  • Video made of my live stream from Kamennogorsk (Finnish: Antrea), the town in the northwest of Leningrad region, almost on the border of the Republic of Karelia of Russia. From 1917 to 1939, Kamennogorsk, back in those days callee Antrea used to be a part of independent Finland.
Kamennogorsk is literally means the Stone Mountain Town because literally surrounded with rocks used for an excavation of the grey granite.

I'm trying to learn the Russian alphabet at the moment. It's nice to recognise a few letters on those posters and the sounds they make. I have less Russian alphabet knowledge than your average Russian 2 year old, but it's a start.

Good on you! My husband loves to do the same thing with these videos, reading signs and posters. Do you watch any Rus lessons on UA-cam? I'm on the 2nd year of a daily Rus Language Course and the 2nd year of two other Courses "10,000 Words in Frequency Order" and "Learn 5,000 Phrases in a Year."
All with the same teacher Nastya. I watch numerous other Rus language channels too. You can learn a lot! Of course, you don't have to get into the grammar in order to read signs and posters - just learn the alphabet and some easy words!
You will have fun with it!
      Best of luck! 🍀🐝🌱

Kiitos Sergei! Olin Kamennogorskissa viime kesänä 2023 ja tapasin mieheni Vihreällä Kirkolla. Hän tuli Viipurista ja minä Helsingistä.🥰I was in town last summer! I came from Helsinki by car and met my husband at the green church. We were heading to Wyborg after that for weekend. Such a romantic memory! The place is very beautiful in summer!

in amsterdam we have many little flats like that, i use to live in one. Only here, the flats are close to eachother. You can almost see what the neighbours are watching on TV or have for dinner. You can hear all the neighbours when they are fighting even.... there you still feel you have some privacy and space.

It is very similar to the new towns and the outskirts of cities that were built, in the sixties, now being replaced. Thanks for tour, had a look on a map to find the town. Aberdeen is our granite town, the old town centre was built using that stone.

@@donnamartz6361 There are few Aberdeens, but the original one is in Scotland, the harbour in Hong Kong has the same name. They were fishing boat harbours for landing catches, although now the original is more associated with North sea oil. The surrounding area (Aberdeenshire) has quality black cattle. The granite contains a bit of radioactivity so the background level is slightly elevated with the associated radon gas.

@@lilyrose4191 Yes I quite like his Blogs, I saw the concert at Christmas with him pity about the sound quality. I have an interest in seeing Russia, I went to St Petersburg, which is probably the most beautiful on earth and thought I will return for more....but very few speak English so I think it's a must to learn some language. I try to avoid the Macho blogs, so I watch Ely from Russia who visits out of the way places, a nice balanced few of history and culture, lots of regions and also promotes language. 🌞@@bobgoodall1603 Ha! Yes, we saw that Eli was in Oz last year, getting freckles ☀ We subscribe to Eli as well.
The quality of her videos is exceptional. 🙂 We think St Petersburg is the most beautiful city ever too 🥰 Rick says it would be interesting study there.
We enjoyed the Christmas concert ... one of the most wow factor vids on this channel is the 1 hour 21 min Live Coverage of the anniversary day of the end of The Siege of Leningrad.
The video title is: " Fireworks for the 80th Anniversary of the End of the Siege of Leningrad." ( One month ago).🎆
You have probably seen it, but I'll mention it in case some new subscribers to this channel don't know of it. (I see Sergey has thousands of new subs this month 🎉).
We've watched it 3 times, but I'm yet to comment, and I will - as it is awesome. The fireworks are lovely, but the highlight of the vid is between @32:40 to @50:20 - the projections onto the buildings are epic! The best we have ever seen. "Gosh!"
We watched the coverage from "Made in Rusland" channel and she did a good job, but Sergey's video is superior and very moving. The music and the narration 🥺so tragically beautiful and inspirational.
As Sergey walks away with the crowd after the film projections and also the crowd after the fireworks, there's a feeling I can't describe.
I hope lots of people will view it.
Blessings to you Bob - we hope your journeys in Rus will continue in future 🍀🌱💚

I like this place. It reminds me of New Hampshire.
We are the Granite State. We have forests, pines, lakes, and many stone walls of granite, and old mountains of granite. And snowy winters.
The difference is that we owned private homes and family farms . Now the soviet style of building large apartment buildings is beginning, and restrictions on family farms have shut down most of them and probably soon we will be living in apartment buildings.

This is so beautiful! It's flat and spacious and clean looking. My home in the United States used to be mostly clean. But now we are crowded by homeless illegal migrants and drug addicts.
How is the economy of the working class people there? Do middle class families buy their homes? Your grocery stores are well stocked. But, are the products affordable? Here, a loaf of bread costs 5 times more than it did 30 years ago. Egg prices have tripled in the last 3 years. Beef prices are at least doubled in 3 years, and it is crappy imported beef from God knows where. Thank you for producing these enlightening videos. Maybe you could start including the town's location on a map for us non-Russian viewers? Love from Washington state, USA. ❤️

Hi Donna! Wages are lower in Rus, but the cost of living is very affordable in comparison with my country (Australia). The increases in food prices in Australia is similar to those you have mentioned in the USA. Also the utilities are very expensive here, compared to Rus and our taxes are outrageous! We have some of the highest taxes in the world - and it's not worth it as the money is wasted for the most part.
A guy who moved to Rus a few years ago from the UK told us that for the first time in his life he was able to not only afford his living costs - but to get ahead! He even purchased a house and has a local partner and a child these days.
His house was in St. Petersburg (has sold it recently) so he is doing well. He couldn't imagine being able to purchase even a little apartment in London.
Housing prices in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra are VERY expensive.
      Rus is affordable by comparison.
Best wishes to you Donna! 🍀💐🦋
