I Rode The 52K CVO Road Glide & Here's My Brutally Honest Opinion

- Harley Davidson isn't know for cheap motorcycles but their new Road Glide CVO 120th anniversary edition is on a whole other level of expensive. In this video I will tell you my honest opinion of this bike, how it rides, features and pros and cons.
Personally I’ll never believe that any cruiser will ever be worth this kind of money. It’s just ludicrous
It's worth it to the people who want one,but a lot of money guess that's inflation for you.
Pick up Dark Horse Challenger that would blow the flipping doors off this $52k POS 😂
For the money you would think it would have the biggest engine and top of the line suspension and brakes and they should let you pick what seat you want.
they should have put the 122 motor for 52k and after the harley hidden charges your at 60k
I own the 2022 CVO Road Glide Limited, and from what I can see, this is the same bike I have, but just with a different paint job. I love mine. Its very comfortable.
Just a little heads up for us vertically challenged riders (I'm 5'6", 28" inseam). I bought a 2022 Indian Pursuit Limited in September and could barely flat foot it with my work boots (no extra room). So I went to Red Wing and bought a pair of logger boots with the tall sole and heel. Spent $300 and can now stand up over the bike when stopping and backing up. It's cheaper than a new seat and a lot cheaper than changing suspension.
Brilliant!
Excellent solution!
I knew nothing about motorcycles until i saw this bike, its the most beautiful thing i've ever seen😍
I like the road cvo but love my road glide standard black and crome out the door was 24k! One month later im still in love with it!! Seen a guy today with a cvo he loves it
Seems like an awesome bike, but that price tag is very steep. Excellent video of your first impression.
I test rode this exact same bike at Arizona motorcycle rally last month. I was completely blown away. I want one so bad.
I had a 16 CVO Road Glide Ultra. It made me walk away from HD after a lifetime of buying HD's. I got red-pilled by this bike, and I'll never get duped by the whole HD-thing ever again. 68k miles on it, and it was tired and dying. Spent an insane amount of time at the dealership for one issue after another (all covered by warranty), and left me stranded on multiple cross-country rides. After the last time it left me stranded in Idaho, ruined my vacation, forced me to take a bus ride home, and then hafta pay to have the bike shipped back to me after they fixed it 2 months later - I was done. Fed up. Been riding a Goldwing since - have put on 118k miles on the 'Wing, with not even a fuse blowing. Just lots of tires and brake pads (I ride her like she's a sport bike). I'll never waste another dime on the hype cause unlike your typical HD rider, I ride year-round and almost never drive my other vehicles. I also have a 15 GMC Denali HD Duramax, and an 11 SS Camaro - bought both brand new. The GMC has 68k miles now, and the SS has 19k miles on her. If I'm going somewhere, you can almost count on me to be on two wheels.
$52,000. X 1500 units that’s $78 million in sales just on this one bike model alone. It looks like Harley figured out how to prosper with these high end units to keep the company going. Let’s hope there’s enough people out there to buy them which I think there is.
Just won a 2022 CVO Street Glide and so excited to be able to ride this incredible machine soon! Currently have a 2020 Road Glide so it will be an easy switch!
As a Blue Collar Worker Retiree....I will never buy a pricey CVO....But i am glad HD makes these Bikes👍😎
Maybe in twenty years it will depreciate enough we can afford it 🙏🙏🙏🤔🤔🤔🤔
@@juliancrooks3031 I look at this way.....I will stick with the Base Models and get ideas to make it as good or better from the CVO's examples....Slowly...over 20years?....Hahaha
Great review on this motorcycle. Hopefully I’ll be able to demo ride one too. Well done sir.
Thanks man
I'm 56. My first 2 houses were under 1000 sq ft, but both cost less than this bike. The MoCo has lost their mind. But then again, if crazies spend for it...its their own party 😂
lol
I agree with almost everything you said (I love the chrome). I had a 14 cvo road glide ultra and loved it on the highway. But it was a beast to try and muscle around and I’m 5’ 10”. I’m back on a ultra limited batwing and find I’m more confident in a parking lot. But the cvo is the ultimate touring Harley.
