The best preparation you can do is to be in alignment with God. All of your other preparations are also wise. There's a lot of money you have behind all tthat.God bless.
I am about to build one of these Ironridge designed ground mounts. The only problem I have with the design are those saddle clamps that hold the crosspipes. They are held on to the pier posts only by set screws! A bolted connection to the pier pipes would be better.
Its funny but I was starting on the solar back in Feb of 2020 and I thought: why don't I just clean out the old barn just enough to pour the concrete floor at the same time as the solar pour. Well that turned into a year of barn to shop conversion before I got back to the solar. Thanks!
Nice job on the cuts! Looked like a bit of a tedious job. To combine things is usually a good thing. But my friend, you need a steak & potato dinner the night before that project with the concrete. 😃
If the coop turns out like I am envisioning it, then they are going to be some pampered birds! Every project starts out perfect in your mind. Then you put it on paper and realize you have to make some compromises. Then you source the parts and make more compromises, Then you build it and make some mistakes. The more you plan and think through the entire process, the closer you get to what was in your mind at the start. Thanks!
I am at 29 degrees Latitude. I was shooting for around 25-30 degrees on the array but not too concerned about it. Come to think of it, I have not even checked to see what I ended up with. I have completed the project and I can tell you that this thing is cranking out so much power now that the batteries are fully charged by 9:30am and I am looking for things to plug in. Now I yell at the kids when they turn the lights off. :)
Hi man,best solar setup you have,how many meter high you have on back,front and what angle please,i like your mount and in spring i will do the same for my 12 panels. Thanks and happy new year!!
I measured them a bunch of different ways. Mainly, I measured off the same distance of rail on each side and then left to right until the diagonals matched.
As I recall... I measured and adjusted about 5000 times! from memory (take with a grain of salt) 1. level up the top bar at the right height 2. level up the bottom bar 3. connect a rail on each end 4. make sure the length of rail is the same on both sides That should pretty much do it. Note: I am building another one in a couple weeks so stay tuned

Yes, I remember thinking the same thing. Drilling all the way through and adding a 1/2" bolt would add some piece of mind. Thanks!

I live at 31 degrees and plan to go about 25-30 on a rigid array (mostly afternoon sun). Also siting mine to around 210 SSW.

I would have to go measure it but its roughly 20" at the front and 8' at the back. Its about 26-27 degrees. Thanks!
If I had been the one tightening those top caps I probably would have dropped the wrench in the hole at least twice on each post
Jerry, I only dropped it in the hole once. Got it with a magnet tied to a string. Had to cut that part out due to language issues... :)
