@@ChatookaMusicit’s really not that bad, most of the time the hands are good, with some mistakes which is just like the animation for the rest of the video because it’s basically a “prototype”

The twin lost because he started thinking, he couldn’t master his mind, and he didn’t stay the course. It’s poetic, he let the discovery of his father’s defeat distract him.
@@sinfinite7516 I think he just wanted to point out, that he would have only won, if he was dumb. Because not thinking and staying on course are actually two very bad things to do for a leader.
In the professional sport of Rock, Paper, Scissors, they actually have names for the combos. Years ago, a world champion won his title with 3 rocks in a row. They call that combo AVALANCHE.
The visual effects and ai combination is seriously impressive, but a lot of credit has to be given to Niko and Dean for watching anime enough to know the dramatic movements and expressions that really sell this piece. This was amazing. Edit: An alarming amount of people that responded to this seemed to have missed the point entirely. I know I phrased it in a way that could be misconstrued, but I didn't mean credit needed to be given to the Corridor crew for watching anime alone. I meant that credit needed to be given to them for having the ability to pick out the specific parts of anime that make it feel "anime". There are obvious differences between Japanese animation and animation in different countries, and only animators and visual artists appreciate and can replicate the nuance behind the technique. Some of you seem to think this is easy and obvious, which is silly. If you believe it's that easy, go ahead and make your own short, or try to list every technique used in animation to accomplish the anime look and timing. All you have to do is watch the corridor crew video behind the scenes for this shoot to understand the insane amount of thought that went behind every single shot in this skit. It's certainly not as easy as just sitting there and watching anime.
@@nathansaunders943 Well they are visual effects artists after all. You can't just take any anime watcher and ask them to act out the same motions with the timing, cinematography, and motions as an anime character. Only people who are intensely passionate and have a discerning eye for visual art could do that.
This is actually brilliantly written, he actually loses once a thought or strategy enters his mind just as he predicted; and probably would’ve won if he had just kept throwing stone.
Now, as an artist, I do not enjoy the way AI is being used today, but this, I actually really love. And I saw the video on how this was done, and what I love is that they aren’t allowing ai to take over the whole process, while it’s one of the main tools, its not the only tool that’s being used to make this type of creativity. There is still a lot of hard work and dedication and style that these creators are putting in to make this appealing while ai is being used only as a tool. With this amount of effort and a bit of ai to create something honestly awesome , how can you not call this art?❤️
artists have to really get their head out of their gatekeeping asses and realise that ai is not the issue. big companies using new technologies to abusively squeeze money out is not new. and attacking ai only protects those big companies
@@group555_I see what you mean, and I don’t have any issues with AI, far from it actually. I just hate the way society is deciding to use it, because AI has many benefits to be used for like being used for working on creative projects like this and much more beyond that, but some will decide to belittle that tool down to create disadvantages, like for art some will just easily make ai images and try to call it their art, not only that but people have also been using it to cheat in school, make fake news, and even take over social media. Now I know talking about this isn’t gonna change anything about what people do with it, all I’m saying with ai, it has so many useful functions, but so many decide to make those functions less enjoyable to use.
Time to overthink a silly UA-cam video! Actually the father DID pick an heir. It's clear Clean Shaven was set to sit on the throne. Problem is, the Father overdid it. Having another living kid with a very strong claim was a great recipe for a civil war so he made a move to deal with the problem. Permanently. Turned out to be a bad idea.
I think he did appoint an heir. When the bearded brother found out, he hatched a plan to challenge his father to Rock Paper Cross-Blades before the announcement was made public
It's hilarious how instead of turning Jankenpon into some super powered Shounen anime fighting technique they made it just as simple as IRL, yet the characters all overreact to it and make it a huge deal. Truly genius.
