Nobody has ever fallen down the plunge on Jurassic Park, either in Florida or in Hollywood, and if they did, there would be no way that they’re living. There have only been a couple of incidents, none of them major, and there’d be no way that something as big as a guy falling down the final plunge on the ride would stay out of the news. Nice try, kid.
The ride is now a shadow of its former self in Hollywood. most of the outdoor animatronics barely work. the Dilophosaurus before you ascend don't even move like in this video. one of them has a permanent slack jawed look and don't come up as fast anymore.

The Jurassic Park Collection as a counter argument: Pirates of the Caribbean is almost 50 years old and their animatronics work perfectly...then again the yeti at expedition everest in WDW is now just a hunk of metal and fur acting as a disco ball, and that ride is only 8 years old. I guess one of the reasons they don't go around to fixing them fully is of course money. not to mention they're outside in the elements making them faster to break down and of course more money so they just resorted to fixing them enough to where they move. I also remember watching another making of the ride where the designers negotiated that the ride should be indoors to save the animatronics from the elements but the studio thought it would be more realistic to have them outside...I guess that decision bit em in the butt.

The Jurassic Collection I wouldn't agree about the "Cares more about their guest." Disney's prices are set way above standards compared to what they have. Parks like Busch Gardens have amazing roller coasters that travel at high speeds and heights, and their tickets are at the least $99. They've had many incidents like the one where the guy was killed by the monorail. Most people say, "Oh, that was the climbers fault!" But if Disney had put more guards in the area and had higher protection, that would've never happened. At Universal to get into City Walk you need to pass through a thorough check, also to get onto any roller coaster. I haven't had a pleasant experience at Disney, since I found it a waste of money. I don't mean to start a war, I just like to give my opinion about topics like this. I have a problem with explaining my point ._.
This is just a rumor, so I have no proof that this is even being planned, but I have heard rumors that Universal may get the people who made the new Kong animatronic in Skull Island: Reign of Kong to make new animatronics for River Adventure. Again, it's just a rumor, but it'd be really cool if they did it
Now if only they'd give Jurassic Park a complete refurbishment, perhaps some up-to-date and properly functioning animatronics - instead of cutting corners like with the new crappy Parasaur in Hadrosaur cove - this would be the coolest ride ever.
I 100% agree. they should make the animatronic dinosaurs that were made for the rides at Universal Studios in Hollywood in California and in Orlando in Florida look exactly just like the more realistic animatronic dinosaurs that were made for the films, including the baby velociraptor eggs hatching in the lab of the visitor center, and the triceratops of the Triceratops Encounter trail, except the triceratops would be standing all the way up and not laying down. they should've did that in the first place from the start the begin with. as a matter of fact, the people of Stan Winston Studios should've provided the animatronic dinosaurs for Jurassic Park The Ride before the ride was opened at Universal Studios in Hollywood on June 21st of 1996 and in Orlando in Florida on May 28th of 1999!

I recently went here with my school and I was overjoyed to finally ride this (it was my first visit) I was disappointed to see that the jeep on the wall does not fall down like I have seen in videos anymore, and idk if it is the one in Orlando or if this part doesn't work either but there are no velociraptors that come from the sides or ceiling when going up the last hill. Just a shadow I presume is projected. Another little detail I liked at the end was after the dilophosaurus sprays you on the left there is the Barbasol shaving cream can from the first movie. Not hard to spot, kinda out in the open, but still cool
Florida doesn't have the car I believe I know for sure it doesn't have the velociraptors that come out from the ceiling instead they have the dilophasours shooting the water at you

The effort shone through on this ride. It will forever be engrained in my memory as the best ride I have ever been on. So cleverly thought out. The t-Rex drop at the end was utterly incredible. I was 9, I had no idea it was going to happen. I had a shear moment of terror when I realised we weren’t stopping and that t-Rex was coming down at us. I genuinely could only see a dead end. My childhood mind thought it was real! Then the drop! Words can’t describe how utterly jaw dropping this ride was! I was buzzing for weeks after just talking about it. And I still feel that buzz now and I’m 24. I hope this ride goes down in history
I used to work at Universal Studios Hollywood and I miss it there so much! I was a ride operator on Transformers and though that was my turf and I loved it, my favorite ride in the whole park was JP! Nothing like a T-Rex roaring in your face!
Awesome! I've never met anyone who actually worked there! But thankfully all the operators from the JP ride where super friendly, they even gave me a tour through the control room 😁
Did the ride really look so much better in 1997? I mean I've seen both 97 and recent videos and honestly it still looks pretty much the same except for the falling jeep and slightly slowed down animatronics( and the decor in general). You can't but help admire the hard work of all the people designing the ride. Its so amazingly well done.
Love this ride. Go on it, multiple times, whenever I go on vacation to Florida. Haven't been on the other one, but from videos I've seen, the one in Florida has a bigger and cooler looking T-Rex.
But just think on the amount of money Universal makes every single day in entry tickets... it's an investment to try to have everything as good as possible in my opinion

I rode on both the Hollywood and Orlando one!!! It was fun! You get wet, see dinosaurs, and it was way too loud :/ But there was no way to not make your PINGAS feel anything at the drop. I reccommend riding it at Universal or it might randomly be removed without a trace!
They made some big mistakes in general concept of this ride. It never should have been a boat ride. It caused the animatronics to break down over time and made it harder to repair. They should have made this an indoor dark ride. The thing is, there aren't any boats in the film so it really makes very little sense for the ride to be a river tour.
I heard that the ride was supposed to be base of a scene that was taken out from the movie. In the scene the two kids and the adult were in a raft in the river while being chase by a T-rex.

