LOL..... junk indeed. What a very, very well sorted racecar. The onboard at 2:16 tells the story. No drama, no overload, nothing. Just hook and go. Guy has his arm chillin' on the windowsill, doing 0 to 170+ in under 10 seconds. LMAO.... love it.
Far from junk in my personal opinion. An original split bumper camaro, pretty rare these days to find... It's in good shape for being over 45 years old.
Had one in the 80's bought it for $175, back then cars werent worth anything before assholes ruined the market. I put that car on a Blazer frame with a 550 hp 355 and raced it in the mudhops. Sold the blazer parts and broke even, except for the motor. Today $175 wont buy you a 1970 camaro front fender.
Or to see what they can pull. Stock vs stock... that Porsche would destroy that Camaro. You can mod the hell out of a Porche too to make it a drag car. Of course, if the track had a curve of went on for ten miles, we all know who’d win.
I love this car, and I'm a Ford guy. It leaves like a kitten and then comes alive like a lion, but inside the car, it's like a Sunday drive. Really cool car.
Imagine if you dial that thing in to launch hard and hook off the line. It would easily knock a full second off of your ET. I don't think there's too many people boosting ls7s, but apparently yours is a testament that they can hold boost. Nice sleeper!
Loving it ! Almost a spitting image of David Freiburger's F-bomb Camaro. Also I've been needing this, gives me motivation to try and get more done on my 80 Camaro, despite my epilepsy! Thanks again man
Love that body style I had a 78 Z28 drove it everyday for 9 years that thing would destroy anybody on the street with a few mods of course 350 with a 4-speed and a posi rear
Awesome sleeper. And finally someone who knows how to drive. And a car that appears to be very well sorted. I'm so sick of seeing people driving a car with turbos and listening to the darn thing banging the pop-off all the way down the track.
I thought about a ls7 swap but was told by many builders that the ls7 block is not as strong as a ls3. I'm looking into a r.h.s block for a stronger more ci build.
Try to get an aluminum block ls I don't care what you hear the aluminum block is stronger and if you ever decide to put liners in its a BEAST in its own right

Very cool ! ! The driver looked like he was on a Sunday drive ! !
Good thing about a little lag is it will not over power on take off and hook then all hell breaks loose about the 60' mark. I drove a new ecoboost the other day and it felt like a geo until you hit 2k rpm them it took off like a rocket. I'm really surprised by the power that little 2.0 makes I have drove V8's that didn't pull that hard. And this was a Lincoln MKZ not even a mustang.
no one will argue that parallel turbos are better than a sequential setup, but as to 2 same sized turbos, they only spool up slower than a single turbo setup if they haven't been set up properly. There is a reason that such engine building gurus as Gail Banks and the peeps at Nelson Racing Engines swear by the parallel turbo setup. If you do it right, it practically eliminates lag and will build power over a long curve. Don't believe me? Swing on over to the Nelson Racing Engines site and see for yourself. Would a sequential setup be better? Only if you can find room for the complicated tubing system. Would a single turbo system be better? Most likely not.
roger dodger Seriously Roger?? I was always impressed with their stuff but knew their costs were WAY UP THERE! But are you saying their stuff is no good? I dont think I could ever afford something this cool anyway but would still like to kbow what you think. Thanks
The Camaro had my full attention until I saw that 918. I'm not even a Porsche guy but wanted to see if it could run a 9 second pass like the magazines have reported.
can I just tell you that if I had this car and the current owner of this piece of 'JUNK' had a feather in his nose, we would both be tickled. I absolutely go crazy for anything that is certifiably sleeper. This hits the proverbial 'nail on the head'.
Loved this car, saw you at the event i was running in the 11.0 index class for shits and giggles since i wasnt able to get the car done in time. Wish the track would of been a little better to give for some better launches.
My Silverado will out run this thing!!!....to the 60 ft mark maybe. Hah! Love turbo cars but some of these "soft" launches leave something to be desired. Top end numbers always impress though.
