However, when building my XSE Hybrid on the Toyota sight, I noticed that previously it was listed as a feature in the Driver Assist Package, and now it's not, got me wondering if Toyota isn't including the hud on Camry anymore. without a doubt, the V6 for the win. a more powerful car is more fun to drive, and greater acceleration is always a good thing--when merging onto the freeway, when you need to pass someone, and when approaching a stale yellow light, more muscular acceleration is always preferable.

I bought a 2019 XSE 4 cyl in supersonic red. I’ve been reading through some of the comments and notice that, like me, they wish they’d gotten the V6. However to cheer us all up, over this last summer we traveled over 2000 miles on a family vacation. I always do my own fuel economy check by resetting the trip odometer and dividing the amount of miles by the amount of gallons it took to fill up. On one of the legs of our trip I achieved 44.5 mpg!!! With an over all avg of 41 mpg!😎

Where I'm at in Michigan, it's pretty much flat so the 4banger works just fine for me. I'm averaging about 35mpg while rolling about 83-85 MPH. The car rides smooth, I get good economy, and it's a really nice looking car, IMO. I'm pretty much satisfied with my purchase.

I have the 2022 XSE 4cyl in the pre dawn Mica Grey and I love the vehicle. I'm getting fairly decent MPG's around city driving it's steady about 24 MPG with minimal highway. I haven't had a chance to do a highway trip yet. I didn't care for the lane assist ( the car actually drives itself in cruise control!) it seemed to fight the driver with the radar operating the steering wheel. so I turned it off and I like the driving experience better. I love the Camry and am so happy with the car. Also, with Android Auto and Apply car play now you really don't need that expensive NAV package. The maps are right there on the screen directly from your phone. I cannot see getting the 6 cyl, but I am very happy witih the performance. Best regards to all from Connecticut! Gardis

AMEN ... I kept my 2009 Camry V6 and now I am not going to sell it. I thought I could get accustomed to the 4 CYL ... but after 3 months and 1,800 miles, I hate the engine's rough vibration and loud exhausts. Other than the crappy engine, my 2021 Camry SE is flawless, including the transmission ... but I still hate it due to 4 cyl engine. My 09 V6 with 138,000 miles on the original spark plugs gets 26 mpg. With identical driving, my 4 cyl gets 30 mpg ... not worth hating a car for such a small fuel price difference.

I drive the 4cyl XSE its pretty nice all around. It still gets up very fast. Its all around solid. Unless you are at the drag strip, im not sure its worth paying more for a V6. Youre not going to be going that much faster in the city or highway unless you're doing illegal street racing. I rarely get a chance to open it up on a long abandoned strip and even when I do its pretty damn impressive. It gets up to 90 and feels like only 60, you can easily push to 100+ before you start to feel any kind of wiggle or sway in steering or suspension. It really does glide. You're either gliding slowly or gliding like a sniper bullet. I dont ever feel like I'm wishing for more power. The ONLY thing I would argue is worth getting the V6 for is for the sheer fact that the 4cyl exhaust note will always sound ugly no matter what you do to the exhaust. You just get a louder and louder lawn mower note.

I had a 22 XSE 4cyl and then traded it for a 22 XSE V6 so I have experience with both. In both cases, the electronic throttle programming is horrible (yes I tried the different modes) and so is the transmission software. The V6 is better at coping with the poor software programming because it has more power at the lower end vs the 4cyl. The 4cyl gets bogged down very easily because of the software which then requires more aggressive throttle inputs but that hurts mpgs and it's sounds thrashy at higher rpms. Test drive the 4cyl and see if you can live with the small motor with the bad software logic. If you can then don't test drive the V6.

