Those second class carriages and seats look more comfortable than most of the UK's current first class, actually... Of course fire safety and other security measures matter, but I am still convinced that part of the reason why you tend to get ironing board seats these days, is to cut costs, like with every other damn thing in today's economy. People like to complain about how things were in the days of British Airways or British Rail pre-privatisation and there were reasons to do so, but the seats were always undeniably more comfortable in either case, no question about it. These days, I'd rather have them introduce free, but mandatory seat reservations (like for TGVs in France or here in Spain with our AVE trains) on Intercity routes and then let the trains have more comfortable and spacious seats, rather than letting them squeeze in a couple more seats per carriage, at the cost of both leg-room and comfort. Greetings from Madrid, Spain!
I think 2019 was the first year. I thought that it was going to run again this year but the last time I looked I did not see it on their website. Maybe I was just looking too early.

I'd like to see longer trains, as that would also help reduce overcrowding

Awesome video I've subscribed to your channel
Thank you!
Will it happen again this year. Or does it happen once every couple years. Plus the carriages do look nice.
