You've recreated 2001 so well it feels like you actually brought Arthur C. Clarke and Stanley Kubrick back from the dead as consultants. There are movie studios and CGI companies that don't understand science fiction as they only see it as space battles and colorful aliens. While science fiction can be that, you know that science fiction is so much more. It can look inward as well as outward. It sees the universe in infinite ways. You have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that you understand science fiction. I think I can speak for a lot of people when I say - thank you for all your hard work. And as I said to you before ... please, please, for the love of god give us more.

I was born in 1972. The same year the last man landed on the moon. 2001: A Space Odyssey was the first Sci-Fi movie I ever saw when I was 6 years old. The movie freaked me out because I was having a hard time understanding what was happening with the astronauts aboard the USS Discovery. Then later on in my life, Star Wars, Star Trek, Buck Rogers, Battlestar Galactica, and Flash Gorden came into my life but, even so, 2001: would come back to haunt me every now and then because as I got older, I began to understand more and more what was going on in the film. Fast forward to the present day and I think I finally figured it out. I first I thought there were no aliens in the movie but, I was wrong! There were aliens in the movie. You just can't see them. To see them would be looking into the face of God himself. Nobody knows what God looks like. Nor do we know what an alien life form would look like because we have yet to see solid proof that they exist. For all we know, the aliens could be gods themselves!

Truly amazing. I would only say that linking 2010 with 2001 only diminishes 2001. I love 2010, both the books and the film, but it basically ignores the Star Child and what it means for human evolution. Clarke once said that he intended 2010 to be merely one possible sequel to 2001. The same would follow for the remaining sequels.

Absolutely - on the technical end, all the shots are rendered right out of Octane in camera, using Octane for C4D, Max, Blender, Modo and standalone, with some post work done for color grading and lens effects added over the rendered frames. Cloud rendering was done on Render Network.

Really nice work. I'm curious how you decided on the dimensions of the monoliths. It looks like the earth one is about 1:2.9 and the zoo/hotel one is 2.5. The book says 1:2.25 (4:9) but Kubrick's film seems to tie it to the ratio of the movie screen, which can range from 1:2.2 to 1:2.35. Yours appear to be taller/thinner (especially the prehistoric earth one) but since your video uses a 2.4 aspect ratio, that's pretty close to the zoo/hotel one.

There are three monoliths in the film: The first was on earth at the Dawn of Man (sparked intellect), the second was buried under the Tycho crater on the moon (radioed that the apes had evolved and developed space travel), and the third was in orbit around Jupiter (a stargate that forwarded the radio signal and sent Dave Bowman to the aliens).
