Also, another thing that really bothers me is Chopper's death. I know he had to be killed so that your true demon potential could be unleashed, but the "electrical system is messed up, the canopy won't blow. The ejection seat is probably not working either" is really forced upon the player purely for dramatic purposes. Ejection seats are independent from the aircraft systems. They work via a little explosive planted on the canopy, which will work regardless if you have power on your aircraft or not. Also, the seats function via a solid rocket booster, which will also fire regardless of the aircraft having power or not. TL;DR - even if Chopper's aircraft was 99% damaged (lol), current tecnology says that he should have been able to eject safely in much harsher conditions. I would also like to mention that I shed some tears on that mission (Chopper was my favorite character) and that is why I find necessary to say that his death was really lame, 100+ sins material.
next mission pops and genette are talking about the fact that there had been some budget cuts to have 3 planes in the price of 2 by sacrificing some parts without affecting "its overal performance" I think its just fine
Ace Combat 5 is a very special game to me. It taught me the english I know today, was the first game I played with a story, I got it as a gift from my father, an original cd copy for ps2, I've learned so much with this game, what makes me feel that it's very, very special. I came to see this video thinking that I'd be mad at someone talking bad things about my favourite game, but instead, it's very funny and true, some fails are so hidden that it's difficult to notice. This video is simply amazing
I felt the same when i was going to watch ace combat 6 but your right it was funny and very true so many things that dont make sense now that im older but still i love this game i was in middle school and knew so much about jets

@@pain3236The first AI drones in this world were canonically created in the mid- to late-1990s, in the Z.O.E. project. AI drones would have existed at this time for sure.
What about how Cpt Bartlett was flying a two man plane, but only he ejects, and there is never any mention of his RIO before or after the ejection. Back-seaters are like second-class citizens in the Ace Combat universe.
Probably as a trainer he has no RIO. We never get to know Snows RIO, and all of the razgriz fly Tomcats.... 2 seater planes... The cutscene where Oka Nieba appears is awesome. Seeing these aircraft from both sides defect to both sides and hearing land forces over the radio doing the same is just holy shit, that should happen more often in games like this.