Jeff, thank you for making these Camry videos over the last few years. I have a 2023 Camry XSE V6 (supersonic red/ black) with all 3 main packages. Driver Assist, Cold Weather and Navigation Upgrade. Then some extra accessories. Immediately after receiving/acceptance of my Camry from the dealership I had drove about 1/2 mile to a Tire Outlet Shop and got the Bridgestone Turanza EL440 tires replaced with Michelin CrossClimate2. I refuse to drive on unsafe and hazardous tires, to prevent other people from injury, I had the Turanza tires shredded. I do not like vehicles with slushy and slow acceleration, I always loved classic and muscle cars. So the 3.5L V6 was for me. Toyota rating or listed MPG is terribly incorrect as average MPG is just under 18 MPG combined. The Heads Up Display angle or pitch or tilt is a bit off center/ out of alignment but easy to see. I bought a Ottocast U2-X Pro for Wireless Car Play and Android Auto which works well. The weather/climate plays games with the Sensors and at times get messages/alerts posted on the Instrument Cluster. It would have been nice if the front brakes had the larger caliper and disc brakes like the TRD as it would really make a huge difference in braking feel and stopping distance. Panoramic roof has a nice appeal when the skirt/shade is open or pushed all the way back, as long as you do not open/ prop up the glass roof. Unfortunately Toyota failed to upgrade from Safety Sense 2.5plus to 3.0 on the 2023 Camry but to do so would have required Toyota to replace some computerized gadgets and sensors costing Toyota more money just like putting a higher quality grade tire since Bridgestone Turanza EL440 are dangerous or more like a dry summer only tire to last maybe up to 20K miles providing you don't get into an auto accident first. I enjoy driving the Camry XSE V6 regardless of random and occasional alerts because of malfunctioning sensors during snow and rainy weather. To make the Camry XSE V6 more enjoyable would be having it mated with a manual transmission. I believe no vehicle should have a Ground Clearance lesser than 6.8 inches and sad that Toyota Camry is at 5.7 inches. Oh! bummer is No Fog Lamps. The 2023 Toyota Camry XSE V6 is much better than the new Gen 2023 Honda Accord Touring Hybrid.
But Toyota decided to drop the V6 in 2024 therefore handing the Mid-Size Car #1 title back to Honda or possibly to Mazda. Driving a 4-Banger is like driving a Golf Cart or Putt-Putt mobile and not fun to drive at all.

They dropped the V6 Entirely here in Australia, every Camry model variation comes with the 2.5 L hybrid and only the base model Altise has the option of the 2.5L petrol only engine. 72% of camry sales in Aus on 2020 were the hybrid. Not a lot of V6 sold here. We seem go go hard out power with V8’s or straight up economy with I4’s.
V6 are kinda relics now, now that the days of our Falcons and Commodores have gone. Not a lot of new vehicle purchase option for a 6 cylinder, well not when comparing to 4’s or 8’s.

You are so right. I miss my 2009 V6 LE so much. I thought I'd get used to the I4 SE... but no ... it's still disgusting after 6,100 miles. Both the level of power and the smooth transmission are fine ... but the noise is so annoying and exactly as you describe it. To call it "Tin Can" is putting it mildly ... how about just plain LOUD Piece of S&^% !!! I have to keep the volume of my MP3 player music (oldies and disco) way high so I can't hear the awful "tin can." (Too bad the vibration still comes through to my body.)

If you want the V6, better grab one while it’s still available. I have a strong feeling the V6 will be axed in the next model update/redesign. Looking at the specs for the new Lexus NX, there is one engine that could possibly replace the V6, the turbo-4 cylinder T24A-FTS.
The current V6 in the Camry is from an older design (2GR-FKS). While super reliable as it is based off of the 2GR-FE engine from the previous gen of Camry’s, Toyota is probably looking to migrate all engine offerings to their new Dynamic Force platform which is what the 4-cylinder is based off of (A25A-FKS).
The Dynamic Force platform includes many innovations that the GR engine lacks such as motor driven water pump, better thermal efficiency, laser clad valve seat, and tumble flow in the intake.

I wonder why the sunroof isn’t just a standard option for the car by now. Makes no sense, especially as technology advances everything should be standard that is optional when you do add ons, even if you don’t get the V6. I’m getting my 2022 XSE by the end of this month but I really wish I would’ve got the sunroof and the other cool features, but for some reason the dealer mentioned it would make my
Monthly payment change, so I didn’t do it maybe one day though. At least it comes with some good features so far 😭🤗

    • @katazack
      @katazack 2 роки тому

You should get exactly what you want, although that is difficult right now because of the limited availability of the cars. If it is important to you, just wait until the car you want comes available. As far as your payment changing, the sunroof does add about $1,000 to the cost of the car.

I just got my Camry SE upgraded, in Toronto, Canada.
for about 34,000 canadian, lease for 39 months, for 283.00 monthly with trade in for my BMW 535 xdrive, 10 yrs old.
Downgraded from old Beemer to new Camry having in mind my age. For younger fellows, 6 cylinder is better, of course,
BMW is even better but it will cost you double and depreciation in value is enormously big, so, if you can not claim for tax on your business , or don’t have money to waste, go for new Camry 2021 which different then your grandma or grandpa car.

I own a 2020 XSE V6, and have owned a 2022 I4. The V6 is smoother and more powerful, but it'll cost you at least eight MPG. And, if you "need" 300 HP to support your driving style, you are a reckless driver and shouldn't be on the highway with those of us who drive safely. Public roads are NOT your playground. Driving isn't about having "fun". It's about getting from point A to point B safely. Hurt or kill someone and you have to live with that the rest of your life. And forget ECO mode. It won't save you a dime.
