Yeah I had already found it disturbing when he said that. You can also see by the way he chases it around he doesn't see it as a friend or equal, but just as the phantom reminder of a childhood lost.

He is just being Zen about it. The rooster probably had some great past lives, which is why it’s life as an ordinary rooster who is caged for life until he gets killed to be eaten, became an extraordinary one with so much fun and frolic. But all good things must come to an end. Every life, no matter how grandly lived, must end. It it would be a happy ending too, filling the stomach of the person who gave you enjoyment of life.. instead of some strangers stomach.

I've raised a group of roosters in my house and now they don't stop following me
I had a pet chicken she would come up to the house every day wanting in to lay her egg. She would pace back and forth until you let her in. White House On The Hill you have a great UA-cam channel that I love watching.

Roosters are animals that are meant to be in places with wide open spaces to run like the countryside and they definitely need some companions. That rooster was probably frustrated due to the lack of space that he had. It was almost like living in a prison.
@@spino-tinodon1146 I agree but you went way too far. Think about the money you would spend for those open lands and think about the roosters. If they are free it is possible for them to fight. Private lands for the roosters themselves is a solution but it costs way too much! If you spend way too much, you dont have money to feed your animals and family.

The smiles just disappeared with the Halal way of butchering rather than one quick cut . In Halal a small cut is made on the the neck & the animal/ bird left to bleed to their death. The butcher makes a cut leaves the Rooster in the drum & the drum shakes-- thats the last minutes of suffering. Animals birds many a times remain alive for over 20 minutest tho blood loss makes them too weak too move.
Every chicken is as alive and sentient as this chicken. If his death bothers you, think about all the other ones who don't have a movie about them.

How you can eat something you’ve lived with for 6 months, cared for, cuddle with, is brutally cold. Watching the closing scene of the rooster dying was sad and surprising. His logic was “someone else will eat him” but with some effort, you may have been able to find a farmer who was willing to keep him as a farm rooster. Imagine swallowing the meat of your pet, terrible!
I can relate.
I've actually done this with my rooster. I raised him for almost a year and then had someone painlessly slit his neck open and after some more preparing I ate him. He did taste good though. The other chickens (females) were left to lay eggs for us to have omelettes for us almost every morning

Heartless. I have 4 roosters. Love them all, even the mean one. I eat chicken but would never eat my pets.
My family had a pet chicken and it was our choice to get one. We lived in a house with a garden so he had more space. We loved him to distraction but the neighbors took him and ate him. We mourned like a family member had died. I couldn't eat chicken for ten years after that.

My chicks grew up and lived for 3.5 years. I had a good experience with them and never thought of killing them and eat (more than a pet they were more like my siblings) . They lived their life to the fullest and died peacefully.
I miss them but that's life, kabhi na kabhi to duniya chor ke jana hi hai 🙂

Chickens and roosters are awesome tick and insect control. Keeping them as pets isn't as easy as dogs or cats sadly, but the thing is thousands of years of breeding has led cats and dogs to be our best friends but not chickens. Chickens are good pets if you raise them properly

The video just ended... and I am sitting here in shock... such a beautiful bird... bought as a day-old baby to be "a toy for his cats"... I am having so much trouble dealing with this... I laughed all through the video until the shocking ending... it IS beautifully filmed... as least this amazing bird lives on in film... his destiny was to be a protective male ruling over a flock of hens... he never even got to breed... of course he was crazy! Except that he wasn't... he was beautiful and coped the best that he could with crazy humans that imprisoned him in an alien environment and then had their pet's throat cut, threw him in a garbage can, slowly bleeding to death, alone and confused and terrified... and then ate him. Chickens are amazing creatures, but they are hard-wired, omnivorous eating machines that live in flocks OUTSIDE. I have a flock OUTSIDE and I respect the fact that they are chickens and are born to be chickens, nothing more, nothing less... they are not cats, or dogs... nor are they "toys". Chickens are so fantastic that they are growing in popularity all over America... so much so, that roosters, and what to do with them, is a serious problem... I wonder how differently this story would have gone if the chick he brought home had been a hen instead? Oh, he was so gorgeous! A beautiful, cocky roo'!!! :(

There's nothing Zen or parable-like about this to me. It's an ignorant family that has a throw-away attitude toward animals, along with rampant specieism. The rooster was better than all of them and deserved better.
I have 2 chickens and 2 cat's too....and I got it the same way that he did but for 15 rs.....and they are 2 month's old and I love them with all my heart
On the start of this video I was so happy that he's raising a chicken and in the end it's so tragic...I never expected to be like this
I bought my chickens with an idea of giving them the best life that they deserve and i think they are happy and it's so fun to be around with them ❤

I bought 2 for 15 as well. One of them died after a year, the other one is currently 3 years old and I love him. Can't even imagine eating him.

These chickens are genetically modified to grow up quickly so they can be sent for slaughter within a few months because of which their organs aren't well developed. Most of them start showing some problems after 6 months or so. There was an article about it in a recent Times of India.

Halal meat is typically drained completely of blood. this was the old style of doing that so this is the way they continue to do it
Its called zabiha or zibah in which u don't cut the whole neck at once but the neck is cut not less than one third of its thickness where two blood carrying veins along the throat must be cut in order to drain the blood completely from the body so that the meet is cleansed of any bacteria or protozoa present and also for any other impurities, Halal is Muslim equivalent of Jewish Kosher .

Chickens will not eat sick chickens.. they don't eat each other.. yes they peck at the blood feathers (if they are malnourished or under stress) and continue to do so and if unchecked , the recipient of the pecks may die but they don't just go around eating other chickens
Zaid Quraishi Dude I’ve had chickens for 14 years. In several instances I have seen a half eaten hen, who was previously ill, and blood all over the other hens beaks. It happens. Are you going to say that they don’t eat their eggs next? Because they do. I walked in on it one day, opened the coop to get the eggs and they were at it, I had to take the hen away from them so they wouldn’t get a taste for their own kind like they do their eggs.

I think many people in comments are overreacting. Eventually the chicken has to die. Why make it go waste ? How different is it from cats eating their owners when they die alone with the cats and there’s no one to feed them.
I get it that you one care for it until it lives and bury it somewhere. But even from the rooster’s perspective this way he’d have made his family happy. It’s the more rational decision I’d say.

By having bought your female chickens you have paid for their young brothers to be butchered, because there is ”no use” for as many roosters as hens. Don’t act like you are innocent and have no part in such thing when it was done with your support and money. Demand and supply, unless your chickens were rescues that you didn’t pay for in which case my apologies for assuming otherwise because it’s not the majority.

I have 2 roosters at my home I love them a alot . I bought them when they were small chicken babies. They are affectionate towards me. Some times I feel like they are my best frnd to whom I can share my thoughts. Me and my rooster sit on the terrace some evening's and have great time watching the sunset and cool breeze . They become very important part in my life and also to my family members. Every member of our family would love to pet them both. Hope that they have long and happy life ❤ it's been two years since they are living in my house.