The AH-64 does actually have evacuation capabilities. Internally, no, it does however have space that has been used on numerous occasions to transport troops on it's avionics pods.
This was really fun to watch! I had like 600+ hours on the game... couldn't stop playing it! It was the best Ace Combat IMO. Super funny, great editing! Thanks for taking me down memory lane!
Quick explanation for sin #64 Yukes obviously being analogous to Russia and Estovakia being the same with Serbia, basically the Hrimfaxi was being housed in Estovakian sovereign waters with additional logistical support. It was also a smart move to send Wardog, considering OSEA could deny culpability and throw them to the wolves in the event of Stovies finding out
Yeah but that would be a dick move and governments never pull dick moves. Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to finish Metal Gear Solid 3. (gayly skips away)
This has to be my favorite game of all time, despite all the weird, contradicting shit you pointed out. XD on a separate note, this video is hilarious and it was good to have a nostalgic glimpse at a substantial part of my younger days. Thanks! :)
I like this game, but Zero is still my favorite for it's narrative and replayability. Gonna get Seven tomorrow, here's hoping that game can unseat Zero.
Good timing, I just finished 5. I loved it and can't wait to replay some of the missions again after I finish Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War: The War 15 Years Ago. Also Oka Nieba is true friend-tier.
That sinking feeling when you see thunderhead name in red, thunder head isnt that kind of awac you hate or you love he just kinda like there but i agree it feels bad calling him an enemy
Sin 108 explanation. It was explained in the game that then island had a lot of interference on their systems, which you can see by the radar. Judging from Ashley's (heh heh) response, it's probably messing up their ability to lock on if they try to get in range, so all they could do is follow Wardog.
Sometimes I like to imagine the player characters of this series hanging out in a bar somewhere and sharing war stories. Here's an example: Blaze: So we were assigned to perform a ceremonial flight over November City's stadium, and they told us our planes would be fully armed. At the time, I thought nothing of it; I told myself, "Well, there IS war going on, so it's better to have weapons and not need them than to need them and not have them." Looking back now, that should've been where the alarms in my head started blaring. It's almost like they knew we would be attacked... in fact, I'm STILL not convinced that isn't the case. Cipher: I know how that feels. When I saw the Bm-335 in the mission briefing that awful day, I should've known that the Belkans were planning to drop nukes; since then, I thank God every day that we weren't vaporized in the blast. Mobius 1: So what happened next? Blaze: A squadron of Yuktobanian fighters attacked us. We tried calling for backup, but someone deployed an ECM and told the base that our request was just a drill, so the four of us were left to fight alone. During the fight, Chopper's plane was critically damaged and he couldn't eject. He asked if there was a place he could drop his plane without causing any collateral damage, and I was about to tell him to drop in the river, but Edge told him to drop in the center of the stadium. If only I had spoken up just a second sooner, then maybe, just maybe, Chopper would still be alive. Damn it, Nagase! Why did you tell him to drop in the stadium? *sigh* Phoenix: So what happened next? Blaze: After seeing Chopper crash... I'm not sure how to explain it, really. It was like my anger awakened a demon within me or something. I'm sure the same thing happened to Edge and Archer, because, next thing we knew, our flying abilities drastically improved... I'm not entirely sure how that worked for Edge exactly - what did she think would happen when she told Chopper to drop in the stadium? - but I digress. I don't really remember what happened after that; everything from that point is a blurred mess of radio chatter, radar lock sirens, explosions, rage, and sadness. What do you think?
I think that if Project Aces (for whatever reason) ever decides to make an Ace Combat anime, this is the format it should use. EDIT: Actually, scratch that. Even if it's just a fan-comic, I'd love to see this concept actually play out.
Great job putting to words what we all felt when chopper died even when I first played that mission I thought the water be probably best try and stall the plane before touchdown in the water or skim the water slowing the plane then find a way to open the hatch and swim to shore or at least float till rescue came to but no being told to hit the ground that doesn’t even have any chance at survival roads the ground outside the city limits or the water all could’ve had a chance at survival if pulled off right but sadly they wanted us to have a heart breaking moment
This was the game that started my fandom of the Ace Combat series. I was in the U.S Air Force going through training as an AWACS crewmember , I walked into my buddy's dorm room and he was was playing this game. I went to the BX later that day and picked up this game and the rest is history.

I think it's safe to say the reason *why* MG1 has the Osean flag on its tail is because the Mother Goose One callsign refers to *any* Osean plane carrying the President, just not that specific C-5 Galaxy.
Exactly. There's no *specific* Mother Goose One, as the callsign refers to any Osean military transport/airliner carrying the President. On that subject, I think it's more-or-less likely that Osea has at least *one* VC-25 or comparable aircraft.

