GM and all brands need to install the NACS connector on ALL 2025 model years as this is the North America Charging Standard. Who wants to buy a new vehicle with an outdated connector.😊 The vehicle does look sweet.
That’s what I’m talking about. GM seems to be the only American car manufacturer coming out with electric vehicles that are similar. If not better than their gas powered equivalent vehicles this is what electric vehicles should have. We need to see more of this granted I would like to see it more affordable, but it’s a beautiful thing to see. Great video. Keep up the great work. Have a good one and I’ll catch you guys on the next one.
I suspect they are trying to follow Tesla's example of introducing exclusive vehicles at a higher price when there is initial demand then drop the price as sales slow allowing more customers to get one. I bet all the celebrities will be wanting this next, especially the ones who didn't see themselves in a Cybertruck.
First one Baby! That nigt vision is incredible. BMW and some others have the option available and you can add it for around $1500 to any vehicle. Having it integrated is awesome! Beautiful Cadillac as usual. I wouldnt spend $130k, but Great review.
What a great review! Well done. I never thought I would see anything that would impress me more than my Model X, but Cadillac has done a great job of staking its claim to the luxury EV market.
I love this vehicle way more (I know not proper English, but I don't care lol) than the ICE Escalade. Inside and out this vehicle is amazing. If money is no object, I would buy this yesterday! The one important thing missing from this is Apple CarPlay.
Thanks Kim! This SUV has me questioning which car I will get next too! I saw one on the road for the first time, it looks so 🔥🔥!! I couldn’t stop looking at it!! 🤩
The battery alone is near 2,800# of that! And loaded ice escalades weigh over 7,000# with options&fluids but no passengers SMDH. So its heavy but so are huge loaded slow inefficient runs on explosions ice.
Quite the behemoth EV! I suppose that this model is to appeal to GM customers who prefer a more traditional looking large, luxurious EV rather than a bulky, brawny Hummer EV. Personally, I'd prefer a KIA EV9 or a Hyundai Ioniq 9 for a 3-row EV instead.
If GM advertises this vehicle at the Super Bowl, they will pay millions of dollars for an ad that isn't nearly as comprehensive as your 21 minute review. Also, I always skip over ads but I did watch your review of the ELECQ. Very good job on both.
The Escalade E Car appears to be the ultimate in an E Car experience. Being a disabled 62 year old senior, I'll never be able to own one in my lifetime, but I'm sure owners will enjoy this vehicle.
GM is hitting it out of the park, just bought a Equinox EV LT which has the same Ultium battery as a Hummer, IQ, Lyriq, greatest deal on the planet with Comfort and Safety package option at $32,200 out the door Riptide Blue, fantastic appearance, quality, ride, 17.7” screen with 11” drivers instrument screen and a whooping 319 mile range, 19” Michelin tires. Wow.
Start stacking the options on, and they can get north of 170k quickly. Especially the luxury models that have the power opening and closing doors and then have the executive 2nd row seating.
I really like Tesla’s “less is more” approach, this Cadillac feels like an blackberry phone with all the bells and whistles, while Tesla is like the iPhone
Supercruise can not be compared to supervised self driving. You can't take your hands off the steering wheel for more than 30 seconds. Also, it can't navigate from point a to point b. It legit is just a modified version of adaptive cruise control with a better version of lane keep assist that can change lanes when needed. I will give it credit though, it is better than 99% of BMW drivers as it actually uses the turn signal when changing lanes.
I like the Cadillac because of the bells and whistles. I dont want to pay luxury prices for a cabin that looks plain Jane and minimal. I've noticed when you have driven the Lyriq, you liked it but hated the charging. Since this can use a Supercharger and it's huge with a lot of range, would you buy this instead of your X?
I can see a few people that can afford and want these, but by far the majority can’t. That’s why I don’t understand why GM is coming out with these large EV’s before the smaller and more affordable ones. I have been waiting for the Optiq for almost a year. I sure hope it comes out before the tax credit ends. Kim I’ll be looking for you to do a review of it soon, I hope.
That was one of my gripes with FSD. It pulls out to the left lane and hogs it. No care for other cars trying to pass. Caddy makes nice cars 9000Lbs is a tank on wheels but for no compromise luxury and range that's what it takes today.
I’m sorry, but Tesla really needs to step up their game because so far lucid and general motors have caught up…. The only thing lacking from this is not having NACs
Basically a mini-bus, yeah. It is ESV size, that's professional driver + 6 passengers + baggage for 6 passengers. A lot of these are going to go into Black SUV service.
