Based on my professional ability to look around and see what's happening, it is perplexing to me that Edmonton fans and media are shocked this is happening.

Really surprised how little people talked about Hintz being out and the impact he'd have coming back. When a 30 goal #1 center is out its usually a really big deal. Dallas just has 10 x 20 goal scorers and not a lot flash I guess so its kind of under the radar.

The Brady Tkachuk trade question turned into a meme. Hilarious.

    Frank, Hosts...
    Great Podcast, enjoying it alot!!
Heres the thing, and theres no getting around this...
Play the full 60 minutes EVERY NIGHT, CUZ THAT MATTERS this time of year, in the final 4, do that thing and you win a 7 game series...
Up 2-0, seize the moment with that atmosphere and that game by scoring on That PP you covet, and maybe keeping your pedal down and that 2nd period doesnt happen the way it did...
Frank's right, And the Oilers know it too...
That middle 20 minutes cost them the game...
Full 60 minute effort from 19 pairs of skates in game 4 and it will be a best of 3...

What if what? There's two teams playing. Dallas won, and dominated after the first.

I'm a Canuck fan cheering for Dallas (go figure), but I'm not a rabid Dallas fan so I'm reasonably objective. Anyway in my opinion, Edmonton was definitely not the better team. They played a fabulous first period and easily deserved their 2-0 lead. Dallas had a better 2nd period than Edmonton's first and should have ended the period up 3-2 except for a goal against the run of play. That happens and full marks to the Oilers, they made a quick strike and tied the game. Edmonton lost the 3rd period, they were not the better team. The shots were pretty even up until Dallas scored their 4th goal. Edmonton fans and media just love the shot clock, but guess what, most of those shots were taken after Dallas was up 4-3 and defending their lead. Last time I checked, the highest number of goals scored wins the game, not the number of shots taken.

Your not rabid, you were able to escape the riots 🧟😂

@@shadowspeedx8585 Yes I did escape the riots. I lived, and still live about a 15 minute walk from the 2011 riot area. I walked to work the next day through the "war" zone and it was pretty unsettling to know that a few crazy people could cause so much damage. The good news, is that by July 2015 (it did take a really long time), the last 2 suspects were charged. There were a total of 301 suspects and 274 plead guilty. In addition to whatever sentences those people got, a number of them were then victims of some amount of "social" justice when they were identified by the general public in riot videos and were harassed for their actions and some lost their jobs and were kicked off their sports teams. I don't really condone that, but "live by the mob, die by the mob", so I'm not too sympathetic either. 274 people is only 1.5% of the total number that attended the game and doesn't even register when divided by the Canucks entire fan base. I am still PO'd about it to this day. It was a huge embarrassment for Vancouver and the other 99.9% or more of Canuck fans who were well behaved.

@@davidmiles6845 sorry I joked but know it’s not funny, it was all over the news in Edmonton and I was pissed off the Canucks lost to Boston as well, I was cheering for them to win their first cup, they deserved it more than Boston that year I think. The cup isn’t always fairly won in my opinion, that’s what makes it the hardest to win.

@@shadowspeedx8585 Thanks for your response. I could tell that your previous remark was just meant to be a gentle tease and not mean-spirited and that's how I took it. I just took the opportunity to post a few facts & feelings about the 2011 riot in case any one else was interested. Best wishes to you. :)

Dallas was better in the second and third. This is what they did to Vegas and Colorado.

Shots were 13-3 Oil in the 3rd. The stars won this game in the 2nd period & got a leaky game winner. All that matters is that they did win this game but it was not total domination for the final 40mins.

Oilers are not a tenacious 60 minute team.....let downs are all over their resume. Nurse is making 10.5 million this year. This game 4 is the series...they lose its over. The stars are the better team..

Frank, I don't get how you go from a good conclusion of "when you have the puck on your stick 3 different times in the zone and you can't get it out" to a bad one of "I don't really think this is as much on the forwards". This is on everybody, I'm afraid. The goals against were faults of many players, and I don't really believe Nurse was the main culprit on any. The ones involving Nurse... one was a really poor decision by Desharnais to try and bank it up the boards past Benn rather than just passing it back to Nurse for an easier outlet. Adding a "what if", what if they get that puck up ice as they should have? The other goal were Robertson jammed it in to a small area because Skinner didn't cover the post properly.
The first two goals against in game 3 really highlight the main problem with the Oilers (especially the first one), and that's that guys on this team sometimes seem to forget that if they don't take that put that little extra effort to heave it across the blueline, for example, they will get burned. Maybe not right away, maybe not at all, but often it will result in sustained zone pressure that can tire a team out and kill momentum, and/or lead to worse - a goal against. If you watch enough Oilers hockey (and I presume you watch a lot), you will see this a LOT.. from several players, including a lot of forwards. I wish everyone had the same attention to detail and drive as Janmark and Brown, but with better hands. Those guys almost never cheat the game, and that's why you almost never see them hemmed in their zone (quite the reverse, more often).
While I also don't think Nurse is the solution, I don't think he's the problem that people make him to be either. The contract is unquestionably bad, and I think because of that, I do try and move him (because there's only so much money to go around and you have Bouch/McD/Drai raises down the road), but he can definitely be a good player for the Oilers in THIS playoffs. Coffey has to figure it out with him, but really, he needs to pick his moments. He is a very good skater and good puck mover, but he has to be that last guy back more often than not.
Also, the Nurse/Ceci pair is a disaster.. Nurse/Desharnais is marginally better, but both of those guys on the right side also aren't good decision makers at the best of time nor very good puck movers. The Oilers should have moved mountains to pick up a 2nd pair RHD at the deadline, and now it's costing them. What a difference Tanev could have made, if they were successful there, but they could have aimed lower (Carrier?).

nurse problem every year and especially in important games/playoffs... is his head.. Just forgets here he is and uhat his priority is. Not a smart player (some of the time)... and the lapses are critical in key games.
