This is what makes this raid great, you can use almost any subclass and almost any weapon too! Swords, shotguns can be just as helpful as the usually sniper and rocket
Super helpful man. Love your videos! One of my favorite youtubers and definitely one of my if not my favorite destiny UA-camr! Your videos are super helpful and I'm glad I've been here long enough to watch your channel grow.
I run sunsinger + starfire protocol + touch of flame + viking funeral with a tier 5 discipline build and DPS wise, I feel like I'm doing so much damage to the raid bosses with the fusion grenades... I can't say for certain 'cause I haven't done the math but I'm sure if a team of 4 sunsinger warlocks, 1 nightstalker hunter with tether and 1 weapon of light bubble titan were put together then that would be an awesome damage output team... not saying for certain that it's the best choice.. 'cause i repeat, haven't done the math lol! I've done test play throughs though and I've gotten my fireteam to run the same set up and use the same weapons they have been for damage and I've used the fusion grenades and it seems we do more damage with the grenades than without them (without them meaning, instead of using primarily radiance to do damage, i'd use either my heavy or other weapons). But I'd love to see you nerd out about this with the numbers Datto!
Viking Funeral with Sunbreakers on is really nice and the constant debuff from ignite helps get that extra damage when the nightstalkers use up their tethers.
This Raid is Hunter heaven. Ran with a six man Hunter team through WoTM which would have been detrimental in Kings Fall. It was an absolute blast tethering everything.
+WeskersPlayhouse yeah it works, but almost everyone had this idea worked into their brain that you needed to have a Titan to kill oryx, which was so untrue. I was able to do it with 5 warlocks and 1 hunter on hard mode before the April update came out, but everyone was always like "what no Titans? Nope sorry we can't do oryx then."
I wouldn't use Stormcaller, Voidwlaker is good, but yeah I prefer a Sunsinger Viking Funeral build. To anyone who hasn't tried this (...Datto), just make sure to run either Starfire Protocol or Heart of the Praxic Fire with decent Discipline, Fusion grenades are the way to go.
Zach Howard - in the first round? quickest I've done was in 3 pillars, could've done 2 but we didn't wanna risk messing up the final part, you know. Man, I've never used all 4 of those buffs, gotta try that tonight.
Blood bound + courage of the pack for night stalkers works wonders while carrying the parts back to the siege engine, would highly recommend it as it just melts everything tethered. Plus the increased recovery and armour is a nice touch
If your using voidwalker I would suggest using an energy drain build with axion bolt instead of nothing manacles/scatter grenade. Axion bolt will 1 hit dregs and all types of shanks as long as you are above 370 light which is great for crowd control, and for an exotic I change nothing manacles out for obsidian mind.
Viking funeral build is so good. It works like a mini nightstalker shot. If you put on song of flame and have two warlocks using fusion grenades you can do a lot of damage.
The viking funeral buff is amazing. A Sunsinger who uses YWH and viking funeral can keep up a constant 30% damage buff for everyone (at aksis obviously). One warlock running sun singer + YWH = 30% damage buff that stacks with weapons and tether, who the hell doesn't want to hit over 150k with cannons?
***** Melting point and tether don't stack you nob and melting point lasts 5 seconds.... what I suggested + WoL + Tether = 93% bonus damage for the whole group for almost the whole DPS phase. What the fuck is a void walker going to do to buff the group?
For Zamboni we always rock a striker for Meksis, two Stromtrance for ads, two tethers to lockdown/clear ads and a bubble titan with blessing to protect us from the skiffs after the parts are dropped.
I personally had a great time doing fleetfooted bladedancer in the siege engine encounter. Run fast, shank everything, keep your health up. It's good stuff.
what my raid team did for the zamboni encounter was 3 titans ( 1 sunbreaker and 2 defender ) 1 warlock( stormcaller ) and 2 hunters ( nightstalkers ) and it worked out really well. in the beginning when alot of adds spawned , we popped blessing and weapons on top of each other for the 4 people damaging the thing on zamboni and the stormcaller and sunbreaker taking care of adds
I use a Sunsinger + Viking Funeral + Touch of Flame + Starfire Protocol. It is amazing how much damage it can do, and can be used by a capable Warlock who, for some reason, doesn't have any of the good power weapons (Outbreak Prime, Black Spindle, Gjallarhorn, Sleeper Simulant, or Dark Drinker). It's also a good overall buff for all your teammates, along with Void anchors and WoL.
