Mutant idea. “The deceiver” pretends to be a guide.
Maybe with a serpent mask
I love that idea and it would fit this universe so well.
I think a fox or wolf posing as a sheep would be a better choice
Or maybe a mask resembling that of a moth that has those eye markings? Although, a play on the wolf in sheep's clothing trope might be cool. Maybe a cute mask of a dog, to signify loyalty and playfulness, but its slightly askew to reveal the eerily realistic head of a ram.
However, there's also the factor of The Red Lady. She has a serpent like body, and wears a pretty mask over her deformed face. She might already play the part of the false guide in this universe, looking at the similarities. I think it would also fit her character, but that's just me.

Pumpkin head: “it ain’t much but it’s honestly work”
Lol
Idea for guide: An ox guide. Hear me out, the ox guide used to be a single mother of 2 who’s husband had cheated on her. She never was seen as “evil” or anything of the sorts by others, never even had anything bad to say about her husband. Loved her kids to pieces and adored them, until the entity came and since she was such a good person she was turned into the ox guide, while her children stayed normal. The ox guide protected her children as much as possible until a mutant (specifically the nanny) took them away from her. She was destroyed, but could show no emotion, the only thing she could do was hum her youngest child’s favorite lullaby. This lullaby is said from witnesses to be the most relaxing thing they’ve ever heard and even in a situation where they could have died, they felt comfort in her. What comes with being the ox guide is strength, which is something she really embodied even as a human because of having the strength of divorcing her husband and gaining full custody of her kids and being able to grieve with all of that. The ox guide is not strong in the sense you may think, her lullaby though not to humans, is almost like a tranquilizer to mutants, she’s able to have the mutants on the ground almost in a paralyzing way. She comes to help people, children, adults, people with a child like spirit, or people that remind her of her lost children the most frequently, but still helps all types of the remaining people and gives off almost a motherly vibe along with the normal feeling of warmth and calmness.
Lemme know what you think of her!! Couldn’t come up with a name though
i bet she would be a round, chubby, and short but could suplex a monster twice her size and she would have texas accent and after saving someone she would be like "are you alright sugar?"

I think the paralysis kind of gets rid of the point of the anti-mutants but maybe if she stunned them, preventing an attack for a little while (most effective on the nanny which will prevent two future attacks on children and one future attack for adults)?

You should make a child character, they are brushed off as Imaginary friends when a kid talks about them but they are not imaginary. I would suggest a set of twins? They could work for one of the other mutants like a messed up family of sorts lol

It’s nice to finally get a protagonist character in this really cool universe of yours! I love how simple yet still sort of creepy Pumpkin Head’s overall appearance. I also like how upon first hearing it you wouldn’t think his name makes any sense at all. I hope the other guides are like that too. 💞

Character idea: “the puppeteer” he is tall basically just skin and bone he has button eyes and a ear to ear grin with mouth sewed shut ( idea from someone else on a different comment I did) and he takes kids/ people he finds wandering around or homeless and he strings three through the neck,arms,and legs and he will make dance/ be his puppets until he finds a new victim and he feeds off of their pain/fear. And when he is done with the people he has already made his puppets he hangs them from the walls and ceilings

Hey did you stole my idea (because The Farmer clay I made up a story about The Puppeteer only different I said that his hands are the cross that control puppets and the strains are his veins coming down his fingernails like snakes and make the kids kill each other)

Once I saw the character and red the title, I felt like he'd be more of a guide then a protagonist. If the ace were to protagonist(s) of this series(which he might), it'll probably be a group of teens (13 -16) and their main goal would be to defeat *the entity*

That would be an interesting concept, but I'm honestly not sure it could exist. I personally headcanon that when someone becomes a guide, they sacrifice their humanity to become a higher being. I don't really think he has a human face to be honest. Maybe all the guides have faces similar to mutants, and they wear the masks to set themselves apart. However, because guides are also sort of "holy" beings, maybe their faces are like certain mythology where if you gaze upon them you will die, or even similar to biblically accurate angels.
Of course, these are just my own ideas and headcanons for the series, there is no confirmation of any of my theories to be true, but I figured it might be nice to share fan theories.

Idea: A mutant that became a guide during a mishap with a guide during a rescue attempt. The two ended up switching roles and are forever linked. The new guide has intimate knowledge of the mutant world having been one himself. However the new mutant has special abilities to evade the new guide and other guides because he understands their methods so well. So two characters to make!!

