I hope you've all managed to have a good weekend despite the heartbreak that's happening in the world right now. It's okay to be upset and maybe not as productive during these devastating times. Sending light and love to all of our Ukrainian friends and also those in Russia who don't want war❤️
I filmed this video just a few short days after returning from Brazil (Feb 18th-20th). From nights out with friends, to browsing the maze of books that is POWELLS, to exploring Portland and reading "Spinning Silver-- this one's filled with lots of uplifting, cozy moments and I hope it feels like a hug to watch.

Hahaha YES, I’m so glad you thought it was funny!! When I premiered the video, everyone was really concerned for the bird more than they thought it was funny. In hindsight, I wish I’d put “relatable” on the scene after the bird hit the window. Also, the bird was totally fine!!

My daughter and her boyfriend went to Portland, they live in San Francisco, for Valentine's Day weekend. I had given them a Powell's gift card prior thanks to watching your videos! They each got a book and enjoyed a coffee, the best on their trip! They are planning another trip!

when i was little my family took a trip to Washington to see friends. I was really young but i still remember that trip so well. i remember the mountains as we flew in and the beautiful trees and the amazing old estate/ garden we went and toured. we’re no longer friends with them but watching your videos remind me of running around in that garden and my little blue coat with buttons that i wore the whole trip. it’s a sweet nostalgic feeling just before everything kind of fell apart.

I'm sure you already know, but just in the remote possibility that you don't -- right around the corner from Blick (just go around the building to the south and hang a right, and it's right there)...is Oblation. And Oblation is freaking amazing. In warm/sunny weather, there's a public typing station outside where you can sit and type on a vintage manual typewriter. They sell some inside that they've found and refurbished, along with the most INCREDIBLE stationery supplies. They do letterpress in-house, so there's a lot of that, along with a whole slew of pretty little things. I get great ribbons by the yard and bookbinding thread there, and they've got a bunch of fountain pens and inks that are super tempting, too. It's one of my favorite places in Portland and I go there every time I'm on that side of the bridge. I think you'd love it if you haven't already been. :)

Landon's drone skills are, as always, on point, and I have to agree about the London banker lol, but it was a good look. Every time I see Powell's, it makes me miss Chamberlins, a bookstore in Florida my mom and I used to frequent before we moved to Arkansas. I'm glad you liked Spinning Silver, I felt much the same about the switching POV's, and listening to the audiobook (which was amazing), only made it that much more confusing when female characters had similar voices.
This was a reminder to meet up with friends more often and to take time for myself. Thanks Mo!✨🤍 so happy to have you back!

I have a black rescue greyhound called Madge (her full name when she raced at Poole in Dorset, England, is Devils Magic) so she is my angel. It is just her and me living alone, in a beautiful part of Devon, England. We love out walks in nature, and it is so beautiful at the moment, as is now October, and Autumn, with such fantastic colours all around us - gold, and rust and green. Oh! I agree about shifting perspectives. I adored Erin Morgenstern’s “Night Circus” by the end, but struggled to get into it; I’m now in the same spot with her “Starless Sea” - I’d be tempted to give up but I remember feeling this way with TNC, and I’m so glad I stuck with it. That said, I’m also reading several books (7?) and seem to be picking up other things, so far (to be fair, I’m also half-avoiding Eggers’ “A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius” and Kristin Hannah’s “Great Alone”…)
