I was curious about the first two characters in 洞庭秋思 that translate to Dongting and the last two to autumn reflections or melancholy. Turns out 洞庭 is the name of the lake in question, that is to say lake Dongting located in northeast Hunan province. 非常好听
Hi Dennis, Thanks for playing. It's great play, I feel so peaceful with this wonderful music. I am a beginner Xiao player from Singapore, is this Widesound xiao good for beginner? Or I shall get a traditional bamboo xiao? Thanks a lot.
Thank you for your kind words. The Widesound xiaos have their benefits, and they also have a beginner range. But I would advise starting with a traditional bamboo xiao and get comfortable with it as much as possible first. Bamboo is still an unbeatable material for xiao for many reasons.
Thanks Florin! I’m using a non-traditional modified xiao flute here. It is made by the company Widesound (wsound.cc) and is a recent model from their ’Kui’ series, which I found surprisingly easy to play.
This is a modified alloy xiao designed and made by the Chinese company Widesound. It is in the series they call KUI: www.wsound.cc/productinfo/1857984.html
Very well played Dennis. Autumn is a magical season. Your music reflects that.
Thanks Azalea 😊

Thanks 🙏🏼 Yes, Lake Dongting has historically always been imbued with poeticism and romanticism.