The ‘beastliness’ and lack of reverse gear is why I choose my Heritage for touring (Europe) every time…it’s far more versatile and capable of being stripped down when arrivingat, and exploring, your destination.
Looks like a great bike to tour with. But because of the price, I might wait a few years and get one as my retirement gift to myself
I have a 2019 Road Glide CVO and I love it. They definitely ride smooth.🔥🔥🔥
That'll be $65,000-70,000 here in CA, once state sale tax, registration, license, and Dealership Harley Davidson taxes are added in, for a gross profit margin. Sorry, I don't see the value, it's like pissing money into the wind. Seriously, I'd sooner spend that kind of money on a nice Audi AWD SUV, which is never, Audi is just a grossly overpriced VW. Harleys are grossly over priced, there's just no equivalent VW value branding the HD marketing system, yet. Like Cadillac, GM, then Chevrolet. That big fricken fancy building all those HD new bikes are in, with all those employees standing around getting paychecks, is really expensive overhead that has to be supported by the price of new bikes, new parts and the service department, plus all the clothing branding. Ef that, HD should pay me to advertise for them with the shirts I wear saying HD.
I hear what you're saying man
Man, I just bought a 2017 CVO Ultra for 35K, so I get where you are coming from! My bike did only have 5020 miles on it and to be honest, that's the main reason I bought it. But 52K!!! DAAAANG!!!! It is a beautiful bike, but there's no way I could come up with the bank to grab that bike! Give it about 5 years and we'll see what it is bringing. Thanks Brother! By the way, mine rides and cruises really smooth and they threw all the options on mine as well. That CVO ain't no joke, but you pay for it!
My dream bike. Have a 2010 RG that I've added a bunch of upgrades. CVO bars to name a few.
Would never drop that much money on one but goddamn that is a nice looking bike.
I hold the same exact opinion as you except for the chrome or black trim thing. On this particular bike, I like the chrome. Now, I own an Ultra Limited with black trim, but the color and the trim go together perfectly, as I believe this chrome does with the ‘23 CVO RoadGlide Limited. I hate the price is so high that I cannot possibly afford one. My bike was about $22k less brand new just 5 months ago.
Glad I found a low miles, 2013 , 1900 Raider for 6300.00.Put some Viking bags on it. Yea, it's a rice burner. Gorgeous, fast bike.
Actually own two of them… in my dreams!
Nice Bike! I currently own a 2018 CVO Limted Anaversary, again for the price Harley. You forgot to chrome the inner primary! And still installing the 117 ci still
You have 3 options.
You can buy a CVO and pay for a dealer to install your preferences.
You can buy a newer Touring Bike and throw on a 131 Kit and the infrastructure to support that power plant which bring you close to $52k actually.
Lastly if you have to tools, knowledge and space along with the financial resources I would pick up a Lowrider S on Copart. Put on a S&S 128 kit on. Do a FXR Style Fairing and now you have a Rocket Sled. Get away with this for around $25k (Need $$$ in Tools)
Indian are doing better things overall than HD right now…though we await 07th June for the new CVOs 🤩
I've been riding my black 2001 roadking classic for over 20 years.
What is with the .03 cent worth of red zip tie on the bars? At $50,000 should'nt all the wiring be fully plumbed?
We test rode one at thunder beach. It is nice but my wife said our road glide limited was more comfortable 😮. Very expensive 😢
It’s a looker and if can afford it and keep it long term there is also a lot of pride of ownership. I consider Harleys the Briggs & Stratton of today’s motorcycles. Yet always have to have at least one in the stable. Enjoy them while we can.
$52k ? Everyone has got their bent, but for me, in this day and age, when austerity isn't an option for so many, that's just obscene and, personally, I find the price tag, distasteful.
And no, I'm not "poor".
@@scotthunter9332 I hadn't looked at it that way. Good choices.