Hey guys help me understand! At that first light with the red charger to the camaro's left, didnt he wait A LONG TIME at that green light?? If so, WHY??? I dont get it folks. Cool camaro by the way!!
I suspect this is a foot brake car i.e; no line lock, smallish cam, and larger pulleys. You never hear the car on the rev limiter and boost doesnt really kick in til sometime after 2000 rpm. But im just guessing based on observations....🤷🏻♂️
HowardSupra I think it would be light, but I also believe aerodynamics are overated at speeds below 200mph. But you could make the car fast if desired, the question is why.
real talk Personally I would make bumper stickers that say "I've been beaten by a prius" and anytime I raced someone negotiate it in so they have to put that on there car lol. beyond that it would just be a decent shell but only if there is enough room to cram a decent motor in it. Also don't discredit aero, there is a reason why companies have invested so much into research on it for fuel mileage and such.
Now here's a really dumb question; why do they turbocharge instead of supercharge? I always thought that turbos took more time to build up power than superchargers?
Sure they take more time to spool up, but in a drag race, that's not an issue. Superchargers are parasitic. They use horsepower to run. Turbos on the other hand are much less parasitic. They eat a lot less power to make power.
Whatever, i dont take personal the cars,,,I was just a comment, am not idiot and stupid like you that feel so offended by a comment. Dude...grove up, be mature.....cars it's everithing...stupid little kid
I love your car. I also race a car that looks similar ('69 Firebird) Mine is not quite as fast as yours, but could be. I wish you had built an old tech carbureted, supercharged engine instead of using that computer engine. Vintage cars deserve vintage engines. I don't believe there is any place for a computer in any car, and certainly not a race car. No offense, just my opinion.
LOL..... junk indeed. What a very, very well sorted racecar. The onboard at 2:16 tells the story. No drama, no overload, nothing. Just hook and go. Guy has his arm chillin' on the windowsill, doing 0 to 170+ in under 10 seconds. LMAO.... love it.
I love how civilized it is. soft leave, automatic shifting,. I'm surprised he wasn't sippin' a beer during the passes. car is set up nice.
I’m impressed how suttle the RPM is at launch, sounds so smooth
Ikr
Don’t need a big stall or a lot of rpm when you have 7.0l to work with
If Freiburgers F-Bomb sat in a field for 15 years.. this is what it would look like
Joe DeSalvo Its mint
Joe DeSalvo LOL!!!
hed be like MINT
exactly. this reminded me of his.
yes but could it run that number. lol
Far from junk in my personal opinion. An original split bumper camaro, pretty rare these days to find... It's in good shape for being over 45 years old.
I know that's just the car's persona. It's supposed to be a sleeper lol
67SweetTwinkie it's not called a split bumper Camaro, it is called a Rally Sport.
That huge shark mouth style front end FTFW. Love that body style.
Stay gold.
Yeah, the split bumper Camaro is pretty sick looking.
@@donrutter6765 yup.. the sport just gets ruined.. way over priced what they want for cars now its sad..
Arm resting on the door sill, trans shifting for him, just like a Sunday afternoon cruise.
Imagine what those times would be with the right trans setup
MacKreggin. and a two step
you know its fast when the keychain tassle has g force on it.
old school at it's finest, original turnkey ignition, patina paint,
Just because something is old and rusty doesn't make it a "sleeper" or "junk". That body is straight and 70-81 are still timeless to this day.
Ls7 never disappoints
kh kj my 496 big block never disappoints me either lol
LQ4 never disappoints :)
Not only is it fast, but it's set up really well. It hooks good and runs straight.
What a build. Hope to build a split bumper sometime down the road myself. Dream car
I used to drive a 73 Camaro, same color inside and out. In fact.....same rust!
That final race made me smile, seeing the Porsche lose
TheGtracer1994 people who drag race Porsche's are just there to boost their ego and show off what they can afford.
Or to see what they can pull. Stock vs stock... that Porsche would destroy that Camaro. You can mod the hell out of a Porche too to make it a drag car. Of course, if the track had a curve of went on for ten miles, we all know who’d win.
