- F1 Driver Shocked by Aussie Supercar Power!
Token Aussie, Valtteri Bottas recently jumped in for a few laps behind the wheel of my mate Brad's recent acquisition (the 2016 Tekno Bathurst 1000 winner) at the Adelaide Motorsport Festival. He soon realised that these cars aren't to be messed with!
Meanwhile Craig Lowndes was loving it in Peter’s Supercheap car!

NOW he's a True Aussie, Redlining a V8 supercar many, many times. What a boss!
Yea, and on wet track to boot! Mad props to Bottas for doing this like that!
His helmet lite up with the red shift light, but he got the hang of it fairly quickly.
If he can’t find a spot in F1 next year it would be great to see him in super V8.
This bloke is like a 18-year-old driving a VN Commodore 😂 , Loves the limiter ☝️ awesome 🤣🤘
😂😂😂😂
Hahaha!! He gets overtaken twice by the Duunydore!
The progression from "how do I put into gear?" to "watch this".
It took him just over a lap to get used to the power, another lap to figure out how much traction or lack of traction he had, another lap to suss out the vehicle dynamics, but he just couldn't quite tune his ear to get used to changing gears at the same revs his F1 car idles at.🤣
In all fairness it was his first time in the car, it was raining & he didn't crash. A job well done I say. After a few more engine replacements I'm sure he would get the hang of it...
He could cover the rebuilds with spare change.
lmao such a backhanded compliment. true aussie style
@@Daniel-ld7xs I can't argue with that.
Just doesn't realise it doesn't have an f1 rev limiter
This man out here treating that thing how 99% of Aussie guys want to drive 1!! 😂❤
He wouldn’t last five laps of Bathurst driving it like that, thing would be falling apart
@@Matt_Wilson01 he's not driving at Bathurst, so what's your point?
@@Matt_Wilson01These motors can do 161 laps with no issues around Bathurst at full potential and then on to the next race. a few laps of limiter bouncing isn't going to do anything
MOST ENTERTAINING V8 supercar drive I've seen in YEARS! i think they should just do "chuck us the keys mate" test drives and have them for spectators enjoyment :)
Still, nothing beats SVG drifting his RedBull V8 Supercar that time though 👌
@@ReanuKeevesAus just look up Shane van Gisbergen drifting
@@5IMON5AY5 thanks will do!
@@5IMON5AY5 SVG drifting that supercar is one of my favorite spectacles, i'd really love to see someone the likes of Luke Fink or Beau Yates get in one and send it though!
Like to see him do that in a cup car lol would be sick af!
I've never seen a v8 supercar cop so much redline action.
He definitely wasn’t being shy about it
Twas A Bott-as Aussie a rendition of v8 supercar action as a genuine supercar driver!
Can't be in the Aussie's badass yard with the badassery the V8 supercars display on any given raceday and not respectfully give tribute to the car but also the Aussies themselves!
Cant poontang foot it, it deserves, nay, demands to see if Bottas is a capable driver.
The redline was telling me just moments before this video loaded that it loves getting smacked around a bit otherwise it seems a little too bland and the engine can't be satisfied.
And mang!
The howlin and near immediate throttle response just calls through the digital ether to the hotrodder, the petrolhead, the hoonigan, the utter madlads of the world to let us know that the unifying song of our people of perforance is being played once again!
Loud, proud, pleasing the crowd!
(I accidentally made a slogan for gangbangs there. Many apologies...😂)
F1 drivers😅😅😅 he was waiting the eletronics help to kick in
Went with " redline it until it finds traction " 😂. He was certainly trying to push the load pedal through the floor
Wet roads will do that, butbyeah he wasn't afraid of a limmi bash
On the limiter like a true commodore driver
Good to see him shed the BS politics of F1 for the day, and just have a fang and enjoy himself. Liked him as a driver since he arrived in F1 and hope one day he gets the chance to run at Bathurst, either in the 12 hour or the 1000. I think he would have a blast. But I think the 12 hour would suit him better, even though I love the 1000.
Blokes the best on the grid at keeping out of politics. Even when his team mate was lewis Hamilton he basically just stepped back and kept quiet. I feel like he’s learned from Kimi in that respect
Bogas and Kimi are the best. Boy I miss kimi.
OH MY LORD! Shout out to the team for letting Valtteri have a burn in the car! I can't imagine it was cheap to put it on the track, but it was interesting to see an F1 driver figure it out on the fly, not without struggles and a couple correcting donuts to point in the right direction. Shout out to your mate Brad! I have a spare tenner i'd be happy to chip in towards tyres. Thanks for sharing! Means a lot to motorsport fans!
Bottas is an honorary Aussie!
No need because he's a Finn. They come out the womb driving.
