What’s better night vision or thermal?

- “We own the night” has been an Army mantra for decades. It is also growing increasingly less true. But that doesn’t mean it is less true for you and your hooligan friends trying to do some shenanigans in the middle of the night. Thermal imaging and night vision goggles serve different purposes for nighttime activities, each with unique advantages. Thermal imaging detects heat signatures, allowing users to see living beings or heat-emitting objects even in complete darkness or through smoke and light fog. This makes it ideal for spotting wildlife or identifying intruders in various conditions. Conversely, night vision goggles amplify ambient light, providing a clearer, more detailed visual of the surroundings, which is useful for navigation or detailed observation in low-light but not pitch-dark environments. For the everyday civilian looking to enhance nighttime excursions, thermal imaging offers greater versatility and reliability in complete darkness, whereas night vision goggles provide more detailed visuals in partially lit settings. Pick your poison and have some serious fun. The @trijicon PATROL was my favorite tool for this application.
Should we be able to own this Tim ?
Would you want an age limit on those too?😂
Dual helmet mounted MH25s are effective for land nav, but nowhere near as good for nav as a pair of WP tubes. You also can't see through a windshield with thermal, but you can with NV. For coyotes, hogs, or other varmints the difference between thermal and NV is night and day -- even with the best and brightest WP tubes. NV shows you everything. Thermal shows you what's important.
Get it!!
Both. Nice 80 series.
Answer. Not going to that stupid cop conference in NJ and advocating for people’s rights to be taken advantage of. Good job you played yourself Tim.
Thermal is a powerful technology at about 10 yards. Total game changer at about 10 yards. But the shortcomings of thermal are significant as It cannot see through ordinary obstacles such as a wall, nor can it penetrate the water. I tried tracking fish once but failed. Maybe try using night vision someday but I do not have the gear right now
10 yards! What! Look at ATN thermal. Some units have 1,000+ range.
My take away from an admittedly short video is, to make a stew. Good things are probably better together.
NV for CQB and thermal for longer distance.
I can tell you have never served
Not being a “Vet Bro” and shilling for gun control?
😂 the “Lords Work” TK ❤🇺🇸 your candor ✌🏻👍🏻
Night vision indoor sometimes in the synthetic lighting it could blow the exposure to light making everything white
Thermal... obviously
So basically the winner is going to be able to hear the builds a night vision mounted unit that uses both infrared and standard night Vision effectively but don't worry it's not like our government will screw it up and then try to give it to the lowest bidder to build renewing our current situation have him build it in China
Answer....BOTH....We must find a way to not be poor...long enough to buy these tools at which point we become poor again!
i prefer thermal over night vision
