If you are going to make a comment about me not resting the meat, you are not the first.. lol yes I forgot to rest the meat. Please do so if you wish. It was a cold night and a long video production. Please forgive me for not resting the meat......
Thank you!
Baum Grillin'z: I never let my husbands meat rest 🤷🏼♀️
Tends to taste great either way! :)
Lisa Smith what the fuck
No I will not forgive. No mercy.
Meat can rest in your belly. Let the haters hate.
Some things to note when using a salt block. 1. A hot salt block imparts almost no salt to the meat, just a terrific sear. You will still need to salt your meat as usual. 2. Using the block cold to serve anything WILL impart salt flavor to the food. 3. It will hold that heat for 3-5 hours. So remove the food from it soon as it's done or it will continue cooking. 4. Clean up it easy, using only a scrub brush and a little water. Maybe a scraper if really burnt on. No soap needed at all.
Such great tips! Thank you for sharing! I really enjoy cooking with my salt block!
Excellent video - we just got out salt block and man, you're right ...... the steak was amazing ....! Thanks for sharing your video ...!
I've been researching this after getting one as a gift. Results are all over the place, with some people experiencing good salt transfer and some saying they didn't get any salt transfer. And while I know you're getting lots of criticism for it but it seems like those who carved their steak on the block got more salt and those who took it right off the block didn't get much. One guy put oil on his steaks before putting them on the block so I'm sure that's why he didn't get any salt flavor. I've been watching videos for most of the morning on this thing and I'm more confused now than I was when I started, lol!
lol! It can be very confusing! I’ve experienced that the more moisture the food has the more salt flavor it pulls from the block. 👍 give it a try and see what happens!
@@BaumGrillinzBBQ I’m glad I saw this reply man! I finally did my first cook on mine. Did a couple of Rib-eyes. They came out great, snd the salt transfer was perfect. I filmed the cook and made a video too. Yours helped me learn a lot. Thanks!
That grill setup is pretty cool!
Thanks! I really enjoy it!
I was watching this video then realized I’ve already watched it. And then I realized. I like it the last time too
This was great and the food looked killer!! 👌
everything looks good thanks for sharing with us bro !!
Love the vid, that inspired me to get my salt block back out. Subscribed
Well, Mr. Baum, you've pretty much had your balls busted over not resting the steak and leaving it on the block. Just keep doing what you do. There really are a lot of people that enjoy your video's.
Thanks, I really do appreciate it. It can be tough sometimes.. but what can you do. lol thanks for the encouragement!!
@@BaumGrillinzBBQ you handled it great man. Appreciate your authenticity.
Thanks! Really appreciate it! Happy grilling!
Great video I just ordered one hopefully it gets here before Christmas🙏🙏😂
Thanks, just bought my 1st one…..will look forward to doing this
how to clean the block ? will the food make some dent on the salt block. i am planning to get one , :)
Nice video. How do you clean & maintain the salt block?
Nicely done brother. I picked up a Himalayan plate cause a friend was moving. After seeing your video and how good it made the steak with only pepper and of course, the salt plate. , I can’t wait to try it out!
I think you will enjoy it! Definitely makes a difference. The steak turned out really good! Appreciate you watching and commenting!
Amazing video mate , I went to the place where they get the salt from Himalayan in Pakistan 🇵🇰 I really enjoyed the hospitality and the food cooked on the brick . What a blessing in pakistan 🇵🇰 to have this salt which you won’t find anywhere else in the world 🌎, kudos
It’s 2 am I should be asleep but I’m watching this instead
Haha I hope you got some good sleep! Thanks for watching 👍
See, this is why I love my Weber Kettle! No matter what you're searching for you can find someone doing it on a Weber Kettle. I just got one of these as a gift, man. The company I got mine from puts almost no information on the box, so finding your video was great! I see you used the holding stand. Based on reviews I didn't think it would stand up to the grill very well. So where did you put the block to cool down?
Thanks for the tips !
Your welcome!!
Hey brother you NAILED IT!! Well done🥇🎖
Thank you! It was delicious!!
Did you leave it the entire time on the salt block pan with the handles? I have a block but no pan. Should i buy one?
Good job!
