Sorry! I was wrong again! Take me to the river and let me see again...." So beautiful.
My favorite songwriter of all time.
words cannot describe how incredible this song is. it comes close to bringing tears to my eyes.
The dueling drums absolutely makes the performance 1000 times more intense/amazing
The Og line up with Chris doubling drums will always be top tier Manchester Orchestra for me.
not as big of a Manchester Orchestra fan as I was when I first saw this, but I still absolutely love this performance.
I really think this song captures the intensity of the band. As a whole, they just go all out and it sounds great. Blasting this song is always amazing.
The greatest song of all time and what an epic rendition!!! ❤️🧘🏻♂️🤘🏼
Sorry if this offends...but fuck yes....I have just discovered these guys...at a time when i said God go ahead pick out something good for me to listen...I actually said to Jesus.."all right my man lets see what ya got..." and then put on something twenty one pilot related and forgot that I had challenged the Lord to blow me away musically...and I have tears streaming down my face in humble adoration of my God...
I remember hearing like a virgin losing a child and hating you guys. Then one day hearing pride and just something clicked. I love you guys and hope you keep making new stuff for a few more decades
This is a great song! I am really surprised it wasn't more popular. I think this is the best live performance I have ever seen. These guys kicked ass on this one!!
not my favourite song on the album, but this song live...WOW! Epic.
Disgustingly excited to see these boys in April!
simply perfect in every single damn way. every band should be like this. their energy is so fuckin awesome.
tearing up here, what an incredible song
Just saw them last night. What heavyness and powaaaaaa
three years later, i wish i had seen them when you did. man i was missing out
Andy is a lyrical God
perfection
Best performance I've ever seen,
This is what forced me to buy tickets to their next show
So glad I got youtube music. I fucking LOVE this version of The River!🖤
The drums at the beginning sound so good its like a drumgasm
Liči na bubanj? Kume!!! Nastavi učiti Lupajući po Loncima i nemoj promašiti koju notu npr -po ručki od lonca da kupiš -to je već žnj-mol bez dura ,
Exactly what I was thinking...I'd do anything to be sitting right in the middle of that jam session.
Words can't describe the emotion in that room. 5 stars.
How can you not like this?
So amazing!
Holy shit. New favorite band.
I can't stop listening to/singing this. Hope one day they write one more verse. ... It is finished.
So I’m not sure the true history of this song but as a recovering alcoholic, I feel like this song was written about recovery and relapse. It just fits so well.
2:21 is probably the most epic moment on youtube
Goddamn this band is absolutely amazing.
Why have not more people viewed this?
Absolutley Amazing!!! Will probably head down to the hi-fi bar to check these guys out while they're in Mlebourne.
dadgad timing is perfect
God, how i feel it
this actually made me cry. i love them.
Hearing the chorus bash back is always my favorite part. I get chills.
This is what enlightenment sounds like.
they do live tracking on their albums, that's why this is so good
holy frick that was good!
They have finally come to England :D seeing them in Manchester in April, haven't been this excited for a long time :)
Wonderful song about a redemption that will never come.
cant believe i just discovered these... :') stunning....
una de las mejores putas canciones que forman parte de mi existencia. me encanta esta version
I have watched this 10 times in a row... Whats up...
Fuck they are so amazing. Can not wait to see them, again, this time in Hollywood in May!
"i think i talk to you best when i sing"
Beaut' of a video, and a beaut' of a group.
Love, love, LOVE this powerful song!!!
I’m not crying, you’re crying!
what passionate guy, good song to share
MY God, this is simply amazing, it gives me chills!
So incredibly great live. It's just so massive and noisy, but just the perfect amount of underlying melody. Genius. I haven't heard much of the new drummer, but damn it, I will miss Jeremiah
mind blowing.. for sure.. love these guys..
Awesome... just. awesome.
this song is fucking brilliant.
simply amazing!
Just amazing
U are just great
Now THAT'S, a jam session.
Love love love
damn. cant stop watchin the video :D
Yep, it's a fender telecaster with the guts ripped out. It has 1 pickup and no tone control knobs haha. Pretty nuts
is beautifullllllllllll.
Well said, sir, well said.
is beautifullllllllllllllll
@SpartanM621 Whether bad or good, it works for me. He did stop a concert in Boston I was at when these kids were moshing and he was like "Guys, fucking seriously? I'm singing about God and stuff." Was marvelous. Hes probably a troubled man with regards to faith.
he hits the drums soo fucking hard!!!
Just to help you out. I believe the lyrics are "Grace taught a debtor, daily I strain to be. God how I feel it. Fetter pride to your feet"
my thoughts exactly! haha! great video though, love them
LET US NOT FORGET THE HARMONIZING AT 5:48 DONE BY THE BLACK (OR BLACK LOOKIN) DUDE. THAT DUDE HAS SKILL. AND ALSO A NAME. SORRY DUDE.
findanewgoddd
FREEMAN!
findanewgoddd too bad he's not in the band anymore :( only 2/5 of these members are still in the band
wow
live in dallas tonight
2:21 is for sure the most epic thing ever.
eight years later its still epic as its my first time hearing...
Absolute fucking perfection.
I cried
Oh my god, I can see again....
whooaa!!! double drums all the way!! what does it mean??
So intense!
Nice
I think this is better than the original.
i does not get any fucking better than this.
Cool
OMFG!
How does this have two dislikes, honestly? I can't comprehend.
I love you Andy
@TaylorKingMusic He is "religious" and his father was a pastor but that line from Pale Black Eye (from my understanding) is about how he turns less to God for whatever reason it may be. I don't think he is questioning his faith as much as he is questioning himself and if he really believes what he says he believes.
@7lemonsandwiggium saw the new drummer play with them live. He adds great dynamics.
that's a cool drum riff in the intro.
@TheBellamyist It actually is grace taught a debtor. I took it from the lyrics in the c.d. jacket. It's all good though.
The voice is amazing.. RESPECT....
Will you play in Germany/Austria at some point??
i think you talk to me best when you sing too
is this : Good " or Best Ever !!!
this is fuck amazing
epic
Did anyone else notice the creepy reflection in the window/glass at 3:47? XD
Epic 2 drummer ish
Benetan BIKAINA!!!
kept falling in rivers everytime I got drunk. had to give up drinking when I threw up my liver never liked it anyway. I may have grown it back by now but I only use it for medication now!
wow this THE band...
i love that song but i'm lookin for the video...i can't find it
its strange for a bands second album to kick the shit out of their first one, dont get me wrong, their first album blew my mind.
