- I finally got a chance to try the new Yonex Percept 97. This is the update to possibly my favorite Yonex racket of all time, the Vcore Pro 97. Does it still play the same? Let's find out!

I demoed the Percept 97 today, as well as the Ezone 98. I loved the Percept and will probably be buying two of them. The Ezone felt head heavy and somewhat tough on my arm, elbow. Strokes, volleys and serves felt great. I love the feel of the racket

Nice Review. I would love to test the new Percept, both the 97 and the 97H (Now that the swingweight is more maneuverable) I am currently experimenting with the Pro Staff RF97 and lately I end my sessions with discomfort in the forearm, shoulder and wrist, but the truth after Having tried quite a few rackets it is very hard to find one that offers that stability, heavy spin, punch and control. What strings would you have put on this Yonex Percept if you had had the opportunity to do so? because in almost all the reviews of this racket they all agree that it is stiffer and more responsive than the last Vcore Pro 97. C10 pro is basically a soft RF97, I love it
I'm neutral on the new name, makes precious little difference. What I would appreciate though is if this channel's presenter had any name. There is definitely a feeling of aloof enigma that for me creates an undeniable DISCONNECT.
I demoed the VCore Pro 97D (not sure if it was the Pro version or not but) I too play doubles and the astonishing accuracy only encouraged shots closer to the lines. Wouldn't you know the daring shots went where I wanted also with greater confidence and speed. Incredibly inspiring racquet.
Remember I'm a good inch shorter than you yet I could slap shot volleys from the baseline if needed. This really threw off my opponent's confidence and comfort zone, naturally I was delighted because a larger head I couldn't generate the same racquet head speed. Accuracy was so gratifying I'm on the hunt for a VCore Pro 97D clearance priced.
What you didn't touch on (and I'm shocked as to why) was I didn't hear you complain about the feel if at all??? Yet 13% less vibration means more dampening and LESS connection despite the comfort or controlling fast serves. Really fail to see the logic with that but TBH I got ample feedback with VCore Pro 97D if not just a hair mushy. Not as crisp in a perfect world still that racket challenged me to dare my opponents at any line. So definitely can understand you liking the Precept for all 3 serve disciplines, totally agree Yonex has done something special there.
Let's get too your predominant gripe. You demo many racquets so can't criticize you for this but believe that you are faulting the racquet honestly but still inaccurately. Yonex says outright that the true sweetspot is higher than center. This to me is a huge selling point. It means you can crush those slow balls if** you hit the ball further out where surprise! The Yonex sweetspot is extended too where your racquet head is swinging faster than normal sweetspot. 🏆To me that's the real true beauty and secret power of the Isometric head. Frankly it's why at my age I had the guts to try any* 97" racquet at all 🤭
OK I should have pointed out how I knew how you weren't hitting with fully extended arm and strings. Simple your strings were really frayed more towards the center of the Precept head rather than higher up the hoop. Admittedly Yonex is coye about the higher up the hoop best power scenario they worked so hard too perfect before anyone else had the confidence too.
Frankly the servo dampening (a really dodgey name) has left me preferring the VCore Pro 97D. It had acceptable mushiness, the Precept I'm hesitant to even demo now as I do need a decent amount of crispness as anyone would appreciate.
String review suggestions please Open Court. Wasabi & Wasabi X by Toroline and Restring Zero. I'm hearing incredible tension maintenance (as in twice as good) and industry leading snapback. That's no guff 🤔
As for Precept lack of power, I obviously disagree. Really cool if you could demo either of these strings on the Yonex Precept 97 so I can hear your thoughts on power accuracy and control again. I'm hearing in comments you can also hit flat f/h's & b/h's with the latest Wasabi X. That really caught my ear as I'm loathe to replace the Alu Power Rough on my Gravity Pro 200. Uh-huh bought my first Head racquet and it's a real spoiler just like easier spin without sacrificing that legendary power Alu Power brings to the Gravity Pro power. Thanks for opening my eyes to Head racquets. You were first UA-cam presenter ever to do so. That racquet very significantly helped me win a doubles match in which one game went 16 Deuce points before coming out on top. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy what a nail biter ‼️‼️‼️😂😎👋🎾
It's a flexible racquet. Unless you have chronic TE, combining a flexible layup with Nylon strings results in very mushy feel, not exactly the best setup for reviewing this racquet. It will play and feel very differently if you use thin gauge poly for example.

Hi, how does this compare to the Head Prestige tour 2021 (the 95" model). I am a S&V player also though I mostly play doubles so I think of going up in racquet head size but maybe not too much b/c I have 1h BH.
I've never used the prestige tour but if you don't want to go up much in head size, the new vcore 95 could be a nice alternative. Because of it's larger sweetspot, it feels more like a 98. You can add weight in the head to make it play more like a prestige
thanks for the reply. I tried the 6th or 7th version of the vcore 95 and preferred the prestige tour. Is the new one much more different? There may also be a 2024 Prestige so I may wait. I think every S&V player should try the prestige for fun :)@@opencourt808
Percept 97 vs ezone 98 2022? Which is better if i am recovering from Shoulder. injury?
If it's just comfort, the new Percept line feels softer than the Ezone
Yonex handles are gold medium between Prince and Head roundish ones where you never know which grip you are holding until you check the position of the racquet in your hands by seeing, not by feeling it and between i.e. Tecnifibre, where the shape of the handle is so pronounced that the only grip you hold naturally is the continental one. That is why, Yonex, please do not change it.
It is true that Yonex grips are not flared, but it allows to put more leverage by holding it deeper down that with other racquets producers.
It would be great if You could review the Percept 100D.
I am a user of Ezone 98 2022, naturally born serv and volley, just like You, who needs a racquet which gives some help to my groundstrokes and that does not disturb my serv and volley game, so I am very curious which one would be better for this kind of play style - the Percept 97 or Percept 100D. Thank You in advance for the reply.

How about Blade Pro 18x20? It gives me much more stability+placement for my groundstrokes and volleys. But my flat serves are inconsistent vs those I made with Ezone Tour
@@tophersuwita Blade Pro has too much swingweight and balans which is too head heavy for me, but it is a great racquet for sure for people who can handle it. I expect from the racquet that I will be able to swing with it consistently for couple hour of the same day (tournament play- 2, 3 matches at least). I doubt it is the case with Blade Pro 18x20 for me. Although, I played with Wilson (K)Blade 18x20 for couple of years and it was great, now it is too much for me.
The Regna 98... hmmm... the legendary racquet that everybody talks about but only few were really using it. I am sure that it is unique, but doubt I will ever have a chance to play with it. Thank you for the recommendation🙂
@@zulugula5494 I do not join any tournament so I can afford using such racket haha. Nevertheless, the plow is very different between BP and EZT/Regna, BP is very solid, while Yonex gives some "booming"
this racquet felt more or less than same. disconnected and soft. i really didn't understand people who say this feels "crisp".
This review is based on using a soft multifilament nylon strings. Evidently not a setup to get a crisp feel which requires a poly. That's the difference.
