This video doesn't have enough views. Your work is so stunning!
That is an excellent painting. If that is your first attempt, it would be interesting to see how much better you've gotten. Keep up the great work.
Thank you! 💜
You voice shows that you are still young but your paintings are very advanced. Thanks for your sharing with open n friendly explaination.
Great work. Umangat talaga yung muka. I'll be painting my first monochrome today, instead of listening to tutorial i got a breath of fresh air listening to you. Wish me luck.

Thanks. I have one of those so will use in class. The 500 series is so strong.
I've been viewing videos for weeks by searching for "gouache portrait" and I am surprised your video only came up in my search today. You are better than lots of others who got more views. Thank you for introducing the wattsalelier website. I will definitely check out their classes!
Thank you! Hopefully I’ll be more active on UA-cam soon!
@@ohheydevin1992 Good. Looking forward.
Your paintings are underrated! They look surreal! ❤ by the way, if you dont mind my asking, can you paint gouache on canvas?
I think that you can.
it's my first time watching your video(s)....wow your work is super dope🥰
Thank you so much!!
Amaaaaaaanzing 😍😍😍🤩🤩🤩🤩
Wow, beautiful. Also, hearing you mention a really bad flu and knowing it was around 2018, you may have had the dangerous start of the Covid 19 virus back then 😔🤔 and we were all clueless. Glad you’re ok!
Thank you! I think you’re right about the flu I had, it was truly awful!
I like it this video great job
Thank you!
Instead of getting another desk for oil painting, maybe concider an easel. When I painted more I painted much more vertically than I draw (except watercolor) great video and great painting. I'd love to hear your insights on the painting as you are doing it too because is love to improve.
Christian Meditation that's a good idea, I'll have to look into that! Thank you!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hi! Awesome video is it the strath more Heavy mixed media you are using? Also does the paper warp afterwards? Thanks! 🤩
It’s pretty heavy paper but I don’t really work in light washes so if that’s something you do it might not be the sketchbook for you. Even with tape I remember it buckled a little. Hope that helps!
@@ohheydevin1992 do you know if I can use gouache on arches hot pressed watercolour paper it’s 140 lb? And also do I need to Prime it? Did you do it? Because I’ve read that the gouache can crack if applied directly from tube is that ok even though you might choose good brands? Thanks in advance ☺️
I can see how you regioned out different areas of value... I will try this next time. I was trying to blend my gouache in the way you might with acrylics/oils and it just was not working! I'm realizing that gouache works best for graphic, color-blocky illustrations, it doesn't cater so much to that realistic, "blended" effect I was going for. We have to work with the medium and what it's good for, otherwise choose another x
You can get some glass cut and beveled to fit your desk top
Why my grey shades look blue? I don't understand. Please someone help me. I mixed Ivory Black and Titanium White in different proportions to create different shades. While the darker tones are fine, somewhat even the lighter shades are looking grey, but the mid values are looking blue only. It's so confusing.
Hello from Georgia I can you teach us step by step how to do skin on portrest
Are you drawing on paper. If yes could you tell the gsm?
It’s a Strathmore mixed media sketchbook, I don’t remember the exact weight but it is quite thick perfect for watercolor and gouache!
What reference did you use?
It’s my own portrait!
Hi! I just wanted to say that your art is absolutely incredible and stunning. I also wanted to ask what did you use to blend and mix the colours on the paper to get that perfect gradient?
ada Thank you so much! All I used was water, the nice thing about gouache is it only needs water to be diluted or to blend. Its a beautiful extremely versatile medium.
What underpaint gesso u use ? Gray?
Honestly I think it is just a light wash of either the black gouache I was using or watercolor!
What paper and stretch book is it?
It is the Strathmore mixed media hardbound sketchbook, I very highly recommend!
👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿🙋🏿♂️🇦🇴
Do you have an instragram i can write to? I have some questions to a painting im doing, if you have time
Not really but hopefully I will soon! In the meantime feel free to send me an email at ohheydevin@gmail.com I’d love to talk about art with you!