Datto, the Dragon's Breath works amazingly for the beginning of the Siege Machine. It works like a AOE grenade, holding ads back if placed right. I solo the ad duty with hammer and Dragon's quite easily, if the snipers sit on top of crate to avoid smoke screen.
Young Wolf's Howl and Viking Funeral. You can keep both 15% damage buffs up because fusion grenades proc twice. Fusions already dps more than spindle (solars with Sunbreakers do even more but cannot stack Viking Funeral 3 times while keeping the sword debuff up). You don't lose much damage from yourself and also give your team a 30% buff.
For the seige machine at the start a Titan bubble can be placed in front of the snipers for cannon shooting and adds can't hit them and they can still snipe
I use Songsinger build for Vosiks and Aksis as follows: Fusion grenades+ Viking Funeral+ Touch of Flame, with Starfire Protocol and max discipline. The idea is to activate the super in the DPS phase while the rest of the fireteam focuses of shooting. That way the boss burns with Viking Funeral and takes more damages during the duration of the super, adding also Weapons of Light and Shadowshot. At least it works for me, specially in the Aksis encounter.
When my Clan went through the Raid sub-370 Light, Viking Furneral helped out big time; I'm pretty sure it was required for our first win. Now that we're all 385+, we haven't used it and we're taking out the final Boss in 2 or 3 damage phases. For Vosik we always have a Nightstalker and Stormcaller in the middle. Tether the adds, and Stormtrance them for double Orbs. Other Fireteam members can use their supers freely because there are always a ton of Orbs in the middle. Myself and another Clan mate usually take this on, just switching who's Hunter/Warlock. Defender Titan can fill in if they're aggressive with Heavy kills, or Force Barrier punches to generate Orbs.
Sunsinger with Viking funeral and touch of flame is amazing. Pair that with solar grenades and the exotic gloves sunbreakers, then you have a solid boss damage subclass. You could go a step further and use fireborn (self rez) along with memory of skorri and tlaloc for ULTIMATE SYNERGY!
Datto I thought I would mention there is actually a sunsinger build where you use fusion grenades, the quicker ability cooldown perk, viking funeral, and heart of the praxic fire. if you combine that with the hunters shadow shut it is possible to do perfect black spindle damage if every fusion grenade makes contact. There was a reddit post on this but I can no longer find it. Edit: an excerpt from that post my friend sent "in radiance, further fusion grenades will explode with the buffed damage from the viking funeral stacks of the previous grenade. the result is that spamming fusion nades with max discipline is equivalent to the dps of pumping non-stop spindle shots. Except this way you can fire scorch cannon shots AND buff the rest of your team. It's a truly underrated skill"-reddit
For Vosik, you can use a Fireborn Sunsinger to self rez even if you can't make to the room. Note: Dying to the critical siva density will prevent a self revive but if you jump into a pit BEFORE the trigger you can wait until it is clear and self revive.
+Datto With Voidwalker, I personally prefer Lance for the additional damage on direct impact. This might be a bit of a push to ask for in your maybe busy timetable, but if you ever get a bit of free time a Nova Bomb damage comparison amongst the three choices (you can group up the Shatter Nova Bomb by sliding your camera angle)
shatter is best in terms of overall damage, I've tested it, its downfall is that you may not hit all three and i tend to use my nova in raids to help people with their captain if they need it, so lance is good there as it is most accurate .but overall lance does less damage than shatter and the other one (name escapes me) due to the damage the void grenade thats left behind deals out
Like some other guardians here, I stand that viking funeral fusion grenades from a warlock are very effective against the bosses here. Specially with teams that struggle with the DPS fases, they can up the damage greatly. Pop a radiance (song of flame for best results) just before the shield breaks on Vosik or right at the 3rd teleport of Aksis, and begin throwing grenades nonstop, chances are you will still do decent damage, but your team will benefit from the constant debuff of the boss of 30%. What is better, is that it stacks with Weapons of light (Illuminated) and Shadowshot (black hole) Given the Dark drinker situation with Aksis, i think Vosik would be the best candidate to test this on.