Never buy new
I hear you man
I am 6’1 and had to install air suspension on what a difference
Got a 22 RG Limited after owning and riding two (2009 2015) RGs combined 75K miles. After 3 months, it's still awkward to handle when parking or stopping sometimes. The extra weigh and height are an issue for me. Seriously thinking of a lower seat and removable trunk. I don't want to mess with the suspension at this point.
This bike is for those who want exclusivity. Over time these bikes will hold their value, if well maintained. The way I look at it is you only live once. if you can afford this bike and it’s something you want go for it. If you don’t some else will. So live out your dreams while you can because life is too short.
I love a RG but the price of the CVO means I won't own one until it is 15yrs old with 100,000 miles. But I do know that the CVO stuff will filter down to the regular RG in future models. I have a 30" inseam so the seat height would be tight for me too. But I can't believe Harley sells a $52,000 bike without a reverse and is one of the reasons I ride a Goldwing ATM. I would love to see a comparison of the CVO RG to the RG Limited to see what difference $22,000 makes in a Road Glide,
🔥
If it would only lower 2" to 3" at stops. WDY think?
Just seems like a massive motorcycle to be riding.
Is that a zip tie on bars of a 52 grand bike
They really need to be more innovative for that price tag. The Harley baggers have looked the same for so long, it's hard to tell a 2013 from a '23. Sick paint job though.
Ive always said from 10 feet away they all look the same
Road Kings Street glides whatever you want to call it is really just a stripped-out electro-glide wish fancy paint and 10 grand extra added to the price tag. No trunk no guardrails around the trunk no guardrails around the saddlebags no crash bar, no front fender bumper or light, I don't know how many things they left off but hey will just charge 50% more and are fanboys will buy any piece of crap we make. Obviously considering their lineup it has to be true and before anyone says anything I've had a Harley for 25 years and it is just one of my bikes. Underdeveloped unreliable under-equipped and ridiculously overpriced piece of junk. Plus you have to sync another 10 grand into the motor if you wanted to last more than 20,000 miles.$52,000 well as they say there's a sucker born every minute. How true how true.
True if u don't build a harley motor they r weak
Harley riders often put down GoldWings bc they like Harley's vibration, saying it connects them to the bike as they can feel the power. Then they get a smooth running Harley and suddenly the smoothness is the best thing ever. $52,000? I'd rather have a Tour Glide AND a Fat Boy.
Isn't a new, loaded Gold Wing, around 30k?
I'm rolling a 100th anniversary with upgrades im good
How much could it possibly cost to build this bike....?
Started a Patreon to buy an Evo 😂 my guy!
lol
$52,000 is ridiculous... good Lord, I can buy two different bikes for that money or even a new hot rod. I don't scoff at those who spend the money. This is America. Buy whatever makes you happy. The buyer had better have a top quality extended warranty. With the way these wind-cooled bikes overheat, it would be a disaster if the engine went south while still making huge payments. Thanks for the review :-)
$52k for a CVO sounds like $20K profit for HD
For that kinda of money you can get two good bikes that are just as good
"Significant Other" to some translates to "Side Piece" lol!
lol
What's resale on a $52K bike after 10 years?
Today is March 15, 2024. There is one, today, on CycleTrader with 2,942 miles that is priced at $43,989.00. I'd bet my left foot that I could ride off with that bike for a flat $40,000.00.
"Gotta" know where to look and "gotta" know actual values. Most dealers are going to have their minds in the clouds; don't deal with those dealers! It can be done but it takes work, research, and negotiation skills.
Those $52K bikes have lost $10K today already!
I've seen this bike priced as high as $58K; at $43K, it's already lost $15K in value.
Folks, don't let the numbers scare you; they are just numbers; you do not have to pay that!
Learn to play the game!
You could purchase two new Harleys for the price of that bike. Just food for thought.
I own a 2021 CVO Ultra Limited. MSRP was 44K. This is the exact same bike with a different fairing and paint, but 8K more. Just sayin....
👊😎👍
Why would you waste 52K on a car, when you could have a Harley CVO ?
I still have my 5k sportster
I saw this bike in Pigeon Forge for 56 K
same bike being listed for 58k here in oregon....
