Fantastic video! Love ur channel! I just rescued 2 bantams ❤️ How often do u have to change there dipars? Also since they r inside how do u feed them without a huge mess?
Lately, we're doing 12 hours with diaper and then 12 hours diaper free. In general, it depends how much poop they make, how bad it smells, and how big the diaper is. When they're wearing diapers full-time, I'll do it 1-2 per day. OMG, they are soo messy when they eat. I nought a $10 boot tray from Target to put under the food bowl so most of the flying pellets end up on the tray. I also have a hand vacuum for the ones that they launch across the room lol

You must have put a lot of thought into the channel before you created it! I mean you just made and started uploading, and everything looks planes out and uniform! It looks just like your Instagram!😃🙌🏼 I’ve been on UA-cam for 6 years and my channel still doesn’t look this well thought out😂
I have raised chickens and other poultry for years and every time one gets injured or sick or I need to bring it inside for one reason or another it always occurs to me that if not for the feces issue they would make excellent house pets. I knew that diapers for chickens were a thing but I didn't realize they were this advanced in their construction. In my experience chickens poop very frequently. How often do you need to change their diaper daily? And do you let the chicken sleep with it on?
I change it at least once per day. Some I let sleep with if it doesn't seem to bother them but, I have one chicken that sleeps diaper free cause she's more comfortable
@@renthehousehen thanks for the reply. Honestly that shocks me. I would have expected three or four diaper changes a day. The more I watch your channel the more I think that I should give this a try. I currently have a 7-year-old chicken named Jane who I believe is getting towards the end of her life. She's pretty sick right now. I have brought her indoors a few times recently just to make sure that she got a good meal away from the others. I tend to have better success doing that than isolating sick chickens by themselves the way most other poultry owners recommend. It usually turns into a mess within about 5 minutes lol but maybe the experience will be better with one of these diapers.
@@Hellothere149able if the poo is watery, it will need to be changed more frequently than if solid. Bringing her inside would be a great bonding opportunity for you as she's nearing end of life. Even if diapers don't work, I use a waterproof blanket and puppy pads to manage one of my hens poo. I place them in all the places she likes to hang out!
I've had the hardest time finding diapers that work and stay on my hens...what is the brand of diaper you're using in this video? How do I get them? Thank you!
The way i would change my chicken’s diaper is by kneeling on the floor and sort of hugging him by wrapping my arm in front of his chest so he doesn’t run away.
@renthehousehen I have a vision impaired chicken and have considered bringing her inside. They only issue is the dogs, she is uncomfortable around them. I have also questioned , and will inquire about our waste water cleaning, can our systems handle chicken poop? I know that cat poop is an absolute NO because of parasites ( toxoplasmosis) but I would like to know if there is anything in chicken waste that would tax our water recycling and filtration system, if you know about this please comment. Thank you.
I don't have a chicken (my friend does and I love her!) but I am a longtime rat person and my experience with animal shelters has been the same -- they don't want to let me adopt without proof of a large cage but I don't cage my rats, they are house rats! I have still managed to adopt from them tho. I have to explain my case to different people and decided to show them pictures of my house as that is their "cage" afterall! Surely if you directed the shelter to your channel, someone with some common sense would approve you?
Do you ever add a tissue inside the lined diaper to aid poo removal? Does Ren ever get poo stuck on her rear feathers? How many diapers do you use in a day? Another wonderful video I will revisit when I get some tiny chicken diapers for the bantams!!
Yay! You and the bantams are going to become best friends. I don't use tissue because I don't want to touch it on the way out but, I know others do this to absorb moisture! Ren rarely gets poop stuck in her butt feathers. My friend has a silkie that gets really bad poop clumps stuck in her butt feathers. When that happens, I put them in a shallow bath and rub the clumps with my hands 🤮
i’m in the middle of trying to convince my parents to let me take a chimken(a specific one i think will be better indoors) indoors!! new subscriber 🥰
You're channel is a gem, thank you for all of your help. 🥰
you're welcome!
Never knew ... makes total sense lol
I got between the knees down now I just need to work on the chest cradle. I'll keep at it!
Awesome information ❤❤❤
Very helpful. I am struggling with the diaper process right now. Chickens are about ten weeks old.
I recommend letting them finish growing cause they grow so quickly and diapers are EXPENSIVE! LOL Mine started wearing them at like 4-5 months
Merry Christmas and New year 🎁☃️
Super
Thank you for all your videos! They are all really helpful 🥹
I have a question: how many diapers a day do your chickens use?
Instead of the baby or toddler in the sims, im thinking about Ren crying that she needs a diaper change
Thank you for this video.
you're welcome!

thank you
I have the same diaper for my porcelain D'uccle. Good tips. I dumped the poop in the toilet and then take a baby wipe and wipe it clean.

Check the review in the description. She uses several. Their links will be in the description of that video
That second way, my girl would be flapping and probably escape. I like the one between the knees.
That's my preferred method too!
What do you do with eggs and the diapers? How do you keep the eggs clean?
I want a pet chicken now.

Cool 🧡🧡🧡. Hey you might try pet Black chicken from indonesia,,, thats sacred chicken that can bring luck and protection. 🖤

Would it not be easier to teach the chicken to use some kind of Toilett like a litter box for cats?
That's a good question! It's possible in rare cases but since they poop like every 15-20 minutes, it's not that easy
@@renthehousehen every 15-20 minutes? Thats crazy... I guess i would not keep it inside if that is the case...

Chickens are not as smart as cats or dogs
@@Cloudy.Flinge What do you mean by "smart"? There are different facets of intelligence

🐓💕👏👏👏👏
How many times do change per day? Is it okay to change after 8 or 9 hours?
It depends how much poop, how heavy it becomes, and how smelly. Monitor to see if they're uncomfortable.
Do these diapers work for Sultans and Americanas?
Chicken diapers can be used on most chickens. You just have to find the right size!
Can they still lay eggs with the diaper on
YES, AND AFTER IT COMES OUT THEY LOOK FOR IT EVERYWHERE :) JUST A BIT DISGUSTING GRABBING IT OUT OF POOP
How often do you have change the diaper?
At least 1-2 per day and more if it's full, liquidy, heavy, or stinky.
