It will be ready when it's ready. I am a one man band. Some review samples just arrived and need to be returned within a limited time. So they have priority over the jitter story. Sorry.
The Hans Beekhuyzen Channel I understand completely now. We call it FIFO in my business, first in first out! Can’t do it any other way. Keep up the great work, I look so forward to each and every review. 👍
Hans, you opined in this video that linear phase filters sound best to your ears. Later, you mention that it is advantageous for even non-MQA files to be played back on an MQA capable DAC because the MQA reconstruction filters would be used. I thought (but am not 100% certain) that MQA filters were slow rolloff minimum phase filters, and not linear phase. I'm sure there's a genuine explanation that can help reconcile these two statements. Or perhaps I didn't understand some of the existing explanation. Would you please clarify?
@@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel I do like the sound of many of the mqa albums I hear, but need to listen on more than just the dragonfly red. thanks for the kind reply. Best regards.
Hey Hans! You've got great ears, so I'm very curious about what Roon settings you use for sample rate conversion, if any at all. I read many talking about PCM or DSD upsampling benefits and how they prefer filter X/Y. Well, I find no differences between them, although my system is somewhat resolving, is it me? I always have the impression that no resampling is maybe even cleaner... A suggestion for maybe doing a video on the topic. Cheers!
I use no upsampling and no DSP functions at all.For as far as upsampling is concerned, that depends on the DAC used. If the upsampling done by Roon is better than the upsampling or reconstruction filter in your DAC, use it. Otherwise, don't.
Makes sense. I am also using Mytek’s Brooklyn DAC+. I think that it may be better doing it (at least using the MQA decoder). Not sure if it does upsampling or just reconstruction from the original sample rate. Tks
TIDAL has a lot of MQA Files with a Resolution of 44,1 KHz. At least my Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 Digital states so. What are the benefits of 44,1 KHz MQA to normal CD Quality?
MQA does 3 things, the most important being the repair of time smearing in the recording and correction of the time smearing in the reconstruction filter at playback. That is even more important for lower sampling rates than it is for higher sampling rates. Watch ua-cam.com/play/PLMbsmejHnP8EPHNgxSxrVvQi7-dW7gm9o.html
I think you should open a exception in the US$2k limite to review, and asking for the new Chord Hugo M-Scaler. It can be a game changer. Rob Watts personally told me three things: 1) USB cables doesnt matter anymore 2) Power supply doesnt matter for it 3) Media server doesn't matter anymore.
Thank you for all the explanations of the science behind the sound. I really appreciate the time you take to explain it.
Thanks...looking forward to the complete series.
Knowledgeable and simple, but not simplistic, explanations everywhere in the channel. Keep it up, Hans.
🙏🏻
Hans, we’ve all been patiently awaiting the Jitter educational video. PLEASE, update us as to when we can expect it. Thanks so very much.

Complex but we'll explained - thanks
OMG are you a genius in this field you sure sound like one LOL keep up the great work.... Beautiful explanation by the way

The MQA filters sound better than normal minimum phase filters. Try it.

@@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel Gotta love questions you've already answered in your other videos 🤭

Rob should be careful. He stated equally about the digital inputs his DAC's and later stated that he preferred the optical input.....
While I have lots of respect for his work, I hold reservations with regards to what Rob feels makes for 'good sound'.