Oh wow
You are paying for the custom factory paint job. This bike is a status symbol only. Does it come with the woman in the tight black teeshirt and jeans with the logo? Just wondering. It would be a big plus.
lol...I don't think so brother
Great looking bike!! But next year, it will be a "last year's" bike and there will be a prettier bike in the showroom. Cheaper just to look at the pictures and enjoy what I have, an '06 FLHT-I...
Sure you think it's a great bike, you spent sixty thousand dollars on it. Like you said in the beginning of the video I agree with you, you are.
I own the most expensive Harley Davidson…from 1995 a FLHTCUI
And it will last
They omly just going to get mkre expensive from here! The CVOs are already 40k +, close to 50k after allbthe aftermarket editions...
As far as i'm concerned no Harley is worth that kind of money!! I have one and believe me the suspension sucks,, even upgrade the rear suspension and it still sucks. The new CEO is just sucking the buyers dry like he said he was going to do. It's alot of money to ride around in circle or go for a Sunday drive. If you have it ,go ahead and blow it and if you don't leave it at the dealership.
Yeah I can have a Bens or BMW or CVO???? F that.
All this price is for a paint job. If thats all Harley has in the book for extras, its no wonder why they keep getting worse and worse but want more $$. Hell pay half that and get a better bike Harley or otherwise. If you want to spend 60k, buy a few years older model of anything but that garbage and make it yours and i bet it would be cheaper. As far as im concerned that CVO means new old stock with 15k added.
Armed robbers don’t even need a gun or mask anymore
Dealer in mass asking 65k cvo ultra limited.
Those who own a Harley most likey own a car or SUV.
I own a 2018 & 2019 SG CVO’s and I’ll never buy one again new. What a fantastic waste of money. Great for a used price but way too much new. In our economy EVERYTHING should be priced half as much as it is. A bike should not cost as much or more than a vehicle.
It is only 10 more cubic inches than a 107
don't be a follower, chromes is amazing on that bike.
You buy one of these for 52000 + Factory markup + Dealer markup + taxes + very high interest on your loan , 80, 000 at least to pay down the loan !!!! And this doesn't even include expensive maintenance every 5000 miles , tires extras Etc . Oh yes just one more thing : HORRIBLE DEPRICIATION .
Noooooo, H-D want you to spend more money for all those parts that should come on a bike that is worth 60 grand, I am going to be switching to the BMW lesss problems and don’t have to keep buy parts or accessories at the same price the bike cost 🤬
I just want to ride and not trailer my bike to a bike event. I'll keep my goldwing. I'm so done with harley not worth the money, and there not American made anymore
Wing is the most reliable touring bike that dosent beat on u like HD.
looks like a honda goldwing
bit pricey nice tho.
This is why Harley is losing money! Big time!
Wait, wait, wait a minute.....Harley CVO's don't have a reverse gear on them?? .....for 52k??? Say what you want about Honda Goldwing, or Indian, they at least have a reverse gear at a fraction of the price.
Who the hell wants to push a 50k bike to park at a grocery store??!!
Personally I don't think the paint is even attractive on this bike and no bike period worth 52k
52K🤣🤣🤣
52k? Nah I'll pass.
Touring not cruiser.
52k No thanks.
Go buy an Indian !!!!
Overpriced not worth it save yourself money other models better priced .
All it is is an expensive paint job and extra chrome on the same piece of shit. They don't even put chrome covers on the rocker box screws. Also no chrome screws on the switch housings. What a joke.
We all know your5"6. You may want to stick to the Softail bikes. Leave the touring bikes to the big boys.
Harley is a joke and anybody who calls someone a broky because they can’t it won’t afford a 52 thousand dollar toy. They can have fun drinking a bud leading to Green Day I will stick with my just as good more reliable jap cruisers thank you. Great vid I’m sure it’s a super awesome rig but twice as much as my truck nope
I bet tthe 2024 CVO will be $55K.
It’s not worth it. Made in China cheap parts and assembled in Mexico. 👎🏼👎🏼