If so I would be so mad. Like Ace spent so long on these and if they were taken for a mainstream game I would be annoyed. Ace should turn this into a book series.

I like that although it is a positive character, he is still somewhat creepy. While they're not evil, the story behind guides is also quite sad.

This is soooooo cute! The design is so appealing and friendly but still retains the creepy style. Your design reminds me of "Battered Bunnies" which is a drawing by Vonnart. I think you would find inspiration in his art if you haven't seen it already! His other character "Fall Bringer" is really cute too

It’s like pumpkin head shows mostly at farmer range and protects you from farmer bring you to his rabbit hole then sending you off again
Maybe you can make the character that we play as and tell a story of all the times the character escaped their grasp or slayed them.

AMAZING i never even though of playing as one of those big guys like the chef i though of only kids being main charcter this is really cool.

Kind of already headcannoning that Pumpkin Head and the Farmer knew each other before the Entity attacked. And that now they clash with each other more than other Guides and Mutants do.

Mutant idea!! A mutant that has a copy of each guide mask, and tries to lure people to their demise. You can tell the difference because of the feeling. Mostly because it releases some kind of pheromone that makes you see it as legit as a real guide.

When I seen the way his hand was positioned I immediately thought “what’s up brother” but I abousetly love this series!
I love him! It's really interesting to have them associated with an animal. I'd love to see some non-traditional figures, maybe a guide associated with like a moth but instead of camouflaging for birds they camouflage for specific mutants?

They should make your characters in a game it’d be so cool
I'm imagining this guy in terms of game mechanics is both the tutorial (teaches you how to move, run, jump etc) but also the way you respawn. When one of the mutants is about to catch you, the world freezes as he appears and tells you to take his hand. The world blurs around you and he says he will take you to a safe place. He will always ask if you want to go to the closest safe place (closest respawn point) or somewhere far away (either the beginning of level, or out of the level to the game map if not a linear story- more like Cupheads than Little Nightmares)

Theory: Pumpkin Head is one of the Mother's gremlins but instead of being evil they were good. Just a thought but interesting none the less.

Also I love the concept of guides that protect humans and try to put balance in a world full of monsters and mutant, guides that were once normal human beings themselves, who were once a neighbor, a friend, a loving parent, a sibling, a sweet old person or a simple child. I can't wait to learn more and see how this universe turns out

Pumpkin head is so awesome! I think a Fox would be a good idea for a guide as well! While Pumpkin Head has the rabbit’s speed, the fox guide possesses the ability to tunnel through the ground to rescue ones who are attacked by the mutants.
He would be really good helping people with the photographer, like he would be so fast the photographer wouldn’t be able to take the picture as fast :0

Fun idea to see come to fruition!
Here's a character idea: The Toymaker
He appears to be a tall, spindly man. Having little hair but his thick bushy mustache. This figure has many deformations on his body themed with his work. Such as a wind-up toy key sticking out of his hunched back, his nutcracker-like mouth, and his wooden complexion. He'll gift children with toys of his own making, which act as his eyes & ears across all over town. This is his method on finding victims, primarily that of the childrens' parents. Which he'll recycle their parts for his next batch of toys, often using their bones the most often.
i think that while these sculptures is masterfully done, perhaps giving the guides/heroes a more warm gray complexion, sort of like the color of pumpkin head’s mask could help make the character feel more comforting/“good”

Ok, this is incredible. I really like seeing these mutants and these guides; they're all so original! My favorite was the Farmer, because I like drawing ugli bald dudes a LOT, and the Farmer really reminded me of the drawings I tend to make. Here's an idea: The Brute: a mutant that is very large and strong. He wears a tattered tuxedo and a pair of shades, and he has a serious/mad expression. He is ginormous, so his hands would be bigger than the average human head, however he never uses his hands or his feet to hunt his opponents; instead his stomach opens, revealing a disgusting mouth with a very sharp, spiky tongue. He goes after adults.

Lovely. Positive characters in that game series are so rare they are like the reprieve you get from cool water in the desert.
Pumpkin Head reminds me a lot of the kid who gives you bread in the first game. I hope he got to grow up and keep helping people :P
I love Pumpkin Head, the mask is so creepy, but serene at the same time. I love the texture of the hair too.
