The Brabham BT62 definitely deserves a standing ovation for this phenomenal lap around the Mt Panorama circuit. The car is engineered superbly and is a race car to look out for at future races. I'm impressed !
@@CrippleTron_ They ran an unrestricted Audi R8 GT3 with a lap time of 1:59.2910, so the Brabham BT62 with its problem was still faster than a GT3 car, albeit probably more expensive compare to buying a GT3 car.

Lap record is actually 1.48.88 set by jenson button in 2011 in a formula 1 car, even though its 'unofficial' it still happened so it is the fastest lap to this day.

Hey, I was there that day near Sulman Park, the first few laps were quick, then he turned up the wick! Then I realised that’s fast, faster than V8 Supercars, I then timed two laps at 1.59 on my phone. I was sitting with a bunch of older race fans, It was a great privilege to see Luke and the Brabham BT62.
incredible car, love that Brabham is back , hopefully comes to the GTLM /GT3 scene in the feature. IT would be interesting seeing the BT62's lap redone again with the engine detuned to GT3 spec, from 700hp to 500hp-550hp.
Everything about this is just perfect from the visual design, the noise, the track and the history of the brand. I'm a massive porsche fan but this it definitely on par. I can't wait to see this begin competing in race series and lemans. All the Brabham crew deserve a massive high five. Will the car be at goodwood festival on f speed again this year? Couldn't get enough of it last year.
You're spot on about the sound, I was at Mt Panorama when it was doing these demonstration laps and it makes the most incredible noise. It made the the GT3 cars that followed it on track sound puny by comparison. This thing is SERIOUS.
He made that look easy. Under 2 minutes at Mt Panorama is a very special lap time, and Youlden is like, "Meh." That's what professionals do. I have to mention the incredible sound this car makes. It's bloody glorious.
And this could be faster if not for that transmission trouble at the mountain. And did the driver said that he could be faster than this? Wonder if a 1.57 is possible.

I love this car so much, every angle, ever part and every noise its a perfect track car. I can wait to see them enter the WEC in 2021 and really hope they can win not only Le Mans but the whole championship.
I've driven that track in a rental and, chances are with a 2 lap head start I'd still lose by 10 seconds in a 3-lap race, it's a whole lot harder than it looks on TV...
We walked down the dipper, no video gives the true incline of that crazy drop... Also forest elbow... How they hit that corner is defies physics !! Drove it my 308 VH, boy was I tempted to give it some wally but I'd already got done hard outside of Tarcutta on that trip for reckless driving (190 in a 110 zone)
Fantastic lap but I'm curious as to what happened around Griffin's Bend? He seems to have backed off and his right leg was doing something? It seems like he/ the car had more to give.
Im so excited about this car. That should have been more of a 1:52:00 I wish you stayed with the cockpit view but he had a few issues and looked very relaxed so the only outcome is this thing is f'ing quick. Cant wait to see it race it going to be a heart breaker
this car seems to be planted and grippy at the rear end as the driver didnt countersteer a bit while entering the corners especially the narrow sections. The steering seemed to be direct and stable with no countersteer.
Wonder if going round clockwise would be faster. I have been around a couple of times in a street car at night, clockwise really fast and it was a heck of a ride, we past a skate border through the cutting going 60 mile an hour.
@@mista2621 Not always is it left untouched and put straight into the car, for example; Holden's V8 Commodores use directly imported engines from the US while Ford Falcons use an engine that is based on a Coyote but has locally been developed further so it isn't really the same engine anymore.

lesati for myself the use of telemetry took from the rawly talented drivers and put the skills it in the hands of the race engineer. When a driver like lauda, Hunt or Emerson went .5 or 1 second quicker per lap only he knew why , It added to the mystic of the driver. Then in the 80’s, when drivers like Prost or Senna did slower lap times than the number 2. The Number 2 drivers telemetry would be passed over to them, but it didn’t go the other way. That was the start of the politics in driving, the underhanded tactics. Don’t get me wrong time moves on and telemetry is part of racing life, and is a great Tool for teams. But the days of being the best from just talent are gone. I know most junior karting has to be telemetry free and 1 or 2 Formula series, why is this? To see who has racing talent. IMHO..
The transmission wouldn’t allow 6th gear to engage so it bumped between 5-6th causing a throttle cut out probably from traction control trying to figure out wtf was going on
No throttle output(you can see the driver kicks his leg repeatedly) due to the transmission issue mentioned above. It's incredible the car break the record even with this problem. Unbelievable!!! 😱👍🏽

@@turbojockel9795 It would hardly break the 7 minute mark, it's not that fast. Low 6:50's, anything under that is as someone else said, mission impossible. This is a young company without much experience. Even a tuned Mclaren P1, which had over 1000hp and is built by people who have infinitely more experience in building supercars couldn't do low-mid 6's.

The best angle is behind the driver with a wide angle looking forward. So you can see the track plus the driver inputs. Thats all you need for an epic video. The others are just a waste of time.
What strikes me about laps like this is that there's obviously an issue that that costs them like half a second to maybe 1.5s and then they somehow don't have the possibilities to give it another try?
He was taking it sooo easy, lifting way before the corners. So much more time to be had. I can understand, don’t want to write off a special on a demo.

I heard and saw this lap at Mt Panorama. Hearing is an experience i won’t forget. The speed is breathtaking.

Had the privilege of doing a hot lap with Luke the week after he won Bathurst at one of the Audi drive days. These guys are on another level!