Nice, Got this salt block for Christmas and no directions. This makes sense and looks delicious.
That’s awesome! You will enjoy using it! Just make sure you take proper care of it. Merry Christmas and happy Grillin’z!
I love how the block is still hot while the steak is sizzling all fancy like they do at restaurants served right at your table at 100.00 plus.
"fine dining at its finest" at home
🔥🥩🥔🥗🍷🍾🍽️🔪🔥
It really is a great experience! So much fun to cook on!
Nice video man!!! I'm hungry just watchin'
Thank you! It really was a delicious steak! Such a good flavor! Thank you for watching!
You're entertaining...thx for a great vid!
Hehe I’m glad you think so! thank you for watching!!
Thank you very much! Going to cook 2 steaks tonight with my daughter on my new salt block! Woohoo! I'll let you know! I have a gas grill! Will try and start heating grill on low, to medium to high. It is well!
Hello, how did they come out?
Once you use the block a few times, it isn't as much of an issue to bring up the temperature slowly. My first few times, I was very careful to start at low, then medium, then high. However after having several of these, once you cook on them a few times, you can start at medium and let it warm for a few minutes and then go to high.
This is true! Thank you for sharing!
This looks so good!!
It was! It’s definitely one of my favorite ways to cook a steak! So good! I could go for one right now lol
Baum Grillin'z LOL same
If you wanted to heated incrementally in the oven how would you do that?
I’ve been wanting to buy one of those
I'm with this guy.....i don't think I could have waited either. Looks pretty damn delicious!
Thank you for the amazing video and teaching us how to do it. I learned this was a thing today.
I like to add garlic, butter and rosemary or thyme to my steaks when preparing them. How would they do on a salt block?
Are salt blocks mainly for grilling or are they god to use on the stove as well?
I love garlic butter and rosemary as well! You can use the salt block on your stove but just heat it up slowly! Very fun to cook on 😊 enjoy!
@@BaumGrillinzBBQ I actually saw or read somewhere not to use butter or oil on it. Still doing my research.
HI, Just bought 3 smaller blocks to use at work feeding some very hungry rugby players. Love the video.
Awesome! They are gonna have an amazing meal! Thank you for watching!!
It seems like a neat idea but boy it’s a lot of work... especially in the SNOW! That’s dedication! 🌹
I was thinking the same thing. I just got one as a gift. Kinda seems like a PITA, lol!
Had me mouth watering the hole video 😋😂👍
great video!!
Thank you so much!! I enjoyed making it as well as eating the steak! 😊
For the first half of the video, I thought that was sand in the background. Had this whole perception you were grilling down on the beach lol! Halfway through I realized it was actually snow lol! I immediately got cold and the tropical vibe was gone!
Hahaha! Sorry to ruin the tropical vibe! I would of loved to be by the beach.. lol
I saw his breath! It’s COLD!
Do you clean it after in any way?
Very good job!
Thank you!
Hey commenters, with salt blocks you can use the block as a serving/warming tray as well as for cooking. Just trying to save you folks some time from repeating the same comment hundreds of others have already posted.
+Baum Grillin'z the salt block seems like it would work well with a gas grill. What's your opinion? Also, how thick is the block and approximately long does it take for the block to cool off to a point where it can be picked up with a bare hand after it's been taken off the grill?
RedondoBeach2 definitely let that thing cool down all the way before trying to clean it because if you don't it will definitely fracture, which no one wants. When you clean it after its cool, use only water and a scrubby sponge, never use soap.
Great !
Looking great 👍 I'm gonna try mine rare then ppl can throw it back on the block if they need to. Great video.
Thats a really good Steak! 👍👍😉
Baum Grillin'z BBQ yes for salmon with Chili and Garlic ! Was fantastic 😉 ua-cam.com/video/o4cTkKrTsEA/v-deo.html
Yesssss😥what brand do you reconmend me to buy please.
I really like the charcoal companion brand. The one I used came with a holder which was nice. I think any brand will be just fine though! Just make sure you take care of it and it should last a long time. 😊
How did you clean?
May be a stupid question but can these be used on a Blackstone griddle and just start the burners off on low and gradually bring the temp up to the recommended temp?
