That's the amazing thing about Judo to me is that just when you think someone is winning and the guy is like 1 inch away from hitting the ground, they somehow turn it around and slam the other guy who looked like he was winning! This is what I want to do!!!
Nothing magical about it, years of training, sweat and discipline.....from a youngster to a man/woman.....you build a certain strength in tendons and muscles.....a great center of balance.
When you consider -60 is probably the most fiercely contested category, his 6 All Japan Champs, his world title, world and Olympic medals and Asian champs look all the more impressive. -60 gets passed around like a hot potato because globally the world average weight is 62kg. So much talent in that division and so hard to stay on top because the lightweights need absolutely incredible speed, power and endurance, and the speed and agility with which they move also tends to result in lots of injuries, or finish their careers early when they can’t generate that quick movement anymore.

Most of the kouchi makkikomis would be valid today, because he dosen't grab the leg. He would use them today easaly