The footage makes it look like its running in fast forward when its actual speed. Nasty!
I'm a Ford Man but I love this Camaro!!
I love this car, and I'm a Ford guy. It leaves like a kitten and then comes alive like a lion, but inside the car, it's like a Sunday drive. Really cool car.

I don't think there's too many people boosting ls7s, but apparently yours is a testament that they can hold boost.
Nice sleeper!
Proof you don't need all that fancy crap to get the job done.
No2TheNWO a built LS with twin turbos what fancy crap are you not talking about LOL
I own '73 Camaro myself and I'm very proud of that ''junk'' here!
Ai mee too is a nice car I got a 900hp one
Loving it ! Almost a spitting image of David Freiburger's F-bomb Camaro. Also I've been needing this, gives me motivation to try and get more done on my 80 Camaro, despite my epilepsy! Thanks again man
I love this car!! Very Badass!
Love that body style I had a 78 Z28 drove it everyday for 9 years that thing would destroy anybody on the street with a few mods of course 350 with a 4-speed and a posi rear
It’s beautiful as hell! NEEDS A RESTORATION!
1400 without a crazy sounding cam, true sleeper
I think so too! Slick car for sure!
I want it...literally I'd buy it as is.
60' looks light but when she gets rollin HOLY SHIT!
Awesome sleeper. And finally someone who knows how to drive. And a car that appears to be very well sorted. I'm so sick of seeing people driving a car with turbos and listening to the darn thing banging the pop-off all the way down the track.

damn that thing is fast and well built it stayed straight easy....

could they have thought of a dumber name "ecoboost" it sounds ridiculous but ive heard good things.
Wtf man, this is the best thing ever
no one will argue that parallel turbos are better than a sequential setup, but as to 2 same sized turbos, they only spool up slower than a single turbo setup if they haven't been set up properly. Mr318live Videos from the 918 coming shortly... gorgeous car.
Old man in the wheel chair loves it
oh my...... now that's some serious power right there
Fullforce LTX Heck yeah! G-Forces FTW!
+BigKleib34 and it still has leaf springs! damn that car is bad ass man... probably my second favorite of all your vids ha
Hmmm what's the first? Buick?
+BigKleib34 gotta be that blue single turbo 6 speed camaro!! that thing was crazy fast and the driver was just as bad ass as the car!
8.89? Holy crap. Amazing with such small tires.
I had one just like that.. Gold.. 327 transplant .. from a vett , auto , loved it
One persons junk is another persons treasure. Nice car
can I just tell you that if I had this car and the current owner of this piece of 'JUNK' had a feather in his nose, we would both be tickled. I absolutely go crazy for anything that is certifiably sleeper. This hits the proverbial 'nail on the head'.
Damn. Just a cruise to 160mph. That's one squared away ride.
I'm a Mopar guy, but that's just sick!!
Those look like the original bucket seats. Hopefully you've braced them. What a flippin monster...
that first race is just HUMILIATION! It's not right! hahah
No kidding, running 13's, that should have been a Hemi Charger, but that Camaro made it look like a 2.7l Rental Turd!
GreenJeep1998 must've been, not should've been.
if that is JUNK then I want a big pile of SHIT!!!! lol
That thing is wicked fast.
she's a sleeper alright.... but she was awake that day! nice runs!
Clifford Purk Hell yeah!!
I would love to see what that much torque would feel like
kyle carson Like a cow is sitting in your lap and holding you to the seat!
Loved this car, saw you at the event i was running in the 11.0 index class for shits and giggles since i wasnt able to get the car done in time. Wish the track would of been a little better to give for some better launches.
BlackLS1TA No doubt! Wish I would've had time to bring my car out.
People always criticize originality, not the main stream... 🚸⚠️🔞🗃🛠🗑📎 They've got names... ⛾🏁
"yup another sleeper" haha
2:18 what a badass, riding comfy lol
wicked ride, great setup.
dude love your vids always satisfying ending
You know it!!!