You might be able to do it but I would have something underneath the salt block to raise it a little above the griddle surface. Maybe lay a cooking grate below it!
Looks Awesome! Now I regret telling my wife to skip out of getting me the Salt Block a while back. Won't make that mistake again.
lol! Ya definitely should of had her get ya one! You gotta give it a shot!
Dang man,,,you made me hungry! Thumbs up!~John
I always slowly heated my Himalayan salt block in the oven like every five minutes I would turn the oven up a hundred degrees till I hit about 350 then take it out to the grill
Great idea!! Would be much simpler
Nice video, bud! I’m not sure I’d buy a salt block, but I guess plenty of people are interested in it. Nearly 50k views? Nice. Stay warm out there!
What's the size of your salt block?
Just bought a salt block and thanks to Baum Grillin'z he reinforces the heating and cooking process for food...how long would you rest the meat, say a 16oz filet before serving?
Awesome! You will love your salt block! I would say 5 minute rest time would be good. Enjoy!
I've been using these for about 3 years now. I primarily use mine for seafood, fish and scallops are great on this, as is asparagus. However I do tend to use it for steak and chops as well. The flavor and cooking is so easy and consistent that I'm not sure I'll ever go back to cooking on a grill surface.
That is awesome! I really enjoy mine as well. Primarily use it for steaks but I need to give seafood a try on it!
Nice man
Thanks! I really enjoyed that steak!!
In INDIA these rock salts r available in reddish pink, pink & whitish pink colours, in powdered form or in 50 grams to one kilo in weight ( called Induppu) available at local ayurvedic (nattu marundu) shops in Tamil Nadu, INDIA & generally used in many homes.
No way, there is absolutely no way of availability for these Himalayan Pink salt blocks, India itself buys these blocks from Pakistan, these extra mineral which are 86 in numbers comes only from Pakistan which are preserved for 600 million years, none other country in the world has this natural gift from mother nature.
wtf are you saying it's Himalayan salt of course it's not in Pakistan@@prohuman7848
If you lick the plate, will it taste salty?
The guy at the grill deserves a few appetizers as he works.... When I do marinated chicken breast I have to pretend that I'm still hungry when I take it to the table.
Thanks for the video. Most of us realise the meat will continue to cook on a hot rock.
Filmed in Canada?
Does the block impart any or enough salt flavor?
Oh yes very much so! The salt block uses the moisture in the food to impart flavor. So a steak will really absorb the salt flavor! If you do try it and find that it’s too salty you can put down a thin base layer of oil to reduce the salt flavor a bit. Hope that helps! Enjoy!
You got a new subscriber, that looks like a great steak
Welcome to the channel! Steak is amazing on a salt block! You need to give it a try.
@@BaumGrillinzBBQ Yea I have a round salt block was gonna try some shrimp and maybe trout fillets
I’ve done a video with shrimp! I need to try trout fillets though! That sounds good!
I have noticed quite a few people on the UA-cam channels using these salt blocks do they really add enough salt flavor to the meat? Great looking job on the steak though!
I don't salt anything that I cook on these anymore, the flavor from the block is more than enough.
First video and NEW SUB! Hubs (Mark) just got me a block this week from a THRIFT STORE WOOT WOOT!!! Perfect condition! But haven’t used yet and a bit intimidated 😳. ❤️ Kristy in Missouri 😃🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Yay! You will enjoy that salt block!!! 😊
do I need to heat up the salt block this slow every time I use it?
You do still need to heat it up slowly but not as slow as the first time. When you first get your block you want to cure it at a very slow speed. After that you can increase the speed of the process just be careful as you don’t want to crack your block
What is the salt block sitting on? Not directly on the grill
The salt block has a small tray that it is sitting in. It’s to help transport the block.
It’s my 20th birthday and a buddy gave me a salt slab to cook some steak on, can’t wait to try it tonight
MonsterHD that’s so awesome! Happy birthday! You will be eating great tonight! It really does turn out a great steak! Happy birthday and happy Grillin’z!