Datto, as someone who actually plays as a Warlock for his Main ever since day 1, i think this time around Sunsinger would be the smarter choice because as a build you don't need to use your super, you can then benefit from Memory of Skorri and simple run a Viking Funeral Build for extra damage on enemies like the Captains or even the Boss and because your using this build towards the end you can just pop your super and burn the boss down with Grenades doing huge damage plus giving everyone else a huge DPS boost. Currently doing this for strikes and its working really well, in the event we all die i have my super to revive with and save the group, in a raid if i go down that puts stress on others but if i can revive in the raid then its a good lifeline to have but not rely on. WotM encounters are short enough that a wipe early doesn't matter so self-res isn't the main selling point this time around unlike it was for Crota. I just think, being that Anchor for the team would be a better roll for a Warlock rather then just using your super as another form of Damage to clear Groups of Enemies or Majors. I'd rather be useful 100% of the time helping the Hunters and Titans get their supers faster and have my own Damage Buff from Grenades to help on top of that. I hope this comment paints a clearer picture then it does when i read it back, I'm not great with grammar. TLDR, Warlocks should use Sunsinger for the Raid with Memory of Skorri and Viking Funeral Build and be the Anchor of the Team.
on the siege engine, using bladedancer with mask of the third man/encore just lets you go beserk on all the dregs, its really fun and works veeery effectively
I do not know the full numbers but Viking funeral on Aksis helps when your hunter is not good at tether. I was outputting a decent amount of DPS, plus the self res is always helpful in the fact of if you randomly drop you can just self res and clear adds which will provide orbs for super. Also if you have the artifact that charges friendly supers while you have yours then you become a super charging machine.
This is a great video, but I am curious as to why you chose Rising Storm on the Stormcaller. It only boosts up recharge rates by a second, and that's not useful at all.
I generally use cannons on Aksis, and if you activate radiance with Viking funeral and touch of flame and Starfire Protocol, then shoot a cannon shot, throw 2 fusion grenades, blow up the shot, rinse and repeat. I get some crazy damage for doing that.
You undervalue Viking Funeral a lot. You should definitely test sunbreaker gauntlets using it. Damage is multiplicative with Tethers and Weapons of light, meaning you can do way more damage with it equipped
Viking Funeral is definitely worth it. There's a video of a raid group of sunsingers using only grenades and melees, no gun shooting (scorch cannons exempt).
i would like to point out on the siege machine you can use a 2 shots and 1 mag of a high impact sniper will take out a cannon quickly. The third shot on the second cannon butters it up nicely too. use over the hill perk or the spider helmet.
Hey Datto, if you do end up testing Sunsinger in a Viking Funeral build, I think you should test a Skorri build too (self-res,tlaloc,memory of skorri) having basically a super battery for the rest of the team is extremely helpful, and tlaloc pushes out great dps. defender/nightstalker/stormcaller/sunsinger/hunter/Titan is probably the best group for this raid overall
My group normally runs 2 Hunters, 2 Titans and 2 Warlocks. Personally when i'm running my warlock I run Sunsinger, double solar grenades with Viking Funeral. I try to use my 'Nades on the first 2 teleports and have the Hunters save their tether for the final teleport. Unfortunately I haven't had chance to go over any footage to see numbers, but would be interested in seeing them though. :)
For the Gunslinger build, I think that Scavenger would be better, to make sure you have at least 1 throwing knife (2 with Grasps or Gambler's Dagger), to get more procs of Circle of Life.
Sun singer with fusion grenade, Viking funeral, and touch of flame, is realllllly good for boss damage. I used them for aksis and my team (and there was a 352 in there) dropped aksis' health real quick. It is a very viable build
Datto, my raid team and I can kill the boss in 3 damage cycles with 1 nightstalker, 1 sunsunger, and 1 defender. throw in a celestial gunslinger or voidwalker if ya want just for boss damaging supers and you blast through the final Aksis phase very quickly, though those two aren't needed, and with those 3 as damage buff users that all stack together, everyone else can usually be whatever they feel most comfortable with.
