I'm very glad you enter to this theme. I'll be expecting your reviews with attention.
I use miniDPS live Dirac room correction and I can't go back. It's a lot of work to do with and a combination of many things. First you attack the fisical world, then the digital world.

I’m using Dirac on both of my systems and I’m very pleased with it. I hope you’ll report on it.

Hello Hans, I really appreciate your perceverance during these extreme temperatures we are having now, looking forward to your follow up video's regarding room correction. I experimented in the past with room correction. I did not like it and I agree good positioning of loudspeakers is crucial. Unfortunately the waf factor will negate this in a lot of households. Perhaps we can have a good compromise in the future with a decent waf factor and room correction (waf: Wife Acceptance Factor term invented by Bose if my memory is right). Just cool down a little bit it started to rain over here...

I just bought the Accuphase DG-68, a top of the range DSP, and they're suggesting I place the unit between the pre-amp and the amp (I have a McIntosh C1100 preamp, and a MC462 amp)... my other options are to place it before the pre-amp but then things get messy with my DAC/streamer (a dCS Rossini)... what do you think? Shall I just put it between the pre-amp and amp?

This is a much discussed topic on our forum, thanks for your time Hans. Quick question about your three systems, are they currently up to date as to whats in them. Curious.

Hello Hans, i really like your comprehensive video's. Started with gathering info on PI streamers, i came across your video about room correction. Past few weeks i came across the lyngdorf integrated digital amplifier with room correction, and have listened it in a unplanned demo; it sounded quite surprising! Now, i wonder if such would be possible to accomplish with for instance a raspberry pi with a good mike. Can you tell us more about this, and maybe listen to the lyngdorf as well? Curious to your opinion about it. Myself, up until quite recent, was not so happy with dsp, correction, etcetera, but love the Dolby systems for movies. Also, facing the same issues like most parents, my high end set has been in the storage for the past 15 years, and now im re-discovering high end audio, and conclude that the world has changed, and nothing is what is ever has been... So, im ready to learn again in this (to me) "new" world of dsp's, corrections, and equalisers, with class D amps and so on. (what happened to class A??? )

Hi Hans. What do you think about the Audyseey room correction system that camels build in into several AVRs like Denon or Onkyo? Did you made ever a video about this specific system? I have experienced with my Denon what you have described. the correction has been made upstream of the amplifier, so not taking care of the sound source. In my system I am getting a very different sound quality depending on the sound source. I am not sure if this is the only reason why this happens. I also believe that the way the DSP on the Denon AVR is also the one treating the source data in very different ways , son the sound quality highly depend on the source. Your comments will be highly appreciated

    Hi Hans,
I would be curious to know if, in your experience, DSP-based room correction tends to enhance or diminish / normalize differences between gear. In other words, say that you are evaluating a new amp in your setup 1 (which, if I’m not mistaken, uses a DSP). Would you keep the DSP enabled during the evaluation and why?

The influence of the amp is limited compared to room modes. BTW if I would review amps (which I don't) , I would have reviewed them without the MiniDSP first.

Thanks Hans for the kind reply. Yes, the amp evaluation was just an example, sorry for the confusion. I guess you would still evaluate a DAC in the same way, i.e. with the MiniDSP, first, correct?

Roon seems to have all the options but it’s very hard to assess how to use it.

    Hi Hans
I'm can't wait for your reviews on this topic. I'm very leery of using a ~$200 DSP, especially when going from analog to digital to analog.
Btw, I had no idea the Netherlands climate was so mild. I looked it up and your winters aren't that cold and summers aren't very hot. No wonder so many of your people ride bikes.

We also typically have AC in the metro DC area, which helps. Most Northern European houses don’t. 45°C is just crazy for Holland! That’s Phoenix AZ weather.
