- Silver Convention were a West German Euro disco recording act of the 1970s. The group was originally named Silver Bird Convention or Silver Bird.
The group was formed in Munich by producers and songwriters Sylvester Levay and Michael Kunze. Silver was Sylvester's nickname. In 1974 they had a hit in the UK with the song Save me. Since it was originally a studio group, from that moment on, singers were sought to perform.
Linda G. Thompson (Linda Übelherr), Penny McLean (Gertrude Wirshinger) and Ramona Wulf (Ramona Kraft) were hired. Silver Convention had two big hits in the United States; Fly, Robin, Fly, the text of which consisted of only six words, was in the top charts of the 1975 charts for three weeks and won the Grammy Award for best instrumental R&B interpretation. Successor Get up and boogie was number two for three weeks in 1976.

"Get up and Boggie....that's right"! That is all the words you need to make a great classic disco track from the birth period of Disco! Love it.
a great song but this was not the "birth period" at all, this was the mainstream disco era. it had been going on in the black/gay/latino clubs for years before this.
Their other hit also had six words, '1) Fly 2) Robin Fly, 3) up 4) into 5) the 6) sky'
The birth period of disco is around 1973-1974. This was made in 1976

A #2 hit for Silver Convention in the Spring of 1976. It also hit #2 on the Disco charts. It went to #1 on the Cash Box charts and to #25 on the Adult Contemporary charts. It went to #1 in Canada, #7 in the United Kingdom, #15 in Ireland, #19 in Australia, and to #33 in France and New Zealand.