Solar nades + Sunbreakers + Viking Fun+ touch of flame. I have noticed when stacked w/ Tether and Weapons/light the bosses do go down slightly faster. Plus having a DOT between reloads cam keep the DPS going....
I tried a strat last night where I used sunsinger with VF and got under Aksis. I'd pop radiance and use dark drinker while throwing a solar nade between each R2. Heavy heavy team damage
Look forward to the Viking funeral video, we have found one sun singer in the last fight makes you melt Aksis unbelievably fast at least that's how we feel about it anyway would be interesting to see numbers
Viking funeral is completely worth using on vosik and aksis phase 2. I very consistently out damage my fireteam while using sunsinger. I haven't really ran any other subclass other than stormcaller on the Siege Engine, but I imagine solar grenades with sunbreakers are pretty damn good.
@Datto the damage debuff for sunsingers with Viking funeral stacks with shadowshot debuffs and melting point, and I've easily done over 1 mil damage with the grenades alone. I can't wait fir you to try it out.
sunsinger should really only be used if you have a tough time staying alive, and if you do run self-res. it would be best to also run memory of skori cause you can charge you allies supers faster while u sit on yours for your res.
For an effective orb generating support Titan, I roll defender with blessing, alpha lupi, any perks that generate more orbs and memeory of skorri. Very good and makes the raid like 2x easier
Hey, Datto! Thanks for the sword video! My group had been having a lot of trouble with Aksis, but after hearing about the Dark Drinker strategy, we had no problem beating him. We beat the raid twice yesterday including doing all the monitors and are now our way to getting Outbreak Prime. Although, I was wondering, do the swords do more damage than the cannons? I seem to recall in the video you suggesting 3 cannons and 3 swords, but some people in my group were insistent that the swords were better. Also, here's a mystery for you. What's with the disco room before Aksis? You know, the one with the light-up floor panels? I thought the set of 9 squares in the middle of where Aksis teleports to might be a clue, but we tried having people standing on the light-up panels in different arrangements, but it didn't seem to do anything. Also, it seems like it would be a cool place for a boss battle. Maybe that's going to be something in the hard mode. They add a boss in addition to the usual higher light level and spawn restrictions kind of stuff.
For Datto, and anyone else, on siege engine, I recommend if you are a Nightstalker, use Blood Bound and Predator, Your tether will come back faster with predator and any enemies in the radius that become tethered will get damaged by a shot to any one of the enemies and you can clear crowds fast. Boom, you probably run that already or you might not and this helped, let me know :D
Datto, if you read this, please reconsider your verdict on young wolf's howl. You didn't factor cannons in to the damage, and if you do, young wolf's howl increases overall damage by a few hundred thousand.
Aron Thomas It's just not worth it considering how much ammo it consumes per swing versus the other exotic swords. Dark-drinker combined with a tether & Viking funeral solar flares being chucked on the boss is the best route to go
I went through the whole raid with a sun singer, solar grenades w/ a mix of some PvP perks ( Damage overtime ). Versus Vosik we had 2 sun singers, 1 shadow shot, and 1 weapons of light. The damage we did brought him to the comma in his name in 2 rounds. ( This was the indoor encounter ) FYI, warlock master class 2014-20--
Viking Funeral lets a cannon holding sunsinger double their dps, almost. Pop radiance, and as you're charging your cannon shots, throw fusion grenades w/ viking funeral and touch of flame. Nades do around 30k damage between cannon shots, which i average 70k before buffs at 376 light. Test it out! I have a recording of my fireteam dropping him to almost the comma in his name on the first damage run with 3 sunsingers, 2 tethers, and a weapons of light bubble.
This is what makes this raid great, you can use almost any subclass and almost any weapon too! Swords, shotguns can be just as helpful as the usually sniper and rocket
Luke Smith exactly! I'm happy that any class is viable. no more only titans with bubbles needed for lfg. great point
Eh, now it's just 5 titans and 1 warlock
Voidwalker master race
Charlie Bartlett couldn't agree more
it's a class not a race
It's an expression.

in that case, EXO MASTER RACE

Super helpful man. Love your videos! One of my favorite youtubers and definitely one of my if not my favorite destiny UA-camr! Your videos are super helpful and I'm glad I've been here long enough to watch your channel grow.
