Thank you for your teaching sir I’m building something similar for my granddaughter. Your work is amazing and I’m glad to see that you have been able to share your knowledge experience
Just what I needed to see! I own a RV and want to replace the sofa bed with a twin bed with storage. I really need that extra storage! This project seems perfect for my space! Thank you for posting this video!
I came to this video for the bed while thinking about a room with a loft play floor for my son. Thank you for the simple and protik narration. Unfortunately, I do not have a workshop where I can work, I hope I can do this job. Maybe you can think of a loft floor when you have your skills and materials. Thank you for everything.
This is a great task and project well done! I am looking forward to building something like a tree house inside my daughter’s room and this will help! Thank you!
That sounds awesome! This bed was actually part of a "Forest room" we did for our little guy. You might find some more ideas here for your project. Good luck! www.householdhowto.com/post/forest-room
Was wondering why you didn't put drawers on both sides, then saw that it was placed against wall. Since you designed the top to come off, to recover that lost toy, I thought it might be a good idea to put the drawers on the back side also to use for some additional long term storage. Older kids for winter clothes, out of season sports items, or even Christmas decorations and such, but leave drawer pulls off. As to the center supports, my 4 year old granddaughter would require these for the S.H.I.T.S. bed jumping (she is not allowed to do, but insists is fun.) I love the simplicity of the design, and plan to build something like this. I will probably add a bookcase headboard to allow her to keep her books somewhere safe. As she grows I can add an outlet so she can charge her tablet and phone.
Hi Brian, this is a great design, I have been searching online for weeks trying to find a bed frame design. On your website I like that you link the images to larger images, this is terrific. Thank you for sharing!
well, I don't see myself doing that, a bit too much to know how to do from the git go, but I did learn about corner clamps and I'll be eternally grateful for that
Informative video. Unfortunately on the search page this isn't the bed pictured. It had the pneumatic hinges which is what we are looking for. The card tip is awesome though.
My wife bought me that Worx work table a few years back as a gift. I had no idea that the clamps fit into work surface that way...I had been just clamping them vertically like you would do with a normal wooden top.
Good day. New subscriber here and this video really inspired me to go with my first big DIY project.. Hehe. Can i ask if you have a list of all the measurements to be cut?
the bed looks nice but i think its still too weak one thing to add strength would be to add aluminium angle on the inside corners of the bed and bolt carriagege bolts (paited black or covered over on the outside ) through and through , doing it like that allso gives it the option of mostly flatpacking it during a move another thing that might happen is that the kid will slide out the drawers empty them abd stand inside them , sumting to solve that is make the draweropenings reach the ground and fit caster wheels under the drawers to take the load along with the rails to guide them in and out , the bottom piece can be made a tiny bit higher so it clears the floorcovering and mounted to the drawerfront , it mightve allso look nicer and give the bed a bit more of a shakerstyle look if you resessed the drawer fronts in a ittle deeper the stain is more for an adult bedroom , you couldve painted the bed in a solid colour and maibe paint it intoo a theme (pirates or racecars) gives them a little incentive to take care of it more as it makes it more special than their friends beds
This is close to the design I’ve been working on. Though I did decide to get fancy with my drawer joinery (quarter-quarter-quarter system, if you’re curious). How long did it take you?
Nice! It took me a few weekends, however I was only able to work on it for an hour or two per day. It could probably be knocked out in 3 or 4 days with more dedicated time. Joys of having kids!
After making this and having it for a few years, have there been any issues with leaving a 1/16" gap around the drawer face? Did it every swell or get difficult to operate?
One of the benefits of plywood is that it's more dimensionally stable than solid wood. I did end up selling it not too long ago during a move, but all the drawers were operating well at the time.
@@HouseholdHowToi always told my boyfriend to make like this for our rental room…he’s just so scared to spend more than our budget…so i showed him your video…we’ll be starting our project soon…thank you for showing how to do it yourself…love and support from Goa, India❤❤❤
The math is very easy. Here is the simple step-by-step approach… #1 IDENTIFY and name all the relevant variables … g = gap width d = divider piece width L = total Length #2 form the EQUATION that describes the physical situation … From left to right, we are constructing it like this…. d + g + d + g + d + g + d = L
Or we could have just jumped straight to this eqivalent equation… 4d + 3g = L #3 Now we need to SOLVE for ‘g’ (the unknown variable) start with … 4d + 3g = L
subtract 4d from both sides, to get … 3g = L - 4d divide both sides by 3 to get … g = (L - 4d) / 3 This is our answer. We could have jumped straight to this, because it is just telling us the obvious, i.e. to “Subtract the total width of all the dividers from the total length of the unit so we are left with the total gap space; then divide that by three so we have three equal measurements.”
You can also do it by lining up the pieces in a different way to the way that you did it and taking only one measurement: line up all the divider pieces at one end of the long piece and measure how much is left. Divide that by three.
Amazing job! I love how you "weathered" the face of the bed after staining.
Simple and easy to build for my rental rooms. Thank you very much. Really appreciate the build you did.
Hahaha the part of finding thing whit his head got me 😂😂
Awesome job, I'm sure he'll always remember and be grateful for all the things his daddy made and did for him.❤😎

