I love your recipe so much I'm making another batch today.
Btw, I don't layer. I simply pour the ziti/ricotta mix in a 13x9 pan, pour over the meat sauce (I add mushrooms to it), then sprinkle the cheeses on top. Comes out wonderful! It makes about 6 BIG servings. It stores beautifully in the frig. Take some to work!

I, too, always 'schwish' out my jars to get all the sauce -- but I use a 1/4 cup measure and pull the starchy cooking water right from the pasta and use that. Not only does it clean the jar, but it thickens the sauce at the same time.
I do the same thing. I will add some chopped dehydrated to further dry the sauce if necessary. Wife thinks I'm nuts but then I'm a married man anyway. I think Sabarrow had the best baked zitti and garlic roll when they were in business.

You can use the whole one pound box of ziti. Just make a little more sauce. Then make the baked ziti in two smaller pans, or even that size and a little side one. (Which can be frozen for later if you don’t have enough guests to eat it up.)

Qban Celli , yes, I noticed she did not use any seasoning. Pasta needs to be cooked in salted water. That is the only time the pasta will absorb flavor.

Just use jar sauce.
Use a little oasta water to pour in empty sauce jar. Good trick there.
PS: My grandmother, rest her sole, was Polish, and I remember her cooking all of the time. No recipes for her. She did everything by taste. I always wanted to cook like her, and I do. Once I'm comfortable with a recipe, I do my own thing. My recipes never turn out quite the same, but my family loves them. I've even thrown things together, no recipe, and it always comes out excellent. Thank you, Grandma! :D

I agree with you on the store bagged cheeses, the add potato starch as a binder, nasty! I always grate my own cheese, cheaper too. I love your baking dish. I've been cooking for a long time but every time I watch one of your videos I learn a new technique LOL

* re adding water: Save a bit of the water before you drain your pasta. It helps melt every thing together as well as thinning down your mixture. Nice recipe, Jenny!

I like this idea a lot. I also use already cooked, seasoned spinach, carrots and zuccini is great. I know this sounds weird but a drained and rinsed can of red kidney beans is soooo good. People that turned their noses up at that part always love it.

I really like that you share ideas for lower fat recipes, and I confess, I have been a buyer of packaged shredded cheese in the past - but NO MORE. I am a changed woman!
Yes… that was interesting to find out… also buying the block of cheese and then grating yourself, saves money.
You can buy a big block of cheese , shredded it and put it in a ziplock bag and put it in the freezer. It save a lot of time!

Jenny- thank you for this easier way to make baked ziti, My mom used to do the long drawn out version and she probably would not approve of this way to do it because she was old school Italian. But I love it and it makes life easier for me so I made your baked ziti today inside of a half an hour, huge pan for my house and a huge pain for my daughters house!