Datto, can you do another armour + weapons tier list for all exotics in rise of iron?
he will doing youtube for next few weeks
Yes! ROI tier list!
hes already said numerous times that he will do one once he can play with everything.
jordan marco ishtar commander app has an option in settings that ranks your gear gold silver and bronze. it's awesome app for other reasons too!

You go hands down the best most informative videos out there
Your channel is amazing! Lots of great info. Keep it up!
Glad to see Nighthawk getting so much attention. That helmet almost never leaves my Exotic slot.
It was an absolute blast tethering everything.
infinite tethers
I found 6 Nightstalkers in King's Fall was actually great all the way through, strange
Nope sorry we can't do oryx then."
nlc369 God I hated when people said we *needed* Titans for Oryx... And now that ToM rips Blessing, there's even less need lol
I love that, "Stormcaller" Datto is one of my favorite Destiny youtubers
Viking funeral works extremely well with tether on aksis
This guy^. This guy knows.
Zach Howard - Hell. Yes.
+ you add melting point and dark drinker w/ a weapons of light bubble you can knock off 50% of aksis' health in the first damage round
Zach Howard - in the first round? quickest I've done was in 3 pillars, could've done 2 but we didn't wanna risk messing up the final part, you know. Man, I've never used all 4 of those buffs, gotta try that tonight.
Datto, Viking Funeral plus Sunbreaker gloves are absolutely amazing. Also, 6 warlocks can absolutely crush the raid in amazing time
Datto this is why I watch your vids, good stuff man :)
Datto.... Bro why tf are you so damn good at explaining things like your my number 1 destiny youtuber keep up the good work bud!
Congrats on 600k Datto! You earned it!
Oh I missed these videos. Great job, as usual.
Voidwalker with obsidian mind during the zamboni is so satisfying Kreygasm
Defender + Nightstalker + Nighthawk Gunslinger + Sunbreaker + Voidwalker +Stormcaller = Complete Overkill
Blood bound + courage of the pack for night stalkers works wonders while carrying the parts back to the siege engine, would highly recommend it as it just melts everything tethered. Plus the increased recovery and armour is a nice touch
Mad props for the music selection! Didn't picture you as a BTBAM fan!
Love your vids Datto... keep up the amazing work man
If your using voidwalker I would suggest using an energy drain build with axion bolt instead of nothing manacles/scatter grenade. Axion bolt will 1 hit dregs and all types of shanks as long as you are above 370 light which is great for crowd control, and for an exotic I change nothing manacles out for obsidian mind.
I'm early! Joke time!
"I don't have Gjallarhorn."
I hope you went back and got it
Do you still not have ghorn?
Thanks for the vid Datto, can't wait for Heroic mode next week ^_^
datto you never disappoint. great video

One warlock running sun singer + YWH = 30% damage buff that stacks with weapons and tether, who the hell doesn't want to hit over 150k with cannons?
what's ywh??
+Kai Zach young wolfs howls. thoug still dont think its that good.
iMixMaSteR1 or you could chill the hell out because one dick isn't going to convince anyone to stop playing warlocks
this guy on every comment haha
***** Melting point and tether don't stack you nob and melting point lasts 5 seconds....
what I suggested + WoL + Tether = 93% bonus damage for the whole group for almost the whole DPS phase.

You undervalue Viking Funeral a lot. You should definitely test sunbreaker gauntlets using it. Damage is multiplicative with Tethers and Weapons of light, meaning you can do way more damage with it equipped
3:42 I see you listening to Red Barchetta...I love you Datto
Yo all my sunbreakers out there, use suncharge to basically launch your teamates carrying the pick up things that make you super slow
It'll launch your ally across a platform getting there faster
Slife 2002 thanks for the tip 😉
Slife 2002 does sunbreaker do good boss damage
I dont think it does
JahzyNinja Not that great honestly, it can definitely help your team, but it's better for groups of adds
Ogga Bob thats what i thought, i feel just a sniper or sword would be better
Viking Funeral is definitely worth it. There's a video of a raid group of sunsingers using only grenades and melees, no gun shooting (scorch cannons exempt).
i would like to point out on the siege machine you can use a 2 shots and 1 mag of a high impact sniper will take out a cannon quickly. The third shot on the second cannon butters it up nicely too. use over the hill perk or the spider helmet.
