    My father had several John Deere two cylinder tractors including a 730, 720, 2-70's an R diesel, a model G and a model A. I love the sound of the two cylinder John Deere tractors especially the diesels. Watching these video's brings back some memories.

    The first tractor i ever drove was a john deere B when i was about 8 years old picking rocks..I pushed the clutch in hard and popped a wheelie cutting my mouth on the steering wheel..It was the best memory i have..

    Those 730s are a very enjoyable tractor to run. Love listening to the engine bark under load. Excellent horse power you got out of that.

    70 HP is very good, the one I drove nights after school for our neighbor dynoed 65 HP. I couldn’t tell ya if it “ turned up” or not but it pulled 4 16’s 10” deep in 3rd gear pretty good.

      I doubt you had your plow 10 inches deep more like 5 or 6

    I would love a 730 but for now i have a 48b that i bought when i was 13 but one winter she locked up on me so i need to tear her down but also i have my 520 that im 3rd gen owner. When 22 i got the worst call when i drove otr that dad died. He got carbon monoxided by the 520 as she wasnt running right and he was fussy with her and the barn door wasnt open enough. I got the carb rebuilt and she run top notch again

    Hey is every one got some diodes
    Burnt out ? Beautiful videos of restored tractors , ,but aren't we. missing the whole point of a Dynomometer ? It is like ripping out the last page of a good detective story . Let us see the numbers RPM ,torque, horsepower . The No Show leaves some of us bewildered , disappointed and somewhat insulted ,because the grand finally is a missing puzzle piece

      My dad had a 730. Going up hill, it would load up and blow black smoke and keep on pulling.

    59 horse power may not be a big deal, but I owned two that would pull four six teens forth gear corn stocks in Ohio hill country.

      My dad's 730 pulled 5 14s in ND wheat stubble. Uphill we would blow similar smoke, but it would keep pulling.

      59 hp was a big deal when they came out. the 830 with 70 hp was the king of the hill when it came out. my dad bought a jd 4000 in 1970 with 100 hp, at the time he thought that was all the power he would need. 5 years later he wished it had more. times keep evolving.

    I can tell by how youre running the dyno your numbers are inaccurate
    I do have a 720 diesel that put out a legit 74 hp on a dyno ran by a Deere dealer that knew how to operate it.
    That being said a D17 gas out in the field use to walk by it like it was in reverse, which was embarrassing

    How diesels used to smoke. They run much cleaner today. Same with power plants. Much cleaner. But government and environmentalists never stop with unreasonable demands.

    • @RJ1999x
      @RJ1999x 9 місяців тому

      They run cleaner because they're burning "diesel fuel" not no.2 furnace oil

      Sorry it was 70hp, I added to the comments below previously, around 1200 rpm. Working on getting better with adding that stuff, we do videos mostly for the sound enjoyment, if you have some tractor videos would love to see them