This is correct! More motor racing and athletics champions per capita than any other nation…in the world.🫵🤡🇫🇮
@@kallekas8551that may be so, but no one thrashes a v8 like Aussies do
@@pat4711 Discorrect…
@@kallekas8551 champ we have massive festivals to just thrash the fuck out of v8s 😂😂 no other country comes close
Apprentice mechanic forgot he wasn't meant to tell the demo driver the engine is getting a full rebuild next week.
Really interesting seeing how quick he took to it, a couple of laps to get the feel, then just giving 'er the beans
You severely underestimate how skilled professional racecar drivers, let alone F1 drivers, are. Especially Bottas who is a multiple racewinner. They can get in any car and drive the nuts of it
@@nielspeelen5748 That's simply not true at all lol. They need to find out the suspension dynamics, weight throw from CoG, level of traction, braking power & fade, acceleration/engine power.
Can they get in any car and give it a toot? Sure! Will it be anything like their "drive the nuts off it" laptime? Not a chance in hell.
Pretty sure I'm much better positioned to judge the real-world abilities of F1 drivers...
I love the amount of in-cabin footage Super Cars gives, especially things like footwork. Formula 1 could learn a lot from Super Cars about how to give viewers more feeling about what racing is like from the driver's perspective.
F1 footwork footage would be boring. The only use 2 pedals and left foot break
@@fc7424In case you didn't notice he didn't use the clutch in the Commodore.
VB was happy to get it sliding and bouncing off the rev limiter. He was also happy to do it in the wet. He knows it's not the most sophisticated race car, and bet he had a shitload of fun. He should be given an Australian passport.
Thats it . . . . I'm going to comb my mullet and head down to the Woolies car park right now with the Dunnydore + Bonus is just finnished raining . . .
So many negative Nancy comments here about having a crack and bouncing off the limiter. Good on him, it will be fine. It’s a promotional video, you reckon if he babies it the whole video and just short shifts there would be positive comments? I don’t think so.
Good on him for thrashing it. I would do exactly the same thing.
Hell yeah, loves the limiter!
His new nickname should be “Limiter Bosttas”, “Valtteri Basher” 😂 or just simply “limiter basher”
How to bounce off the limiter 101.
Legit
The windshield wiper mechanism is wild
Keeping traction under the conditions must have taken all his obvious skills. Something they learn in Finland I hear.
Great video, so much editing. 👍
Thanks 👍
If one year the Japanese GP doesn't clash with Bathurst 1000 VB will for sure enter as a co-driver or as a wild card. Imagine VB in a supercar with VB sponsorship. Marketing genius..
They’d need it to pay for all of the engines
@@HoonTV Drive it like ya stole it
Doesn't clash with Japan this year - clashes with Qatar.
If they make it not clash one year, I reckon half the grid will show up in Bathurst asking for a go 😂
He probably was happy being able to red line to without it blowing up !
That was probably one of the best driving videos I have ever seen! Epic driving, loved the foot-cam. Thanks so much for sharing.
Drive it like you stole it 👍
Amazing to see how after not evne 5 laps he got comfortable with the car and was so much more consistent part form loving the limiter abit to much coming out of the hairpins in first gear
would be fun to see a series where they get random people with abit of a racing background and have these cars on the grid race for 20 laps would make it interesting but also very expensive haha
The cars would all be cooked after that
I hope so....because that would create demand for new parts for these beasts, and lack of parts and/or people who can fix them is usually how race cars end retiring for good/being retrofitted with easier stuff to fix and more often than not losing their essence and what made the legendary in their time. Not better, not worse, just different from nostalgia expectations.
Valterri did a bloody great job here.
See the the thing with Aussie V8 series is the the car is just a rather large engine connected to rather small tyres via a diff and a gear box. Nothing else.
All control is via the guy hanging off the steering wheel.
Most other series have a lot of driver aids to help out.
Haha... bit rough on the gear! good fun! Thanks for the epic new style of HOONtv
My man red lining that baby like a pissed off 18 year old, the way it’s supposed to be done 👌🏻👌🏻
Valtteri is an awesome driver, but the craziness of Aussie V8 Supercars is clearly hard to control! Quite probably the best racing ever, huge congrats to everyone in V8 Supercars & thanks for such entertainment
Lol
Now we just wait for Valtteri Bottas and Davey Todd switching rides, just like Lewis Hamilton and Valentino Rossi did.
That would be the unforgettable battle of mullet haircuts.
Well, I'm just watching and my heart rate is UP. Some of the best in car shots I have ever seen. Hear that whine...his eyes tell all. Thank you😊😊
When you drive at that level is there really such a thing as bad conditions 😂
great footage, he got better and more confident, good driving
MAN, I HOPE VALTERI THE MULLET BOTTAS GETS A BATHURST SEAT ONE YEAR HAHAHA 😂❤😊
Put him in a burnout car 😂😂😂❤❤❤
He turned it into a burnout car :P
Yes chef....that's all he would be good at....l'd be scared that he'd blow up my push bike even...hahaha...l thought he's effort was rather poor myself....
