Many Maiden fans claimed this album one of their worst... we're lucky because if bad albums are like this one, i can't imagine how good could be the best ones!
It's not bad, it's different! To me me that's a good thing and all iron maiden records are different. They each have their own thing that makes them special and that's what i find so great about them!

Bruce Dickinson really out did himself on that one by raphsodically calling out the horrors and injustices perpretated by mankind during the war. This song is particularly breathtaking because these struggles define us as poeple and are branded in our history forever. A great, aptly named song with awsome instrumantal that fit in perfectly as usual. IRON MAIDON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Skendrović Nikola He's ridiculously dead wrong about this song. It's clearly about WW1 and a priest who manipulated some boys into going to war. Similar in theme to "All quiet on western front". "Yellow gas" refers to mustard gas and "all dressed in black" refers to Germans having black uniforms.

Iron Maiden songs are exactly as long as they need to be.....the band never rushes into a song...every one plays out like a story....if 8 minutes is a problem for you.....you need to up your dose of ridilin stop watchin the squirrels out the window

I do seem to remember one of the members of Maiden saying in an interview that it was about one person in particular, but he wouldn't say who. That being said, it's probably my favorite song from A Matter of Life and Death.

I love this song.... Yes, somebody can say the music is a bit strange or scared, but in my opinion is perfect for this type of music