Great job in this video, Kim. You're obviously a natural! I'll admit the styling on this behemoth is very nice but like my input on your Mercedes EV awhile back, this Caddy EV is, IMO, way over engineered and tricked out. Just a lot of things to break and go bad and even though it's a Cadillac it's still a GM product and I don't even consider GM products. And at $130k and up, they will most likely only sell a few thousand of these a year. 2025 Model X for me!
I worry about the complexity of these GM electric vehicles. I have been a General Motors fan my entire life and have only owned two non-General Motors vehicles. As I’ve seen their complexity increase over the last 30 years failures are much more common. Long-term I think these will be too expensive to keep on the road unless you’re extremely wealthy. I currently drive a 2021 GMC AT4, and a Tesla model Y. I love them both, but I use the model Y for everything that doesn’t require the pick up. This scenario works great for me.
Just looks silly to me. It looks like a giant left his car behind and a little climbed into it. At the waste of energy to drag all that weight around, i wouldn't be interested. And all the redundancy of controls just makes it more confusing to a new user. I suppose if i wanted to pull a trailer, it would be something to consider.
Luxury definitely escalade.. but can it do FSD .. I love that my Model Y drives itself :). I guess the escalade works if I'm driven around by a someone else haha
> if I'm driven around by a someone else Pretty much this. This IQ should be a real livery workhorse, and FSD is not applicable for that. Nobody else yet really has proper SUV BEV for Black Car service. The S, X, and Y are all really just largish sedans. For personal use the IQ does have Super Cruise. That's not fully comparable to FSD, but at least the basic functionality that's equivalent to Autopilot is there for doing divided highway trips.
Great EV but sadly it will not do well bc people will think it’s inferior to tesla ecosystem. Only if GM and all other companies knows how to hire top end engineers to match Teslas devs.
It seems GM strategy is to make extremely compelling EVs even if there is not a chance in hell of ever making a profit. Even if it was $160K I just can't see how they will ever make a profit.
So the funny thing is....the Cadillac EVs, Escalade IQ, and the Lyriq, are setup for it. They have an NFC reader. They just aren't equipped with the module yet to do anything with it. Allegedly, in the future, when said module is available, a customer satisfaction program will be issued so they can get it installed for free. If you look at a lyriqs door frame, you'll see a square printed on it where you can hold your phone up to unlock the door.
The very premise of EV Ownership was ECONOMIC based. You purchase an EV to get away from high Gas prices. Now its slowly becoming more expensive to own an EV than a combustible car. But we get so wide eyed with how 'beautiful' and 'luxurious ' these EV's are becoming.... we totally get drawn away from the PRICE of it. While I am glad to finally see gas hogs 3 row suvs get replaced by electric models, we do NOT need them! We need small, efficient vehicles that don't take so much from the planet to make, this weighs as much as a small bus! Also, it's been like 20 years that customers have been begging automakers to STOP using piano gloss plastic! It's like GM just ignores their customers! It looks cheap and outdated, also, no Apple Carplay is a big fail! Also, no NACs plug! WTF GM? You suck.
driving a rolls Royce and €130.000 Escalade, but whining about a €130 gas fill up. Funny how rich and poor people feel the same about spending gas money 😂 GM is surely the best in self driving. 😂 Nice car tho, if I could afford one, i still could not drive it, I don’t have the license to drive this heavy truck

I agree...but this vehicle was probably close to done with development before NACS became a standard. Nothing Cadillac can do about that one.
I believe it also depends on the availability of the connector from tesla, I may be wrong. Production of the port needs to scale up.
Yes it has. Fronk those that don’t are ice cars converted to electric! Nice
@PDLM1221 Yes, it has! ?
It has a CCS1 connector and nema 5-15 120 volt 15 amp plugs. Are you saying something different 🤔

They did this back in 2001 with a Raytheon unit in the Cadillac and supposedly it worked "too well" and was quickly removed.
Why did GM put nema 5-15 plugs instead of nema 5-20, 120 volt 20 amps plugs so any 120 volt appliance could be used 🤔
POOR Tesla ... competitors are moving FAST.
Did the video speed up for those power down and up seats?🤔 Because that was pretty fast!
I don’t know if a 225 in length car will fit in my garage. I’d have to pull it up to within 18 inches of the back wall.
