I used to work on contract at a large refining facility that used gasifiers and gas to liquid technology to make a vast array of products like petrol diesel jet fuel etc. The gasifiers burnt coal to produce gas that was pushed through a circuit by two trains of large screw compressors. I used to overhaul and prepare these units for the two yearly shutdowns. Ir's a very exacting assembly process . Clearances are critical. The "suicide" clearance on the rotors was a headache. It has to rather break or shear just behind the gear rather than destroy the casing and it could take more than a week to get right. We used 3 compressors in series to push the gas , each stage being smaller than the previous one with an increase in revs.
I would put the compressor housing on end, rather than on its side, to load in the lobe and trough rotors in that last image. If the rotors were lowered in axially, that would reduce possibility of scoring the housing or rotor edges.
If i was Elon Musk or Bill Gates, I'd totally have one of these compressors in my garage, hooked up to the harbor freight sand blasting cabinet. Can you imagine blasting at ~15,000cfm?

it's a crack checking fluid, the red fluid is sprayed on then wiped off, the second spray will show if the red dye has penetrated into a crack, the red will then show through as a line following any crack.

They were adding hard chromium plating. In the next video, they were showing it being precision ground back to the appropriate size. If a bearing gets spun or the part is accidentally made too small, they can put that hard chrome on and fix the part. They can build it up by a few thousands of an inch. Which is all you need sometimes.

Best job in the world.
It is very satisfying and pays very well but carries a huge burden of responsibility

We loaded them in vertically to avoid scuffing

kinda dumb to check for cracks after you machined it. would have done it before and after.
what brand blower is this
why did he spray the dye on then wipe it right back off?? was that not dye??
it's a crack checking fluid, the red fluid is sprayed on then wiped off, the second spray will show if the red dye has penetrated into a crack, the red will then show through as a line following any crack.
50 years ago if you so much as put an abrasive cloth to your machined product you would have been told not to come back. How times change.
In the old days you would have to file that thing by hand and took a year to make. Just kidding.

You don’t want to screw one of those up!
Using pin key on turbine blade fan is good but more better if use bolt pin (half and half)
Do you mean shoulder bolt?