Can we stop for a minute to acknowledge how Dean's character only loses after he let's thought and strategy enter his mind? Nico's character got inside his head and instead of sticking to his guns, Dean took a strategy that Nico could see coming from a mile away. Brilliant and consistent writing. We need 3 seasons and a movie.
It's interesting to see how the improved ML method they used in the sequel fixed the frame variance issue but completely broke the mouth syncing. Hopefully the third installment will have the best of both ML methods
at the beginning the one character says his brother is going to predict his thoughts and move so he decides to not think about it. But when he sees his father got defeated using cross blades he starts thinking about what his brother has planned and uses paper to beat it. But just as he has predicted correctly his brother is able to predict that exactly and counters paper with crossblades. 10/10 writing
I like how in one sequence we see that the rock, paper, and scissors represent three classes of society: the rock representing workers, the paper representing writers and thinkers, and scissors representing warriors. *Edit: I’m referring to 3:47
I don't understand. Would you care to explain? Edit: OH MY GOD THAT WAS SO SUBTLE AND CLEVER, I usually pick up on those things really easily but that completely flew under the radar. that's cool af
I once had to play rock paper scissors with my brother to decide who would drive our stranded friends an hour and a half home, when they went to leave our place around midnight and their car broke down. We played best 2 out of 3 and must have tied 5 times. It was the most intense rock paper scissors game of my entire life. *Edit:* I won!
I remember reading the Manga back in 2012 and was blown away! The fact we're finally seeing this amazing piece of work animated for the first time is CRAZY!
I didn't catch wind of the manga until 2013. I'm excited for the Best 2 Out Of 3 arc, man! That's where they use every strategy they've developed throughout the years. I want to say more, but it'd spoil what happens.
I agree. The manga was crazy! The arc where the brother trains under fire breath man sensei was truly an amazing sequence. I just wonder how they’ll animate it.
Nah, the manga was better. These clowns don’t understand the true heart behind rock, paper, crossed blades. I doubt they will do the Avalanche arc justice
I hope they make this a actual series…I love this story even if it’s overdramatic. It’s the right kind of overdramatic! It’s literally about rock, Paper, Scissors! (Cross-Blades)
Everyone is talking about how amazing the animation and scriptwriting is while I'm here quivering at the thought of how much processing and GPU overload it would have taken to render this whole video
Actually, the "evil" twin brother would be a better ruler. He had a strategy and was quite cunning and smart. While the other had no plan at all, and his main strategy was just to not think and never change his plan. Actually he might not even be evil, because at 4:30 he says "he challenged me" implying that his father actually wanted to get rid of him. As a ruler, he definitely might be a better fit. Smart and with Strategy to govern his land, cunning enough to play in the diplomatic world, and not distracted by art and music like his brother.
@@filiformis it’s yet to be seen if he enacted it. Infact it’s implied that he didn’t start this at all, as the OP mentions it’s the father who engaged the battle initially. Him having to face his brother after his fathers demise is only a fate that he could not have controlled.
well the castle looks very different when the white brother is ruleing. and when the evil one is at rule the whole kindom is celebrating in a big party
If your going to use cross blades as their lingo for scissors. Than yould have gone fully with the old timey lingo and have the game they played be called STONE, PARCHMENT, CROSSBLADES.
The fact that "Holy Combat" is Rock Paper Scissors not only makes me laugh, it also brings back my strategistic schoolboy days over who gets first pick.
It’s like all the corridor anime cut scenes over the years… but like a movie. 120 shots done by a team of 3. Bravo! This’ll be milestone in creative technology.
The "did he follow me into the Archives?!" line implying that there is an entire ancient archive of Rock, Paper, Crossed Blades technique had me laughing so hard.
Can definitely see the AI, but it is so cool to see what you guys were able to accomplish with these AI tools only having been available for a short amount of time
@@Kryto_Gaming Well yeah, if we are talking about the animation, the added effects were cool, but that's just a tiny fraction of the video, and nothing groundbreaking.

