AMOLAD is such a great album!
is a wine Album. Nobody catched it the first year, but when you give it some time, it is perfection.

I have been a Maiden fan for 20 years and that is already about two thirds of my life.
Never liked AMOLAD at all before because I felt there are many songs that are waaaay to similar that I find myself off the hook.
Until I "really listened" to Side B of the album and found this gem, Lord of Light, FTGGoG, Out of the Shadows, Reincarnation. For me this is probably the best Side B of any metal album.

Just imagine of the mind of Steve Harris because during this Pandemic with his band's plans for touring is hold on right now. Steve has written new songs for their next album during this Pandemic.
One of the Maidens hidden gems. Before you start fightig with other people over which guy in charge is better, you should listen and understand this. All those people at power, "they benefit from death and pain and despair".

Two very underrated songs
First time reading the lyrics in details, i'm re-amazed by the song.
Another gem from Iron Maiden, and their longest song to date, is "Empire Of The Clouds" which marks the debut on the piano of Lead Vocalist Bruce Dickinson, who wrote it single-handedly.
It is another departure from their usual sound, which has never featured the piano before.
There is a lyric video online, although some of the details added by the creater of the video during the instrumental are inaccurate, which rather mars it for me, but it is a truly great song.
Iron Maiden does deep lyrics a lot - I wonder how many have passed History or English Literature exams by nowing them?
I know a few who credit Iron Maiden with getting them through their exams at various levels with their lyrics.

A Janick Gers song (the guy who jumps around on stage), with lyrics from bassist Steve Harris. The final song on Maiden's most impressive album, Matter of Life and Death, which they played start to finish in concert in 2006. The show was incredible, maybe them at their live best. Unfortunately, they never professionally shot it.
They did. But didn't release it yet.
This is why I LOVE you guys. You're not afraid to do a "deep dive" into a band's catalog. This is my favorite track off of A Matter of Life and Death. Although I've never heard the boys state it, this was a direct shot at the Bush administration's war in Iraq which many didn't want.
Great album, not a bad song on it. Longest Day and Benjamin Breeg also superb

Iron maiden are the best history teachers you will ever get. Most of if not all of the songs are about real history.
Just think, this is a song that 99% of people would not pull out from Maidens back catalogue.
I’m late to the party, by a year lol but I just found you guys( new subscriber)And I’ve been sorting through some of your stuff and first of all I just wanna say I really like your reactions. There are some that I come across where I feel them , to be honest , phony. And I love your honesty and the fact that you are in a band yourselves, you understand musicianship and open yourself up to hearing new and interesting stuff out there, even if it is 40+dang years old.
Having said that all, Iron maiden is one of the best bands out there and still making music today. I saw them for the first time back in The spring of 1985 on their Powerslave tour. It was a small venue, And it was freaking fantastic. I then was not able to see them again until the summer of 2019 in Las Vegas at the MGM. This time I brought my daughters with me who were 20 and 24 at the time, of course they’ve been raised on Iron Maiden , heavy rock, classic rock, metal etc. Really all kinds of music because I have an eclectic taste myself. But anyway to make a long story short, they still sounded effing great and ridiculously at my age, behaving like a 20something- and actually probably acting worse than my kids lol I was a crazy nut because I love them♥️and frankly didn’t care 😊
Too much information I’m sure, but keep exploring kids- I’m enjoying it.

The first 7 songs on this album are super solid, really good. And then next comes arguably one better than the 7 before -- For The Greater Good of God. And then comes arguably the best song on the album -- Lord of Light. And then comes the closer, this wonderful track. This is Maiden's masterpiece album among their 16 -- A Matter of Life and Death.

I've been torn apart on Maiden's last few albums. Like the metal scene as a whole, they have not stood still and developed further. But they went a very special way. I always say: They're doing metal for old men now - but they're old men too. What they do is still authentic.

individually they are amongst the best on the planet at what they do. they are never given there individual brilliance and recogniton at there chosen instrument. i have seen them 32 times to date in the uk and for me the best live band on the planet.
Another band that never gets recognition is W.A.S.P just have a listen and react to either The Idol or Golgotha they are absolutely superb
