Hello from Montreal-Canada!, I was thinking about starting the jiffy for the first time to sprout my tomatoes but with you I learned that I have to wait until end of march. I love your videos! thanks. 🥰🍀

It’s a great learning channel for first time using hydroponic gardens. I plan on watching each video, there is always something new to learn. Thank you very much.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I use Jiffy pellets to start annuals with very small seeds… almost 100% success germinating and then transplanting red poppies, California poppies and scarlet and blue flax. Tomatos I start in half-filled quart pots and then remove lower leaves and add soil around the stem as they grow. This makes the stems firm. Always fun experimenting.

I'm about to start annual flowers for the outdoor too. Can't wait for the spring!

Hi Lan, I remove the wrap around the jiffy pot before transplanting bc I found they don’t decompose after the growing season. Also I just ordered a Gardyn 2.0 with your code! Thank you for the great content on your channel!

Oh, thanks, I didn't know. I see the roots sticking out too much so I assume the wrap will be dissolved.

The plastic lids that came with my Jiffy pellets did not seal properly over my seedlings. Is this a common problem or am I doing it wrong? 3 sides fit snuggly but the 4th side did not. I ended up putting the lids on and then covering with some saran wrap. But it's been a pain to keep opening them up to see how my seeds are doing. Any help you could give me would be appreciated.

How often do you water the Jiffy pellets during the first 2 or 3 weeks (while waiting for germination)? For those that did not germinate, can you reuse the pellets and plant new seeds in them?

I did not need to water them the first 2 weeks. As long as you keep the cover on, they stay moist the whole time. And no, you can not reuse the pallets. When they are ready to be transplanted, you unwrap the pallets and place the whole thing into the soil.
Just realized I misread your question. Yes, you can try to reuse the ones that did not germinate.

Any updates on the gardyn 2.0? I just received mine yesterday thanks to your channel 😊

My 2.0 is doing well, I harvested multiple times already given it's only been up for 2 months. My tomato is producing fruits. I will do an update video soon.

@@plant4table that's awesome! Do you think Roma tomatoes would do well in gardyn? We make a lot of salsa and sauce here at the house and cherry tomatoes aren't really the right tomatoes to use for that....

Should try soil blocking, basically the same thing as the jiffy pods but you don't have to buy them. I used to use jiffy as it does the root pruning but soil blocks are easier and cheaper.

You can use Wall-O-Water water jacket for your tomatoes which protects your plants up to 20F. So you can plant them out 4-6 weeks earlier.

Like all of my i door plants, I have light on 16 hours and 8 hours off. I watered from the bottom whenever I saw the cube a bit dry off, but don't let them dry completely. When they are wet, they are black. They turn brown when dry.