"Eight people died because the command room had misplaced some zeroes." And yet the guys in the command room still have a job after this. Thunderhead doesn't notice enemy planes until they're within striking distance of three aircraft carriers leading to the loss of two of the carriers, yet Thunderhead still has a job after this. The base commander sends a bunch of untrained rookie pilots into combat resulting in every single one of them getting killed, and yet the base commander still has a job after this. Thunderhead fails to notice enemy planes until they're within striking distance of the stadium, endangering the lives of countless civilians and the vice-president and leading to the death of a squadron member, and yet Thunderhead STILL isn't flipping burgers at McDonands after this.
In the carrier mission I imagine Thunderhead and everyone else (including Chopper) were so confident that the carriers were safe, he was probably joking around with someone behind him instead of looking at the radar.
@@JaelinBezel I mean....I want to agree. I really do. But the rotodome on top of an E-3 sentry AWACS plane has a range of 250mi for low altitude targets, and 400mi for medium and high altitude. ThunderBLOCKhead should've seen these things coming LONG before they got within range of the carriers. I mean, those planes were within spitting distance of them when they noticed....and it was Chopper who noticed!
@@templarwyvern9236 But they didn't fly in from 250+ miles away. They were launched from the Scinfaxi probably less than 20 miles away. All of the enemy planes in that mission are STOVL craft, meaning that they wouldn't necessarily need a runway or full-sized carrier catapult to take off. Because they were launched from such close proximity, there wasn't proper time to react. Thunderhead likely fairly assumed that in the unlikely event of enemy aircraft approaching, occasional glances at the radar would more than suffice thanks to that radar range, and was surprised when enemy aircraft suddenly appeared out of seemingly nowhere right on top of them.
Funny you mention Nagase's Jealousy at 26:10 because whenever I played that part, after Nastasya would reply "Me? I'm mystery woman number one." Nagase would immediately say "Edge, Engaging" hahaha
22:10 I always assumed the briefing was given by some sort of automated program. The voice sounds *just* robotic enough. Also, the last four missions in the game are ALL feels. There's actually 15 years ago start the Belkan war , so , the first point probably didn't go wrong At first part of the AC Zero , start in 2005 , but it also said " 10 years ago , there was a war"

@@makotoyuki2199 I think it's a slang for out of missiles. Get it? Out of missiles means you got to use guns to attack so you are all "Winchester" now. Heh

OK, it might have been mentioned before, but if it hasn't, I'll point out at 6:15 it isn't bugged, it's scripted, the cutscene shows the mass driver getting hit for dramatic effect, so they added the line

On the digital world map here, Directus is spelled Dilectus lol. Also on Four Horsemen, Nagase can also create that botch where the radar attack momentarily has to be postponed.
Coming back to this video with a realization about Journey Home - You, Blaze, _aren't_ Wardog One according to OMDF records - Nagase is. She was assigned the lead position after Bartlett was shot down!
@@SlyAceZeta What I'm saying, now that I'm not typing on my phone, is that, while Blaze is the effective leader of Wardog Squadron, Nagase is the _official_ leader of the squadron. The reason, or at least my speculative reason, why Nagase is in the lead position during the ceremonial flight over November City is probably because, according to Osean military records, she's the lead plane, with Blaze still being recognized as Wardog 4.
@@GoredonTheDestroyer Ohhhhhhhhh. Yeah, that wouldn't fly, because those same records would show that she resigned her position the second she got it :P
Slycooperfan, I have to mention that you forgot an important point. If I do recall correctly, there is a line on "final option" where you hear Kirk (Pop's dog) barking on the radio and you can answer yes or no. So, if you can answer Kirk over the radio, that probably means that he is also inside the plane with Pops and Genette (maybe on his lap, I guess). Since there are scenes of Kirk on the Kestrel's deck, you can assume that the dog was with them. When you get shot down and eject, Genette would have to hold Kirk, which looks like a 30+kg dog, all the way to the ground. And that is just casually ignored by the game. That's definitely sin material.
10:18 'That's my anti-tank-rifle! I brought it with me from home!' WHY?! HOW?! Does EVERYONE in this world run around with a goddamn Anti-TANK-Rifle?! Apparently, everyone in Strangereal doesn't comply with laws. Assuming, they had laws.
So here’s my crack theory on sin 85 (the whole Edge leading the flyby) I can see it as that Chopper, Archer, and Edge know that Blaze often likes to just break off from formation and basically commit a speed run of seeing Active Enemy Planes to No enemy planes So they figured he’d instead just follow them as a sort of “leash” to keep their psychopath with a big brain in strategy in check
I wouldn't say White Bird I is bugged as much as AC5 just doesn't give half a damn about dialogue actually matching up with what's really going on in gameplay. :D Of course most AC games are guilty of this to an extent, it's just in those you're usually too busy actually playing them to notice.
PositronCannon I recorded a line for this in Blind Spot, which is the most egregious of examples of dialogue not matching gameplay in AC5, but I wasn't happy with my delivery and axed it. However, White Bird (Part I) is different. "Hit by cruise missile" is specifically bugged because it plays at the end of the mission, no matter what, without fail, every time.
SlyCooperFan1 It's scripted, not bugged. (a feature) also, would it be possible that a missile just didn't show up on your iff and that why the driver was hit.
You know how Snow says "Look at that smoke its in its death throes" in White Bird Part 2? There isnt any. If this game gets remastered i hope they can at least fix that at and the no shockwaves for the ammo dumps blowing up.