Im building one also for R.V this type is called a Captains Bed youd freak if you new how many different types there are maybe 100
Totally ironic... I'm here for the exact same. The concept is awesome. Not sure I have the skills space or tools to accomplish the task though.
Perfect..finally found just what I visioned..
Thanks😊

You did a very good job Man. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you!
Bed looks great! Would love to see how you did the tree and ceiling!
Thank you for the comment! We didn't video tape making the tree, but we wrote a blog post about how we did it.

I like your ideas for the construction. Simple.
Man I enjoyed this! It looks great and I’m happy you sing like it too. I especially love the tree in his room so creative 🤗

Cool Calvin & Hobbes art! Oh, and you did a really great job on the bed, too! 😁
well, I don't see myself doing that, a bit too much to know how to do from the git go, but I did learn about corner clamps and I'll be eternally grateful for that
Nice and simple build. Thanks! You seem to be using the only tool I have at my disposal! That’s a refreshing change from other guides 😂

Thanks for the video. I’ve been looking for something simple like this. I’m interested in the plans. I didn’t find them available on your website.
Nice job
Amazing!
Good day. New subscriber here and this video really inspired me to go with my first big DIY project.. Hehe.
Can i ask if you have a list of all the measurements to be cut?
Thanks for the how to video! Do you know the dimensions of the drawers or how deep they went into the frame?
The acronym alone made me choke on my drink and spontaneously hit the like button
Hey good job, do you have some dimensions you can share? I know twin bed is standard, bht looking for height and also draw dimensions. Thanks
I want to try this, would it be possible to get plans for a 3/4 bed
Do you think that you could stack these for a lofted bed for a teenager?
I need this for a full size....
Make the exact same thing, but 54 inches wide instead of 40. They're the same length.
the bed looks nice but i think its still too weak
one thing to add strength would be to add aluminium angle on the inside corners of the bed and bolt carriagege bolts (paited black or covered over on the outside ) through and through , doing it like that allso gives it the option of mostly flatpacking it during a move
another thing that might happen is that the kid will slide out the drawers empty them abd stand inside them , sumting to solve that is make the draweropenings reach the ground and fit caster wheels under the drawers to take the load along with the rails to guide them in and out , the bottom piece can be made a tiny bit higher so it clears the floorcovering and mounted to the drawerfront , it mightve allso look nicer and give the bed a bit more of a shakerstyle look if you resessed the drawer fronts in a ittle deeper
the stain is more for an adult bedroom , you couldve painted the bed in a solid colour and maibe paint it intoo a theme (pirates or racecars) gives them a little incentive to take care of it more as it makes it more special than their friends beds
😂 spontaneous High Intensity Toddler Situations 😂 that's a good one
Which brand are you using for 90 degree corner clamps?
Gracias por el video saludos
Spontaneous high intensity toddler situations. Lol
I caught that too😂 💩
"He's crazy"...with a 4 and 5 year old...i feel that 😅
Thanks ed Sheeran

Do you have measurements that you used?
Cool dad
You think I’d have a question about woodworking but where did you get that Calvin & Hobbes art?
Wondering the same thing!
My wife found it on Etsy. Calvin & Hobbes stuff is so hard to find!
I didnt know Ed Sheeran has a youtube video
Kidding aside, this is freaking great! ❤ ive been wanting to DIY my own bed but dont know where to start
💀
Hahaha thanks for watching. I'll be posting another similar build soon.
@@HouseholdHowTo Cool, I'll be waiting for that!

What would you say the total cost of the project was?
"your a good pops!"

The math is very easy. Here is the simple step-by-step approach…
#1 IDENTIFY and name all the relevant variables …
g = gap width
d = divider piece width
L = total Length
#2 form the EQUATION that describes the physical situation …
From left to right, we are constructing it like this….
d + g + d + g + d + g + d = L
Or we could have just jumped straight to this eqivalent equation…
4d + 3g = L
#3 Now we need to SOLVE for ‘g’ (the unknown variable)
start with …
4d + 3g = L
subtract 4d from both sides, to get …
3g = L - 4d
divide both sides by 3 to get …
g = (L - 4d) / 3
This is our answer.

Can you be my dad 😂
why do people screw up good videos with annoying awful music that sucks