Baum Grillin'z I cannot
Wait either. Thanks
For the reply love
Your channel 🔥🔥much support
From Minnesota
Thank you for the support! It helps a ton! 😊
we are manufacturer of Himalayan salt slabs we check some slabs on extreme heat directly, and try to destroy the slab but they are safe, then we export them,
nice
Where did you buy online
I got it on amazon! amzn.to/2pqZtxs
🤤🤤🤤 why you doing this to me man 😢 it looks so good
It tasted soo good too hehe sorry! You are gonna need to make one!
I need that grill..was that custom made
It’s just a weber kettle inside a table I built! It works great!
that looks juicy and tasty 🎉❤❤❤
I wanna buy one! You made me hungry.
You will have to give it a try! I really enjoy my salt block. It gives so much flavor to the food. Thank you for watching 😊
That is New York Strip Stake. Great job!
👍
Comment before the video starts : just by looking at this i reaally want it
Am from Pakistan
Leave your e-mail will provide you such pink salt block extracted from mine.
Where did you get your BBQ sign?
I believe I got it at target on sale
Awesome - just got one, gonna do some quorn sausages on it
Yum!!! That’s going to be very good!!
Can this be done on a regular stove?
Yes it can! Make sure you do not heat it too fast. Place it in a cold oven and turn heat up to 250. Once you hit that temperature remove from oven for 30 minutes. Then return to oven and set temperature to 400. Once you reach 400 pull out of oven and place on a heatproof surface. You are now ready to cook! Enjoy and thank you for watching!
can you use other stone for cooking ?
Some people do cook on stones. But you have to be very careful as some types of stones will explode (air pockets inside rock make them burst) make sure you do research prior to cooking on any stone.
Yes...they have restaurants that cook on lava stone in Germany
Hey that’s my last name! Hermano? Awesome video!
How do you clean it?
Moisten the salt block with a damp sponge (do not use soap). Scrub the block with a soft brush or green scouring pad and wipe clean with a sponge. Try to keep the block as dry as possible - the less water the better. Repeat until the block is free of any cooked on food! Hope this helps!
*sizzle sfx intensifies*
Is that salt block reusable? Does it ... melt... with time?
It will last you a very long time if you take good care of it! Many many cooks can be done with one. It will get smaller over time as you cook because the salt will dissolve....
plz give me a slice
Steak is beyond well done, by the end of the video.
I still enjoyed it! Things can tend to cook longer when your trying to get different shots and what not when filming. I’ve gotten better!
🤙🏻👍🏻🤟🏻
That is either a New York strip or the leanest ribeye you could possibly find.
Oh my goodness young Mr. Baum; you failed to let that steak rest... 😁😂🤣😅😅🤣😂😁
Is there really a huge difference using a salt block vs just adding salt at the end?
I believe so.The salt block really gives it a good flavor. I don’t know how to explain it. I suggest you give it a try and see for yourself! They sell smaller blocks so you can try it without spending too much.
Baum Grillin'z Baum Grillin'z thanks I just ordered one from amazon, I’ll give it a try!
Excellent! You will have to let us know how you like it! :)
Looks great, about to cook steak on ours for the fist time. However I'm not going to leave it on the the block, it's just going to overcook it.
Yes definitely room it from the block when it reaches your desired doneness!
The whole thing about resting a steak is a bunch of B.S. Eat when you want hot or warm.
Absolutely! Sizzling hot only. Cooled down steak is a far less enjoyable experience.
🤤
😋
At 6:57 I screamed "Hell yeah!"
I’m hungry for another one myself!
Why didn't you use your house oven at different temperatures and to bring it up to 500 degrees in stages. It's easier than doing on the grill. No cracking the salt block.
Late to the chat what the hell is that cool grill you're using
Its still cooking!
excellence cooking the BBQ , you make me hungry I want to eat this peice of meat .thank you for showing me .
Glad you enjoyed the video! It was one of my favorite steaks!
Why does it matter if you heat the salt block with a grill or in the oven?
You can do it either way! I just enjoy cooking on my grill
Baum Grillin'z does it change the taste at all?
The taste is the same I would say, if anything the grill will impart some flavor especially if you use a charcoal grill.
Looks like your stake can get ruined if u leave it or serve it on the block since it maintains the heat other than that that’s pretty bad ass👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
how is that dynamite dust taste dude
Why wouldn’t you just slowly heat in the oven prior