No crossed swords can kill the stones we stack as our kingdom is immortal. The Stone is the security to live Paper: The will of the people, taken form. With the strike of our pen and the wave of our flag, claim to a kingdom is sealed. Barter and bargain is the lifeblood of our kingdom, and the paper is the law that drives our people to glory. The paper is the right to rule. Crossed Blades: Without wall and garrison, the paper holds no sway. We must defend our words with our own might, exert our strength against those who undermine, and cut the strings of those who manipulate word against our countrymen. The Crossed Blades is order to law. By these three, holy combat is maintained in perfect balance. Remember this, young ones: One must never bring about the unholy hands; Wizard and Dragon. They will surely bring doom to your throne... (Introduction to Spock and Lizard)
When you see the animation twice you have more context, the kingdom is at starvation and if you see the decision of the father that mean he was a militaristic leader and the beardless brother wanted to follow his father footsteps as he managed the garrisons while the antagonistic brother wanted to upgrade the infrastructure and was so simple to follow that path that the beardles brother didn't need to think much about it to succeed, but at the moment of change when a leader has to choose wisely a path different than the usual one choose military while the other choose pen and paper.

Honestly, the finale is hilariously good. The clean-shaven twin lost in the end because he wasn't dedicated to his tactic of staying formless, while his brother kept to the plan he had the entire time (to switch to crossed-swords once the first twin learned how his father died). As an animator, I think about AI a lot. I disagree with the sentiment that it will make our jobs easier, or that it will put the power of creation in the hands of the common person. It's nowhere near the point where it can generate consistent, appealing, expressive animation, but when that does happen, every animation you see will look the same. People will pay money to go see films where AI has had a large hand, and the skills of the average animator will dwindle until no more than a few words/keyframes are required to make something that looks 'good.' People will look back at old films, cartoons, video-games, and other creations and they will wish AI had never left it's infancy, but in their hearts they will not care. Nor will the greedy suits that push this slop.
I see it no different as every single other art tool that`s come into the mainstream in the last few decades. Detachable cameras, green screen, color correction, layers, digital pens, tablets, image enhancements, fill tools, layer tools, cgi, CG assests, lghting generators, so on and so fourth... To say something like Art is going to die because of AI is as stupid as saying photography is dead because Photoshop exists, or anime is dead because CGI exists, or character design is dead because AI exists... Ai is a tool, it`s a tool that you can use to build up many steps of a process, and work on top of it. If you think that AI art means that now everyones going to simply generate works and not move fowards that stupid and naive.. When CGI started, my god was it shit. It was infinitely easire then 2D animation but it was shit, now we have a lot of CGI trash yes... but we also have a ton of amazingly creative and awesome movies, tv shows, videos games, etc that implement CGI and combine it with the principles of animation and art and painting and drawing, etc to create really cool and unique things. When photoshop started to be big yes everyone was saying everythings photoshoped, but it`s also allowed so many artists to use it`s tools to make a premise or a reference into amazingly unimaginably epic scenes, characters, etc. When 3D games began yes, they all looked really shit, but so many games took the technologies we know and added other art forms to make some truly epic and stylised master pieces... People think AI is the death of Art because it`s new and everyones scared by new... but it`s just a tool like everything else, and if you don`t see it`s usefulness, that`s not a issue of AI lacking creativity, it`s an issue of you lacking creative implementation as an artist. You can use AI to save so much time with so many things, and then have all that extra time to take your skills as an artist, as an animator to the next level and make amazing things.. If you think AI is just replacing art, instead of being a tool, you`re not more of an artist then AI, because it means you can`t implement creativity into new tools and instead you want to simply continue repeating and recreating the styles and animations that have come before..
@@paulvictor7489 I appreciate your detailed response. Not saying it will be the death of art, but if it takes off like I think it will, there will be much fewer jobs for animators and artists (and fewer big-budget movies with hand-created art). Similar to the transition from 2D to 3D. Out of curiosity, are you an animator yourself?
At the moment, animators, artists and vfx artists are being disgustingly overworked, underpayed and even though everyone wants to be one, most people don't have the patience so it's not nearly as saturated of a field as people make it out to be. I know you're worried about so many people losing their job, but where AI is not and the direction it's taking adding in the fact that with everything that becomes big laws and policies will also come too and AI will likely be more and more honed to be a tool. I see it more as an advantage for the currently and future working artists to just have better quality of life and not like it's going to replace their jobs.@@pingaswingas1 Think of it this way.... we can so insanely easily make machiens that can replace every employee at Mcdonalds right now, but we don't. We could super easily replace every restaurant with automated orders, but we don't, and we could replace every single car with self driving cars and all be getting to work at a quarter the speed, but none of those thngs will happen for years and years to come because at the end of the day, all these technologies are just that, technologies, and humans develope and change all the time, art changes, style changes, everything changes, AI can do a lot but it's stagnent, it cannot be repaced by humans because it does not have a will like humans have. So no I don't think a bunch of artists and animators are going to go starving because of AI UNLESS we have an audience accept the stale, repetive and uncreative art forms of television forever. As long as people want new things or nostalgic things, or creative things, AI will never just replace all the jobs and there will still be a plethera if not more jobs in these fields due to the helpful tools availible. On top of this, keep in mind that a couple decades ago TV, Video games and movies were considered more for children, or lazy idiots... Nowadays theres a way llarger audience, and it's still increasing. With the obvious innevitable fatigue of short form content from tiktok that is obviouslyl already happening to a lot of people theres a very obvious demand for art to return. You can see it in Disneys movies lately, Triple A video games, tv shows and so on. So if anything this automated art you fear is going to be the very thing that will boom the industry of creative human made art bigger then it's been in sometime. So try to stop being so afraid and learn to utilize AI into your own work to make amazing, creative animations, that just use yet another new and innovated tool.