Sunsingers with Viking Funeral, solar grenades, touch of flame and Sunbreakers gauntlets will be perfect!
DannTheKillerxD no fusion grenades are better and you can get 2 with starfirer protical so you can use the raid gloves
A team of 6 warlocks killed Aksis without using guns or cannons
space magic
Technically, ALL (sub)classes use space magic :P
GunlessSnake warlocks understands more tho......but they don't/can't go any farther than the other classes
Just keep meleeing, duuuh
+CookiePuss81 M I can see that happening with V.F plus the other supers, they crank out a LOT OF DAMAGE lol
shout to the sempiternal playlist in the background
Sunsingers with Fusions and VF are amazing for the boss DPS
Just a side note. Striker Titans are great on both of Aksis phases for the killing of captains (if you have that problem)
Every time I have run it so far i was using Viking funeral sunsinger and it works amazingly
Hey Datto, if you do end up testing Sunsinger in a Viking Funeral build, I think you should test a Skorri build too (self-res,tlaloc,memory of skorri)
having basically a super battery for the rest of the team is extremely helpful, and tlaloc pushes out great dps.
defender/nightstalker/stormcaller/sunsinger/hunter/Titan is probably the best group for this raid overall
Looking forward to some challenge modes for WoTM
Sunbreaker Master Race. Fear those who wield the hammers of hell!
Viking funeral build works amazing, I use it on my warlock without rez and go song of flame for my team
Sunsinger with sunbreakers, viking funeral and a high discipline build and you fucking MELT the boss with so many damn solar grenades.
the sunbreaker gloves are a good chioce as the viking funeral can use solar flares to do continous steam of damage
Can't wait to do the raid
Sunsinger, darkdrinker and sunbreakers. Beastmode
God the horror movie trailer ads are so creepy and you cannot even skip. So many of them out there. Anyone else hate those?
sunsinger should really only be used if you have a tough time staying alive, and if you do run self-res. it would be best to also run memory of skori cause you can charge you allies supers faster while u sit on yours for your res.
Really helpful info thanks
you should go over DPS strategies against all bosses, like who could use what during a boss and make things a smooth cycle
Sunsinger for the Siege Machine! Die with a part? Zombie it up! No problem! Getting 2 turns for the machine piece is really nice.
For an effective orb generating support Titan, I roll defender with blessing, alpha lupi, any perks that generate more orbs and memeory of skorri. Very good and makes the raid like 2x easier
The build focuses purely on support and helping fire team getting supers
Drinking game: Everytime datto says build, you down a shot of hydrogen Peroxide.
Viking funeral/touch of flame with double stickies destroys captions in Aksis phase 1 and for boss damage on phase two
I had 2 Defenders. 1 on left and 1 on Right. 1 Tether on each side and Hammer in Middle during The damage phase we done pretty good
For Datto, and anyone else, on siege engine, I recommend if you are a Nightstalker, use Blood Bound and Predator, Your tether will come back faster with predator and any enemies in the radius that become tethered will get damaged by a shot to any one of the enemies and you can clear crowds fast. Boom, you probably run that already or you might not and this helped, let me know :D
Void walker basically guarantees you don't die
Health with every hit
Health with grenades
Grenades with every hit
Nova bomb health with every kill
just everything we already know
I use a Viking Funeral build for Sunsinger. For my team, it is a god send.
(Vosik and Aksis obviously)
so, the vibe I'm getting is. sunsinger>sun breaker. defender>other titans. warlocks for applying debuffs. hunters should go night stalker for tether
( This was the indoor encounter ) FYI, warlock master class 2014-20--
+imsocool1120 lol Warlock master race ftw
Viking Funeral lets a cannon holding sunsinger double their dps, almost. Pop radiance, and as you're charging your cannon shots, throw fusion grenades w/ viking funeral and touch of flame. Nades do around 30k damage between cannon shots, which i average 70k before buffs at 376 light. Test it out! I have a recording of my fireteam dropping him to almost the comma in his name on the first damage run with 3 sunsingers, 2 tethers, and a weapons of light bubble.
I know this is about subclasses, but dark-drinker is amazing on death Zamboni and both aksis phases
