Really enjoyed this video! I think it's easy for people to look at pet UA-camrs and think they're perfect, but the truth is everybody makes mistakes. The story about Creampuff reminded me of what happened to Piper last week. I'm so glad neither of them got injured because of our silly mistakes.
Hello there! 💖 In this video, I'll talk about the biggest mistakes that I've made over the years of owning hamsters. 🐹 (I'm sure I've made other mistakes too, but these were the ones that came to mind to talk about.) No pet owner is perfect and everyone makes mistakes in some way, but what is important is that we learn from those mistakes and continue making progress forward. Sometimes this can mean swallowing our pride or changing our existing care standards as new information and research comes out too! 😊 It's important to always stay willing and open-minded when it comes to our pets! P.s. Special thanks to "Lolamutt" for specifically asking this question in a Q&A video! ♡ ♡ ♡
HoppingHammy are you going to get more hamsters soon? Do you want anymore hamsters bc I was thinking maybe you could do rabbits next?♡♡♡♡ I love you!♡♡♡♡
HoppingHammy hey I've just collected my hamster it's a baby boy, there's a few questions I'll like to talk to u in private if u have the time it would mean the world to me, pls add me on insta if u have it @itz_tazza thx if u do, u and Tori are the best❤️
My poor hamster I had when I was in 2nd grade, Jingle! He lived in a 10 gallon tank, with cedar bedding and a wheel and that's pretty much it. But he lived for 5 years, so I'm surprised to this day.
During hurricane Harvey my family evacuated and we had to leave my hamster but we had our neighbor watch our pets while we were gone, she called on the first night we were gone and said that the hamster wasn’t in its cage. We got home 4 days later and we could not find her anywhere!! A few days later we threw away her cage bc it had been 9 days since anyone had seen her. That night I heard a scratching under my bed and so I turned on my light and she was under my bed. We had already thrown away her cage so we put her in her little transport cage for the rest of the night until the next morning when we went to buy all new stuff since we threw all of it away.
I imagine all good pet owners have made mistakes and learned from them. I got my first hammy many years ago and the poor little guy spent the first few months in a small cage with a small wheel 🙁 He came out for floor time every night and never wanted to go back in his cage. He was 16 months old when I finally made a bigger cage and got him a bigger wheel. To this day I feel guilty. I love the Autumn decor in the background. I also love the footage of your cute past hammies. Lots of hugs.
Great video! I agree that everyone makes mistakes! My first hamster was a dwarf and she lived in a cage that was probably about 12 x 12, and very tall. She lived a long time too, and had cage aggression. Her aggression made me never want a hamster again, which is why when I got my next pet rodent, I got a mouse. I ended up really liking mice, but eventually I found videos like yours on UA-cam, and learned that I was caring for her wrong, and that's probably why she was aggressive. Then finally, late last year, I got Blue. I was scared to put my hand anywhere near him at first, out of fear of being bitten. It turns out though, hamsters can be a lot sweeter than I thought! Now, every night, I pet my little Blue and hand-feed him treats. I am so grateful I decided to watch some hamster videos on UA-cam and learn what I had done wrong! :) Now that I know how to care for animals correctly, I love both mice and hamsters!
I think these kinds of videos are amazing because when a hamster owner gets into the online hamster world it feels so intimidating because it seems like everyone is telling you have to give them like 2000squar inches of floor space, tons of bedding etc etc. thank you so much for this video!
My biggest mistakes were the common ones... small cage, wire wheel, and keeping solitary hamsters together. But one that I've never heard of anyone else doing before is giving hamsters (several) mineral treats unattended overnight. My hamster Galileo ate almost an entire one one night and died the day after. I'm not sure if that was why he died, because he was sick for a few days before that, but I still feel really bad about it.
