Wow I am so pleased that you actually still upload in 2019. Usually when I find an old helpful video Sometimes educated people like yourself just stop creating content and I always feel bummed for discovering them so late. I am so happy to know a helpful woman is still dedicated to educating the people! I subscribed ❤️
When I did jury duty the case was someone sprayed mace to get someone off their spouse. At the end in the notes from the judge said you find this person is guilty because spraying mace is rude and it happened on such and such day at X address. We said not guilty but I wonder if any other jury would have gone with guilty due to spraying mace is rude.
Thanks for sharing @delightful - if the instructions were written with 'and' as you described- then you needed both parts. So no- they should have decided the same as you if they had the same evidence.
@@FinelyRevealed Wait, are you saying "should have" with regard to how a jury is supposed to decide? There's no such thing as a "you should decide like this" with regard to a jury; jurors can vote however they want because it's impossible to enforce "should have voted this way" dictates. That's a fundamental aspect of a fair jury-based system. If the jury isn't free to decide the way they want, there shouldn't even be the pretense of having a jury.
This is My First Time And I Was Selected To Be On A Jury All The information That is Being Given To Us!! Seems A Little Bit Overwhelming At Times And I Felt Very Confused. But I'm Trying To Listen to it.
Hi @Raymond Please don't sweat it- just listen and then at the end follow the directions and above all.... ASK for information once the decision time comes- some attorneys don't tell you this but you can ask for testimony to be read back- you can ask to see any documents used in the trial etc. Let us know how it goes!
Hi Lizzy- it depends on the case. Normally 3-4 days. When you get to Court the Judge will tell everyone for that particular case. If you have plans for travel, dr appt, surgery etc that could be impacted please tell them and you will likely be excused.
Hi Lisa. What paper were we referenced in? Pay for jury duty from the state Court is a daily stipend - it varies based upon where you serve. In Illinois there is no daily stipend. Elsewhere it runs from $6 in Texas up to to $50 in Connecticut, Georgia, Colorado and Arkansas. Also in Tenn, Neb, DC, Mass, La, Col, Conn & Alabama you get paid time off from the employer. Fed jury duty pays $50 per day up to 10 days and then $60. Fed grand jury pays $50 and then $60 after 45 days
If they're smart they aren't putting me on the jury they will let this grieving mother with a lot things to do and thats trying to understand the death of her only child heal and stay at my house and and have my yard sales. Its District Court its a Criminal case and I've already determined whoever the criminal is they are Guilty! The Police don't lie and Prosecutors don't bring cases to court that they can't win. Criminals ask for a jury trial bc they like their odds of swaying at least one juror through their attorney to a Not Guilty verdict its not here!
I'm happy to be a juror so I can vote my conscious. I'd vote not guilty on an escaped slave for the fugitive slave act. I hope everyone here would do the same, and is willing to vote their conscious. Always remember that an evil law should never be followed.
How about just doing what the law states. The person is innocent unless the state or federal giver can prove guilt. It has nothing to do with your personal beliefs or biases.
@@Prosecute-fauci I will never vote guilty on a person who is charged with a law that is not moral. The average American commits three felonies a day. Law has gone too far, so it is incumbent on us to check it.

How long does jury duty last??

I went to this site because the paper said it would tell us how much we get paid for doing our jury duty and you did not say anything about that

So sorry for your loss Mary. The jury coordinator may be sympathetic and excuse you - doesn't hurt to ask.
Do I need to right English good enough
Just to listen and follow along is all that is required.

@@user-tz5uq2bt1s as I said, the person is innocent by default.
@@Prosecute-fauci I think maybe there was a misunderstanding. I am referring to jury nullification. Are you?
sounds like a dreadful experience,