I feel you man
And even *if* his seat was, somehow, broken without him dying... he could just ditch it in the river.
Shadow Hedgehog to be honest if Nagase didn’t mention the stadium he’d still be alive.
next mission pops and genette are talking about the fact that there had been some budget cuts to have 3 planes in the price of 2 by sacrificing some parts without affecting "its overal performance" I think its just fine

I'm a little shy around strangers you know...
Yeah it’s my favorite game too
I felt the same when i was going to watch ace combat 6 but your right it was funny and very true so many things that dont make sense now that im older but still i love this game i was in middle school and knew so much about jets
Hey,it's the same for me.I learned English in AC5😂😂.But sadly,I stucked on mission where you have to defend your squad for takeoff😆😆I don't know what to do.Thats how 6yo playing game that needs English vocabulary 😅😅
Same story bro... I got this game in 2004 wen I was 4 years old .. my father gifted to me with the PlayStation2 I was so exited I have so many feelings for this game it was the very first game with story that I have played I also learned some English from this... I have played this game so much...
3:37 I mean, in Ace Combat's world it's a legit question. The drones could be either controlled from a remote location, or driven by an AI.
this video was made after Ace Combat 7, so its been confirmed that AI drones are a revolutionary concept in that world and probably nonexistant at the time
@@christiangamingchannel6284 there is literally a mission in this game where you kill AI drones
Also anyone ever thought about how the fucking dog got with them, are you telling me Kirk survived a fucking ejection despite being a dog... Also who the fuck would have activated the ejector.
@OneGoogleUser but ejection seats are designed around the human anatomy. The dog wouldn't have survived REEEE
@OneGoogleUser that I would believe is plane dependent, but I think the trainers would likely have a unified eject

The whole demon thing is one of the things I love about ac5 and zero they make you feel like you’re actually an all powerful demon that everyone fears and respects, this unlocking the demon is smt I really missed playing through ace combat 6 and 7
The cutscene where Oka Nieba appears is awesome. Seeing these aircraft from both sides defect to both sides and hearing land forces over the radio doing the same is just holy shit, that should happen more often in games like this.
"Too bad chopper never got to use that call sign officially" I had a little sniffle to man. Feelsbad
4:27 Enemy planes manage to get within striking distance of the carriers and are detected by the fighter pilots long before Thunderhead notices them, resulting in the loss of 2 aircraft carriers, and yet Thunderhead isn't flipping burgers at Mcdonald's after this colossal fuck-up. +1 sin.