Been stuck and then evacuated off the Florida Version. Got stuck about 15% up the big lift hill into the show building. Best part was getting to see the backstage area. Extra boats, unpainted Raptors and Dilophosaurus. Loved it.
God I hope they don't remove the ride....I never actually rode on it, but I want my little brothers to, they LOVE dinosaurs! This would truly make them happy and I'll be happy seeing them like that :(:

Cool ride! I however don't get it why T-Rex's body can be seen hanging on top. Legs are clearly off the ground. It spoils the illusion of it being on ground and actually scaring you. It'd be much better to hide the body portion and feature the head and maybe front limbs only

They say that the drop here is the steepest tallest and fastest here, but JP's drop feels smoother than Splash Mountain over at Disney to me? :/ I'm pretty sure SM came before JP.

I remember being a kid waiting eagerly for the day I could ride this. When I finally did it was nothing but disappointment since by the time I kept to ride it, it was already out of date. Really hope Jurassic World does well enough that they want to rework this.

Instead of completely revamping the ride I think that they should either fix, or replace the dinosaurs with newer and better technology. The type of robot base they use is now out of date, and also is very worn down. I don't think putting on new skin and fog to cover it up will work anymore.

Man Jurassic park the ride is no doubt awesome... but honestly this is one ride that doesn't need upgrades anymore... it had its time, it was epic but it's time to modernize it and completely re-do it. Theme it all out for the new movies. Freaking Disney is smart, the day after they got the rights to Star Wars they announced a Star Wars land in Disneyland. Why is universal waiting so long to convert this to Jurassic world, close it for a year or two and do the whole Shabang. Lines for a Jurassic world ride would be out the ride, up Star way, out on the 101.... Get with it universal.

First of all the dinosaurs don't look good anymore. Second Universal is stupid to just keep a waterproof skin design locked away.

Sorry to nitpick, but Stan Winston created the t-rex. One of the greatest, if not the greatest special FX and creature designer of all time.

They say that the drop here is the steepest tallest and fastest here, but JP's drop feels smoother than Splash Mountain over at Disney to me? :/ I'm pretty sure SM came before JP.
Yeah the drop had to be remade since it was too steep and people kept standing up to touch the t-rex, so they made it less vertical
The Jurassic Collection Oh. Ok. That makes sense. I also realized that the drop is a lot farther from the actual T-Rex prop because I remember it was quite a few feet away, but in the video it seemed only like 3 feet away? 0.o

If they patented it, there is no benefit of keeping the recipe secret because it's disclosed to the public. Maybe they keep it as a trade secret, that makes more sense

I remember being a kid waiting eagerly for the day I could ride this.
When I finally did it was nothing but disappointment since by the time I kept to ride it, it was already out of date.
Really hope Jurassic World does well enough that they want to rework this.
jawmuncher I still think it's a cute ride... but not Universal Studios cute any more, I does look dated and it's mostly one of those rides ppl get in to sit and get refreshed.

+3Musketeers Cinema Well now it just has fog covering up everything they didn't fix, the car doesn't fall, and the dinosaurs have had a lot of wear and tear.
That really doesn't bother me. It has always been my favorite theme park ride. I believe it still has its magic and adventure feel
Instead of completely revamping the ride I think that they should either fix, or replace the dinosaurs with newer and better technology. The type of robot base they use is now out of date, and also is very worn down. I don't think putting on new skin and fog to cover it up will work anymore.
Wazowski Kachowski they can fix the dinosaurs make new fog machines and fix the car to move but they can’t redo it it’s a classic

Man Jurassic park the ride is no doubt awesome... but honestly this is one ride that doesn't need upgrades anymore... it had its time, it was epic but it's time to modernize it and completely re-do it. Theme it all out for the new movies. Freaking Disney is smart, the day after they got the rights to Star Wars they announced a Star Wars land in Disneyland.
Why is universal waiting so long to convert this to Jurassic world, close it for a year or two and do the whole Shabang. Lines for a Jurassic world ride would be out the ride, up Star way, out on the 101....

I couldn't agree more with you, however unlike Disney, Universal are lazy af, as long as something kinda sorta works they will not do ANYTHING to it... I mean the HUGE are where the sick triceratops where has been abandoned for over 10 years!! you would think that with the rising popularity of Jurassic World they would consider adding something to the area right? WRONG! They decided to shrink the JP area in order to open a new King Kong ride for a movie that was a complete box office flop

Guys you need to stop for a uprgrade. seriously stop. they cant just closed the ride and do a uprgade. plus it a long time ago.the people who make it are prob dead or alive. but still. you cant closed the ride and just fix it. that be unfair for people who never ride it before.It sucks they dont use animetronic now those days.
