ah who cares the episodes are fling mon fire man make it even more interesting lol u guys need a pet i kinna liked the whole in the house view though youtube really knows how to ruin stuff f u youtube producers
You guys seemed a bit confused when it came up between Thorfinn and the slave girl. "Vinland" isn't Iceland or some old word for Finland, it's what the vikings called North America on the other side of the Atlantic. Leif Erikson (the older dude explorer and storyteller in Thorfinn's village) was the first actual European to make it there and back, and it's his stories about the warm and fertile climate and beautiful, unclaimed land that Thorfinn is echoing because it's such a contrast to the harsh world the vikings live in.
You know that carrying longships over land was done all the time historically especially by Vikings. While these ships might seem too heavy to carry if you are carrying it with 40+ men it’s obviously a lot easier and these longships were much lighter, faster and more versatile than comparable ships of the time it’s what made Vikings so terrifying, they could come in with their fast af ships, raid villages and towns and get back on their ships and flee before any real army or military force was able to mobilize and catch them.
YaBoyRoshi Lol yea it’s cool as hell but even to this day it’s part of lots of marines’ training across the world, though they only have to lift and carry rafts which are way lighter than longships but still the core idea is the same.
@@YaBoyRoshi The idea was that viking ships were made light so that they would have a smaller portion of the ship underwater, essentially making the ships almost glide on the surface rather than pushing through it. That in turn made it possible for them to could go up river, since the bottom of the ship wouldn't hit the riverbed, and be carried on land. To put it simply, the typical ship worked kinda like a yacht, while viking ships were essentially big rafts/speeding boats. It'd be quite difficult for 40 people to carry a big yacht but pretty sure they would be able to carry a big speeding boat.
What's funny tho is that vikings actually did that shit: their longships were designed to be low weight so they could carry them through the battlefield
Lol no it’s not , it’s not even close to accurate .. the real Thorfinn wasn’t anything like the anime thorfinn ... it’s about as accurate as the Vikings tv show
@@hecantguardme15 Tat would be because there really isn´t a lot of informaiton about the actual Thorfinn Karlsefne. Vinland Saga is based on Grönlänningesagan and the tales of Erik The Red. Together they make up Vinlandsagan. The thing is that they don´t really provide much information about Throfinn as a person, we know he was a settler from Iceland and he was married to Gudrid and they settled on Newfoundland for a time. To that extent the manga/anime is accurate. BUt because there is basicly no information about Throfin as a person Makoto Yukimura had a lot of freedom to craft his protagonist.
I don't know if you realised but that frog guy is called Jabbathe and he's reference to Jabba the Hut from Star Wars. lol Also, dragon heads on viking ships actually did scare people and that's what it was used for. Same for them carrying the ships, it happened all throughout history!
the voice actor for Thorfinn is Yuuto Uemura, he hasn't voiced many characters but the only ones I found worth noting is Atsushi from Bungo Stray Dogs and Tamaki (aka SunEater) from My Hero Academia
6:05 Swearing on the name of Tyr has more depth than you might think because in addition to war I believe he was also the god of challenges and duels. In some stories him losing a hand to Fenrir was because it dared him not to and Tyr couldn't or wouldn't reject a challenge
to clear it up for you before you guys move forward, the wars that are happening between england and denmark didn't happen out of nowhere, they were actually provoked and instigated by englad when they attacked the danish settlements when they were bathing (in the first few episodes) so over the years king sweyn of denmark has been focusing his attacks on england to a) teach them a lesson i guess and b) to get the land by force since england attacked the danish settlers unprovoked.
Well, pretty much every norse God is god of war and something else Odin = War and Wisdom, Freya = War, love and magic, Thor = War and thunder, etc. There's exceptions of course but Tyr isn't one of them. Tyr is a God of war, sure, but also God of justice and honor. According to mythology, during a plot to try and bind Fenrir the wolf was suspicious so he said to Tyr that if it was a trap he'd eat his right hand. Tyr accepted. Obviously it was a trap and it worked. Tyr could've walked away since Fenrir couldn't move but instead he approached and extended his hand for the beast to bite off. That's just one story about Tyr but gives you an idea.
I literally watched the last 5 to catch up it was soooooo good had to read the manga and this show is a rollercoaster can't wait for it all to be animated
Theres an intro glitch I already know *sigh* its whatever tho cause this was some HEAT!!!

Not only that, they were some of the only ships that could go up-river at the time.

@@ivanabluyen8385 the manga starts with this scene and then we flashback to the first episode.

I prefer the way the manga starts, myself. I like that I've been able to see it both ways, but I think it's better to start with the manga 👍
In the last episode Thorfinn was 12. He's 16 now, which means he's been in Askeladd's band for 10 years