Awesome work!
great to see Valtori have a great time
14:30 car is so Aussie it even sounds like Kookaburra
Those poor valve springs 😂
Yep, they’re going to scrap metal
He was having fun for sure. Revliniter abd drifting. Perfect 👍.
Love how his leg shakes. Same happens to me sometimes on new Drifttracks lol.
That's the kind of excitement missing from F1
That was the closest to the turbo F1 era still with manual gearbox.
Going to be watching more supercar from now onwards.
Great to read the comments, everyone enjoying the experience without the usual fanboy of F1 these days.
You could also see once he had things sorted out you could see where the crowd was along the track he would load the limiter up
so i have heard of drivers being so good you could put them behind the wheel of anything and they could make it dance
bottas seems to be one of those drivers 3 laps in he has complete throttle and break sense insane
Holds it in the rev limiter. Love it. Doing what we all want to do to that car 💪
Bashing the limiter!
What a sound a screaming V8 the best ! 🏴👍🏻👏👏👏
I have some questions... it has windshield viper motor on floor and gearbox in rear? How cool is that!
OMG, that beautiful V8 sound 💪💪💪
What tyres were you using in the wet? A052? R888R? Sport 4S?
What a sound, man
his INITIALS are VB, why has it taken me this long, and this many rewatches for me to realize
What do you mean it doesn’t rev out to 11k? God bless those springs and retainers😂
shocked my the lack of traction more like 😂😂. (sounds awesome btw)
tip in was actually sick
Loved how the cockpit went red each time he hit the rev limiter very devilish bet he was smiling under that helmet ha ha ha
Driving in the wet with a abundance of power is the same as driving on ice, that is what every car-happy Finn learn from age 11. In my childhood the frozen river ice was the training ground. A local schoolteacher was the fastest with his green Saab 99!
Real sound, real senses!
Where was the mechanical sympathy???? Not my car, I'll drive it like I stole it...
That's ok Shame has finished with it now ...
God I love the sound of those sequential gearbox’s. I want to know what they are.
My sphincter puckered watching this incredible drive. Thanks for sharing! What are all the levers for?
Antiroll bars. Soft through hard
Small black one on the right of gear lever is break bias to shift breaking bias to front or rear etc.
Blue and red are the front and rear anti roll bar adjustments to stiffen or soften
Hit the sphincter puck 😂
I'm pretty sure after the first 20 seconds out on the track, Tekno would have be saying "Ah well, we'll have another engine to be rebuilt after this guys is finished"
Their entire conversation was "yeh yep"
Legendary!!
As we say in my neck of the woods, let er rip tater chip! You could see in his eyes he was having the time of his life. Great video.
Mate, we say 'give it the berries'. In other words, drive it like a man 🍻💪
Serious piece of kit
Everything from and in Australia is just bat shit nutters!!!! Epic drive, love this Fin.
He's known as Valtteri Brownstain now. 😆👍
hurt watching downshift without the clutch other then that pre mint
What a beautiful sounding car.
Used to the scream of the F1 obviously 😂 surely the flashing red lights were a give away though
Reminds me of Wayne Gardner blowing up engines due to redlining 😂
Damn he can drive 😮 wow
Do they call him Lead-foot Valtteri? Its interesting how much different race cars physics translate for these sorts of crossovers, and how much doesn't haha. good watch
I really want to see him come over to do V8 supercars
I think the red lights mean "dont shift yet" in Formula One....lol
Adalaide looks so weird without the paddock buildings.
Agreed
What's that thing spining round in the passenger footwell?
We can him citizenship now 🍻
Not used to the TORQUE low down and midrange😂😂
Is he downshifting without clutching? Have they changed the gearbox?
We got the Commodore here as the Chevy Caprice for a few years, they made great police cruisers. Only problem with them was police dept's could get Chevy to get them here in good enough numbers.
whats the moving metal piece on the floor of the passanger side
So when is Riccardo driving bathurst?
That would be awesome
First gear is short, and particularly with the wet, he needs two hands to try and keep it straight before he gets his shift in.
Adelaide Motorsport festival was good fun
My second favorite sound in racing my first is a Nascar cup car ❤
Driving that thing is a lot of work! You’re busy ALL the time.😜😂
It's a Mullet and Commodore thing.
Nothing like the scream of straight cut gears or gear driven cams !
Been mucking around on this track with these cars on Assetto Corsa.
Sounds like how I drive 😂
In all seriousness excellent work, super tough car on a tough track, in the wet, no crashes or spin outs. Super proud of you mate 😊
you got a link for the ac track? only adelaide track i could find was chain of ponds lol
I've been trying to find a good V8 Supercars mod for AC but people said online that there aren't really any. Which one are you using?

lol so many red lights 😂
Don't think the engineers would have been impressed 😮
Yeah, did alright for no socks. 🙃😜
Hopefully with he and Tiffles running a few things out of S.A., a few promoters can get V.B. into other fun cars at various tracks around the country. Let him (low pressure) experience our gems.