Omg the Cream Puff story is so similar to that of Marble (my gerbil)! Basically I was playing with her and my other gerbil on the landing. It was safe, totally safe until my sister scared her and Marble literally sprang over the banisters in shock (idk how) and fell more than 10 feet. She landed with a thud on the ground floor and I immediately prepared myself for the worst. But as I went to look I just saw a happy, slightly confused gerbil! Lesson: gerbils can jump higher than you think, always play with them in a low, safe environment 💗
Most of the pet owners on youtube made mistakes back in the days when there was barely any knowledge about hamsters. And here I am, still fixing my mistakes😢
lol when you said splat I was imagining something much worse for Creampuff... I feel so bad for my first hamster, I was around 12 and hadn't done enough research, and now I know that she probably wasn't very happy. But thanks to channels like yours and many other hamster channels, I'll be able to give the best of care to my next hamster.
When I was a kid, my sisters brought home rats without our parents knowing and it led to a few years of owning an assortment of rodents. Partially because our parents weren't into it and partially because we didn't research the right things, they didn't have big enough cages. I will feel guilty about it forever, but I use that guilt as fuel to make others know how to properly care for their pets. And maybe one day I'll get a hamster or mouse or rat again and give them the best life I possible can!
I got my third hamster this year (my first two being over 10 years ago), and I felt sooo bad as I was doing research while preparing. I didn't know just HOW wrong I treated my first two hamsters. The only thing I can do now is do right by my current one. :/
I made some mistakes in the past and it stops me from getting new pets because I feel like I don't deserve them because I made mistakes in the past and I know it's stupid but it makes me feel so sad
Thank you so much 😊 ! I was so sad and embarrassed every time I thought about my first hamsters cage. It was a critter trail😔 although I learned from my mistakes I still feel like I could have done better but now I know that mostly every hamster owner went or is going through this😕 I’m not the only one 😶
Great video HH! I have missed your videos so much! Hoping your getting better! I love you dearly and I am praying for you!!! Can't wait till you get a new hamster!
Hallo Billy bobbbbbb! Oh my goshhhhhhhhhhhhh! ^^ I'm actually crying I'm so happy! :D Squeee! I loved seeing your hamsters clips! ^^ Yes, I feel so bad for my old hamsters. Tiny cages, no wheel, following bad advice. I love all the photos in this! Oh dear! Hamsters really do endure falls, I feel like people don't realise that. Because Creampuff survived, KimmieGreen17's diesel survived, and my two robos also have! :/ Love the autumn theme too, and the cat ears! :D Hope you have a good day and week!
Yay you made it here, and aww I'm glad you are happy!! 😊 I'm sorry it took so long to film this video after you asked this question, but I suppose it's better late than never! 😂 Thank you so so much and have a good week also! 💖
Amazing video! I feel that lots of people who looks up to you and other hamster owners have made mistakes, and feel really bad about them. It is reassuring to know that as long as you have learned from the mistakes, and nothing bad happened to the hamster, it is fine. I love this style of video, because it shows that no one is perfect, and everyone makes mistakes! I too have made mistakes, but I have learned from them, and luckily nothing bad has ever happened. Also, I LOVE that fall decor!! Eeeeeee!! I am in the autumn mood now. I really want to decorate this year! And that cat ear hairband is so cute! I also love how the colour of the ears matches the orangey background. Your shirt is also so beautiful, and the plaid design is so matching. I can tell you put lots of effort into that composition! Great video HH! Have a lovely day!
Wow, thank you SO much for this lovely comment Jetstream 10!! 😊 Yes, it's easy to get down on ourselves over mistakes that we've made, but really no one is perfect and there is always something to learn and improve on! I was reading a topic about this on Hamster Hideout the other day and it reminded me to film this video since it had been requested! I hope so much that you have a wonderful Autumn season and enjoy it to the fullest! 🍂 🍁 P.s. Keep up the great work with your art! Your speed drawing was really interesting to watch the other day!
Aww, thank you! I am so glad you found it interesting! And thank you, I will definitely enjoy this autumn! Cosy sweaters, plaid shirts, beautiful leaves, Thanksgiving, and NO mosquitoes haha XD. I hope you enjoy it too!
I had dwarf hamsters when I was younger and I made many mistakes like you did. Especially letting one escape. She fell from our balcony in our two story house and LIVED!! I now own my second hamster named Ginger. She’s a teddy bear
When I had my hamster I put her in her ball and watched her , I had just finished cleaning her cage and decided to let her play and then I remembered I forgot to change the food so I went quickly for 20 seconds to pour food in the food bowl and put it in her cage literally less than a minute my eyes were off of her and when I came back she wasnt in her ball. Luckily my dad was sleeping and didn’t hear me go to my sister and say my hamster is somewhere in the house and I cant find her, it took us like 30 minutes to find her but we found her next to my dad taking a nap .
