After driving these for a bit you do get a feel for the shifting and what it does with different throttle inputs. Think some people have also figured out how to teach it to shift a bit better, possibly with a Delphi clone depending on exact model. If it's jerky when setting off then the clutch actuator probably needs taking of, cleaning and regreasing. Evilution is an incredible resource for these.
Drove OTR for over 20 years, but lost count of how many trucks. Best tool for removing junk vinyl lettering . . . Ronsonol and a fingernail . . . and it removes the goo too 😊
Gl5 has way more sulphur and phosphorus additives that can hurt the bronze and copper in syncros, so unless the manufacturer says otherwise Gl5 should not be used in a synchronized manual transmission, and I believe the transmission in this smart for two has synchromesh rings like a standard manual.

Appreciate the info! I got the clutch to engage smoothy by adjusting the actuator so it drives pretty good. That being said I very rarely drive it.

where are your paddle shifters?? That makes shifting way better
This one has a manual mode on the floor shifter I've used a bit, does help out you're right
