I have an autographed copy of his album. He was doing a personal appearance at a local store near where I lived and if you bought the album, you’re able to go up and meet him and get it autographed I cherish that day.

Mr. Prinze represents a common, but rarely mentioned, effect that celebrity can have on a person. He seemed to have it “all together”, to be balanced, well prepared, and ready, for the stardom that was sure to come. Sadly, he wasn’t. He was my first crush in the 70s. I might have been 13 when "Chico and the Man" was on, but he was so cute and had the best hair 🤭 In my home, we never were taught who was this or that....every one was just a person. I don't think I even had an understanding of what those jokes were about, and why, until I was older. I remember crying when he died and never understood that kind of pressure then. It's a shame, too. He was hilarious! Gone way too soon!

I do remember Freddie very well and was really sad when he died. I was a teenager and found him to be a hero as young hispanic entertainers, much less comedians, were not common at all. I do have his mother's book, very heartfelt, and I do have his album, " Looking Good" still. He came at the right time for me but left too soon. I had no idea how much inner turmoil he was going through, he was still growing up to be honest. At 22, with all that fame, it was so easy to lose yourself in the vane and fickle world of Hollywood. I watched your entire post here and I was amazed that you showed the newspaper headline of Freddie's death from a newspaper called "The Bakersfield Californian." That is my hometown and I was a paperboy(when they used to have those), when all this occurred ! I delivered that newspaper on my paper route if you can believe it, as well as the one when Elvis died, later that same year ! Its a small world indeed. Nevertheless, I've remained a Freddie Prinze fan ever since. May he rest in peace, if he only knew how many loved him or just liked him, if only knowing that, he could still be here.

I watched Chico and the Man every week. I remember Tony Orlando talking about their substance abuse issues and going to see Freddie at the hospital. He gave some disturbing detail about seeing Freddie after he'd shot himself. You can't help thinking of many other comics who flamed out early.
I knew about Freddie Prinze Jr. before I knew of Freddie Prinze Sr. When I found out about him and how he passed on, I was really sad that he didn't get the chance to grow up with his father. You can certainly see where Jr.'s acting talent came from, and I would have loved to see where Sr.'s talent would have landed him, had he lived. It's just incredibly heartbreaking that things ended the way they did.

Freddie Prinze was one of my earliest exposures to stand up comedy as a kid, it became a lifetime love and I actually wanted to be a stand up comic in Middle School. He was so funny, so vibrant, I watched Chico and the Man on TV and remember when I heard of his death. It was devastating, I absolutely loved him. But, I can tell his son that I always think about his comedy and not his death. It is only when I see it brought up that I think about the tragedy. He remains one of the funniest people I have ever seen. RIP Freddie, you are STILL missed.

This was my first introduction to "life end" i was 6 or 7 and the adults were walking around whispering being upset.. mainly that he'd left behind a baby boy. That got to me as i grew up without a dad because a Vietnam a couple years earlier so i was very very sad for the child. I've kept an eye on freddy prinze jr's career throught life because of this defining moment and he seems to be doing awesome good for him. An accident huh i hadn't heard that before, great vid!

I was able to see a live taping of Chico and The Man ,my friend and I were in the very front row as she was in a she was in a wheelchair,so we were basically only a few feet from Freddy wheh the show was being taped ,I’m a retired nurse I told my friend that he was nit acting normal he seemed high ,I’d lerarned to recognize sings and Symptoms of it working in the e r. ,month later he wouid take his life,very very tragic .

I remember him being on The Tony Orlando show a few times. I thought he was very funny and it really made me sad the day he took his life. I was only 10 when he died but I remember it plain as day. Rest in peace Freddie.

I remember Freddie hosting sneak previews of Saturday Morning Cartoons. I remember when he died that the channel that I was watching interrupted program that I was watching during prime time as breaking news. I was 9 years old.

I loved Freddie Prinze . He was very funny and handsome. I am sorry for all the pressure he went through. But that is what Hollywood does to these young talented people. All they see is “ cha Ching”$$$$$. They don’t realize that since they’re so young and inexperienced they are being taken advantage of.

Freddie was amazing. At 18 he was the funniest guy on earth. Look up his appearances on Johnny Carson.

Finding out how over the top arrogant and self centered he was helps so much in not feeling sorry for him. How sick and despicable he was rather than grateful and appreciative as he obviously should have been. Never the less it always plays out the same.....after someone dies all the REAL bad stuff magically disappears and they become a saint worthy of canonization.

Easy, both screwed their lives because of drug addiction. One shot his brains off, the other died alone from a drug overdose, basically mimicking his boyhood idol John Belushi.

I wasn't accepted by people while growing up just because I was from the wrong state. You know Mass to Flo. So I can relate. I have no friends from school. That is tough growing up with no friends.
I was able to see a live taping of Chico and The Man ,my friend and I were in the very front row as she was in a she was in a wheelchair,so we were basically only a few feet from Freddy wheh the show was being taped ,I’m a retired nurse I told my friend that he was nit acting normal he seemed high ,I’d lerarned to recognize sings and Symptoms of it working in the e r. ,month later he wouid take his life,very very tragic .

We kids watched what our father watched. We could watch or if not our parents would find a piece of work for us or we could go to bed even earlier than usual. This is why we're experts on the NFL. There are many programs I've never seen.

I wasnt impressed with him. But very sad when i heard he took his life. I didn’t care or think David Brenner was funny. Just me, and I'm sure many did. Saw David, in-person, when he was with Sonny & Cher. Just my opinion... everyone.