Yeah! Felt the same when I watched the dodgeball game in HunterxHunter 2011...A dodgeball game.. who would of thought?😂 The anime style has the ability to turn epic any mundane occurrence. You gotta love it.
The shading that happens on the clothing and the characters is actually insane. It feels like every shot is a money shot because you usually only get a few minutes of shading and lighting like that in an anime show/movie. The same goes for the "animation", everything feels smooth but it does feel like its animated. I understand that consistency is probably one of the harder things to do but after seeing the shot @5:13, it made me realize this is very possible and is gonna be even better in the near future. Epic video u weebs :)
If they'd known about flow frames, they could have picked out some keyfamrs from their SD generations, then had flowflames make the tweens (sticking to the usual 12 fps for anime, of course). This would have preserved detail. They should have also switched to static images for some of the shots, and had movement ONLY when required. Using 2 seconds of video for someone standing still isn't how anime works. That's a .jpeg of goku till he nods.
@@MeepChangeling well yes, and no, depends on what youre trying to do i guess. The style of anime is heavily influenced by the limitations of hand animation, which was explained in the video as well. What you are saying is true if the goal was to "replicate japanese anime as faithfully as possible", but i doubt that was the case. Pretty sure they would do what you mentioned and dub the whole thing Japanese if it was. I think they were just trying to experiment with this crazy cutting edge tool and workflow. If Japanese artists back then werent limited by the technology, would they still use still images, flat/static backgrounds, minimal detail, etc? Probably not, but you never know.