You know what? How did a fat guy make it into the military and get promoted to Commander????
He looks like he wouldnt be able to go 10 yards without getting winded.
The AH-64 does actually have evacuation capabilities. Internally, no, it does however have space that has been used on numerous occasions to transport troops on it's avionics pods.
Nagase mostly pointed out the obvious...
"Are those drones remote controlled?"
"We have to get to the SOLG, fast!!!"
I thought she was asking whether the drones were remote controlled or had a pre-programmed flight path.
Thank you Captain Kei "Obvious" Nagase
This was really fun to watch! I had like 600+ hours on the game... couldn't stop playing it! It was the best Ace Combat IMO.
Super funny, great editing! Thanks for taking me down memory lane!
Quick explanation for sin #64
Yukes obviously being analogous to Russia and Estovakia being the same with Serbia, basically the Hrimfaxi was being housed in Estovakian sovereign waters with additional logistical support.
@@JaelinBezel the boss' death is the biggest dick move tho
This has to be my favorite game of all time, despite all the weird, contradicting shit you pointed out. XD
on a separate note, this video is hilarious and it was good to have a nostalgic glimpse at a substantial part of my younger days. Thanks! :)
Chopper, goddamit ;_;
Here's an example:
Blaze: So we were assigned to perform a ceremonial flight over November City's stadium, and they told us our planes would be fully armed.
*sigh*
Phoenix: So what happened next?
Blaze: After seeing Chopper crash... I'm not sure how to explain it, really. It was like my anger awakened a demon within me or something. I'm sure the same thing happened to Edge and Archer, because, next thing we knew, our flying abilities drastically improved... I'm not entirely sure how that worked for Edge exactly - what did she think would happen when she told Chopper to drop in the stadium? - but I digress. I don't really remember what happened after that; everything from that point is a blurred mess of radio chatter, radar lock sirens, explosions, rage, and sadness.
What do you think?
Its nice to know that blaze could speak another sentences instead YES/NO
I think that if Project Aces (for whatever reason) ever decides to make an Ace Combat anime, this is the format it should use. EDIT: Actually, scratch that. Even if it's just a fan-comic, I'd love to see this concept actually play out.
@@gngskpow fam, thats a good idea
Great job putting to words what we all felt when chopper died even when I first played that mission I thought the water be probably best try and stall the plane before touchdown in the water or skim the water slowing the plane then find a way to open the hatch and swim to shore or at least float till rescue came to but no being told to hit the ground that doesn’t even have any chance at survival roads the ground outside the city limits or the water all could’ve had a chance at survival if pulled off right but sadly they wanted us to have a heart breaking moment

gotigers98675 thats thunder block-head pigheaded for you
In the carrier mission I imagine Thunderhead and everyone else (including Chopper) were so confident that the carriers were safe, he was probably joking around with someone behind him instead of looking at the radar.

@@SlyAceZeta What I'm saying, now that I'm not typing on my phone, is that, while Blaze is the effective leader of Wardog Squadron, Nagase is the _official_ leader of the squadron.

Terrorist: "(deadpan) Oh fuck, that's an anti-tank rifle. ...OH *FUCK!* THAT'S AN ANTI-TANK RIFLE!!"
So here’s my crack theory on sin 85 (the whole Edge leading the flyby)
I can see it as that Chopper, Archer, and Edge know that Blaze often likes to just break off from formation and basically commit a speed run of seeing Active Enemy Planes to No enemy planes
So they figured he’d instead just follow them as a sort of “leash” to keep their psychopath with a big brain in strategy in check

I wouldn't say White Bird I is bugged as much as AC5 just doesn't give half a damn about dialogue actually matching up with what's really going on in gameplay. :D
Of course most AC games are guilty of this to an extent, it's just in those you're usually too busy actually playing them to notice.

Memesis But that's too eaaasssyyyyy.
That's the game playthrough already lol
Everything wrong with AC0? Should be a quick video.
DFM....done
DFM... ROOOOOLL credits!
Some of the cliche sins are most likely deliberate, and it's kind of part of the charm, it's like a half anime game lol

For the Europeans: Roll credits *Sin*

I really wanna see an Ace combat 5 remakes with a few changes. 1. Escorting Harling into the Capitol, that'd be dope as fuck. 2. Give the Yukes a full contingent of Russian aircraft, I'm talking replace every single moment they use an american or british aircraft with a russian one. and 3. Yuktobanian squadmate, I actually really like swordsmen but I feel a Yuke squadmate would be really cool and kinda fit into that whole "yuktobania and osea working together" idea
