The vertical weld is first always, so when you come around with your flat you wll just go over it ( im a Q.A) inspector onboard navy ships ...the prcedure is the same.
Can this be used to repair crcked water filter housing. Would the water passing through under high pressure break it again?Is it suitable for drinking water?
dogsbestfriends yes, make groove in crack, use plastic rods ($5.99 for 18 @ Harbor freight) to fill in groove (use the rods for pvc). If unsure, sand down and coat with 5-min 2-part epoxy.

I just bought the plastic welder at Harbor freight which uses external air supply. I paid $50 for this unit, because it uses hospital medical air which I have in my work shop instead of the internal blower model that they sell. I can regulate the flow of air and temperature up to 800F. It has been a Godsend so far. Does anyone else have this unit? I am wondering if you have having luck with it? It took me a while to understand the relationship of temperature and air flow cooperation to begin with and burned up a few plastic test parts... This is an art-form I believe and needs a lot of practice. This video shows someone that is very experienced... looks simple, huh?
+Stan Skaggs I have used one and it blows the air too fast and ends up blowing the molten plastic away from the weld spot. I use a soldering iron to tackle my small jobs
zack strickland Hi Zack, I put a valve on the air line so I could regulate the flow of air through the end. I used a simple small air cut off valve and attached to the air hose end of the welder. It is a 1/4 turn valve with a handle on it. I use it dynamically as well in some instances depending on the amount of air flow I am needing..