Needs either some spray to get it off the line and the turbo/s spooled or needs raised two step and more converter. Something’s off.
i have a 74 camaro that i am planning on converting to this split bumper year
Now that’s a street car
My Silverado will out run this thing!!!....to the 60 ft mark maybe. Hah! Love turbo cars but some of these "soft" launches leave something to be desired. Top end numbers always impress though.
got to get my 75 rolling like that asap😎🤑
LOVE IT, that is total badass.
That's a 1970 1/2 Camaro. Gen 2 body but has the short back seats. Short spoiler.
Athens Georgia represent!
Who makes that set of headers
Where are you from kleib what made you come to Atlanta dragway? Did you run your car?
Dat 918 doe omg damn
SI RICKO Hell yeah. That thing was GORGEOUS
Seems like about 900 horses.
man ima for shure gona put a ls7 twin turbo on my truck now
You're messing with Bugattis with this kinda power
Run that junk against Cleetus MacFarland in Leroy the Savage. Looks like it would be a pretty good, even race
What size tires are on the rear I like that size
That car is BAD AZZ!!!!!
Get those seat belts below the headrest! Wont hold very well if you crash @ 150 plus.
Really the car needs a proper seat.
boy that is one nice sleeper cool👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
So that's atlanta dragway, that's the same camaro that put a whooping on me!!!
Michael Scruggs I'd be honored to have this thing put a whooping on me.
Holy brown stuff!!!!!!!!!! Junk is the way!!
and still looks better than a minivan running a 4 second quarter
That's my kinda junk for sure. Sweet sleeper.
that is a perfect pass
Hey guys help me understand! At that first light with the red charger to the camaro's left, didnt he wait A LONG TIME at that green light?? If so, WHY??? I dont get it folks. Cool camaro by the way!!

I wanna know the chassis mods, holy fuck that's smooth
Race leroy
Hooks nice not too hard has the mid to top end charge of a turbo car.
What a beautiful monster! O_o
that dodge got humiliated
I wonder what the 0-60 is :o ?
Cubic inches baby.
Great car!!
Interceptor1255 This one definitely caught our eye.
yup, throw money at any car and be as fast as you pay. Turbo Prius anyone?
+real talk I wonder how light a prius would be once you removed all the batteries.... I know they have great aerodynaimcs so that's a plus.
***** I would cringe at witnessing any family subcompact car being a beast, just as a great grandmother trying out for cheerleader.
How would you turbo a car that basically runs on batteries?
Now here's a really dumb question; why do they turbocharge instead of supercharge? I always thought that turbos took more time to build up power than superchargers?
There's pros/cons to both. You have to look at power, efficiency, price, maintenance, etc.
No the really dumb thing is running 2 same size turbos
Your question is fine
MyLonewolf25 Thanks👍
Sure they take more time to spool up, but in a drag race, that's not an issue. Superchargers are parasitic. They use horsepower to run. Turbos on the other hand are much less parasitic. They eat a lot less power to make power.
+MyLonewolf25 Parallel turbos do the same job as a single (larger) turbo without as much lag.
Killin it
love JUNK, that killed the one million dollars Spider 918 ...jajajaja
It was a Porsche 918 bud.
Whatever, i dont take personal the cars,,,I was just a comment, am not idiot and stupid like you that feel so offended by a comment. Dude...grove up, be mature.....cars it's everithing...stupid little kid
+Jose Altamirano
calls me stupid - can't spell for shit...
I dont care you idiot! Stupid garbage! Grove up
It's was Porsche 918 but yes quite impressive it beat a car worth $900,000
How fast did you say your Honda was? Lol
You can't consider it a sleeper because it's a Camaro but I like the deception of looking like crap.
WOW love it
Ha ha Most of these junk cars are always so dam fast lol
Porsche got beat but it sounded way better.
Imports are gay sounding. Nothing better than American muscle. 😁
No offense, just my opinion.
vulcan1753 I respect your opinion but that thinking means your car will never hit it's full potential but yes I like you way of thinking