The shading style is a result of stealing tens of thousands of frames from artists that worked on Vampire Hunter D. Corridor Digital didn't shade jack shit, they trained an algorithm to copy other artists work. The tech is definitely impressive, but understand the credit should go to the original artists that spent years developing their style, not some dudes plugging shit into an algorithm
So here’s my interpretation for the End scenes. The “Good” Prince (Les call him dat), leaves battered and bruised from the Holy duel from before. He then gets exiled or leaves the capital or even the country via a ship. We then see a shot of the city or a town overlooking, what I believe is the “Castle/Cathedral”. This shot shows the “Downfall” of the kingdom. But here is where i find myself at a dilemma, the shot of the dark streets 6:08 is followed by what I assume is the Good prince, looking exhausted (almost as if he was in a battle) and if you look closely, the street has 2 individuals that loom ominously on the center of the shot. I argue that, The “Evil” Prince sent assassins to eliminate his brother, and I know it contradicts my claim that 6:08 shows the consequences of the evil prince’s governance (“Downfall”), meaning that the shot takes place in an entirely different country as Good Prince could not have been near the Cathedral/Castle. Continuing, we get a shot that shows the Good Prince begging for money (it doesn’t say money, but lets assume that it does), he probably lost all his belongings or fortune from the battle and what was left was probably used up on the ship he left with. There is then a major event on 6:15 , by the looks of it, Good prince is undergoing initiation from an organization that I would call as the “Sect of Crossblades”. Previous shot did show a man standing dominantly in front of Good Prince. (This could be the event when he first got invited to the sect.) The next shot is a bit of a problem, it shows “Someone” forging “crossblades?” This individual could not have been Good prince (or at least not the initiated Good prince),(why? He doesn’t have the forehead cross) this couldn’t have been Evil Prince, as why would he do this? The thematic implication of the individual forging the cross blades makes me believe that it could only have been Good prince, Perhaps before his initiation. The forging might even be the challenge required to be accepted on the Sect. Moving on, we get a shot of the Good prince, staring towards the “Castle/Cathedral”, perhaps planning his eventual return/Revenge. On 6:26, we get a ballroom/party shot, most certainly held for the elites, this could imply the lavish way Evil prince live out his days as the new monarch. Evil prince dances with a noble, (maybe future/present consort queen), but he looks troubled, looking directly towards us, we then get an explanation for his expression. the Good Prince is present and reveals his identity, most probably attracting the attention of other nobles within the party. What happens after is left for our speculation, personally I think good prince will challenge him in another round of Holy duel, this time on front of all the elites too see. I’m hoping they make a sequel, I can’t wait for my interpretation to be debunked lol. (Apologies for any grammatical error present within this overly simplified interpretation, English ain’t my native language😅)
I mean, obviously the manga was better, but its nice to see an animated adaptation that sticks true to its roots. The scene-for-scene reveal of Fathers' crossed blades is exactly the same as pages 34 and 35 of Volume III. Truly amazing work.
Just want to leave my favorite scenes here as this entire video was unbelievable! Dean at 3:09, 4:02 with Niko followed by Dean's revelation (the low piano note with the dark chorus omg!) Dean's resolve at 5:12 to the final throw down (the screams, the switch to black & white, the music, the pan out of the cathedral) God damn this was beautiful 😭 the entire outro was flawless

Avalanche Time!!!!!!
Why? Wouldn’t rock slide make more sense?
Also there was a world champion who had nicknamed himself "The Rock". Defeating him should have been trivial.

Plot twist: The "evil" brother is actually good at governing and did right by the kingdom but always seems antagonistic...
That's the vibe I was getting too. Both brothers would be equally good rulers, as they're equal in everything else too.
@@Cyberguy64 Yeah, but both con centrate on different ways of ruling, the antagonistic brother was infrastructure (rock) while the father and the other brother on military (scissors), but that did not mean they could only manage one side.
or you just really like Niko's character and we're trying to justify it. lol🙂
Actually it seems far deeper.
By 4:30 he say "he challenged me" implying that the Father is actually the one wanting to get rid of him. So he wasn't even the evil twin in the first place, we just think he is evil because of his looks (black vs white) and because we think he killed his father.
Also, the entire plan of the good twin was to not think and never change his course. Making him a far worse ruler.
As a ruler, the "evil" twin definitely is a better fit. Smart and with Strategy to govern his land, cunning enough to play in the diplomatic world, and not distracted by art and music like his brother.

I see it more as an advantage for the currently and future working artists to just have better quality of life and not like it's going to replace their jobs.@@pingaswingas1
Think of it this way.... we can so insanely easily make machiens that can replace every employee at Mcdonalds right now, but we don't.
@@paulvictor7489 You gotta chill, bro. Myself and people I know use AI to draft voices or concept art. I asked if you were an animator so I could explain it in animation terms. The stuff you're saying doesn't really have a lot of depth to it. Seriously wondering if you used chat GPT to type this lol.
No, those very assumptions are what irratate me the most. I admit my reply was bad, it was really late, and I was very tired from work and as I reread it I am honestly more disgusted by myself then anything. But still asking me if ChatGpt wrote it is so irratating. Everyone acts like everything ChatGpt, AiARt, AiAnimation now.

This was amazing! 😂
Big fan of your shorts bro
(This could be the event when he first got invited to the sect.)
The next shot is a bit of a problem, it shows “Someone” forging “crossblades?”
This individual could not have been Good prince (or at least not the initiated Good prince),(why?