I’ve wanted a hamster for a long time and I’m *FINALLY* going to be in a place in life where I can get one and I’ve been watching so many great and trustworthy hamster youtubers like you and Victoria Raechel and I’m going to do everything I can to give my future hamster an awesome life.
When I first got my hamster (who sadly died a few months ago) she wasn't tame yet and I left the side door of her cage open and she jumped out and she ran and it was so hard to get her
I'm so glad that you have a big cage now! The guidelines for cages usually define very small cages and contain little to interact with. No animal would manage to spend his/her life in something like that without getting crazy. The most shocking case I ever got to know is that they literally stored snakes in little plastic boxes slightly bigger than a shoe box (Not just for hibernation). Apparently, in the US this is legal.
You're so sweet!! 😘 Thank you! Yes, I am appreciating (more and more) the days where I have energy and good mental clarity to film videos for you guys! ❤️ ❤️
i have had hamsters for over 50 now and have had them get out and fall from 3 to 5 feet. they never got hurt that I could tell. but then it was always on to a carpeted floor. I miss hamsters now, as I am disabled and where I live won't allow it. even though I am all most 60. it's not like I am an irresponsible kid or teenager. they allow, cats they allow small dogs. my last hamster was HUGE at almost 8.5 inches long. I had to buy a chinchilla wheel for him. he lived almost a full 5 years. Watching your videos brought a little bit of happiness back to me. Thank you for making the Videos.
i made so many mistakes i over feed my second hamster a lot, i didn’t leave her room to burrow, and i waited 2 months to clean her cage and i hate that i did that because she unfortunately passed away
My biggest mistake was using dust instead of sand. Now I use repti-sand. Her sand pit is 12 x 12 inches. That’s like as big as what Petco and Petsmart recommend as a minimum. I am thankful for you because I did all of my research from people like you, ErinsAnimals and Victoria Raechel before I got my hamster 😀
Thank you for this interesting and informative video, which is very helpful, especially drawing attention to the importance of closing cage door, traps and gates to avoid the hamster escaping and risking a fall or worse. I'm not sure where there are fifty-two "thumbs down" symbols on this post, it is honest, interesting, informative and sincere, presented by somebody who clearly loves and respects small animals. So a "thumbs up" from me and I can't understand anybody not liking this, unless they dislike the presenter for some reason, or dislike small animals. Thank you to Hopping Hammy!
I've been watching you for a while now ^•^❤️ and im thankful I picked you to watch on my hammy journey ❤️ i have 2 winter whites now❤️ thank you for the inspiration ❤️
Omg, my hamster falling is definitely my biggest fear. I've had nightmares about him somehow getting out of his cage and falling. So glad she was okay!
Love the vid (as always hehe) and I made mistakes even though they weren't the worst. The only thing I can think of rn is that I had a cage that was too small for the German recommended size (it might have been ok for America so it wasn't THAT small but in Germany the recommended minimum cage size is 1m by 40cm) but then thank god I found your channel and you gave me the inspiration and especially information to get a bigger cage and stuff like that so yeah thanks for that 💗💗 (none of my hamsters died in the small cage the 1st one Has only been in there for like 6 months and then I got a bigger cage and then I got a detolf because I got 2 hamsters ☺️💗
I had a poor hamster that jumped off of my bed and broke his back ;-; he showed no pain from it and the vet said he should be fine just keep an eye on him and lived for 2 years after it as a paralyzed hamster. He was such a trooper as he would run as fast as he could on his wheel even without his back legs.
The story where you forgot to close a opening and the hamster fell out reminds me of what happened not long ago with my guinea pig.. I had to cut her claws and after that I had to sneeze (a lot of fur flying around :p ) and in this moment she jumped from the chair I had her on and fell around 50cm downwards and immediatelly started to only walk on three feets, lifting the right front paw up in pain. Luckily she was fine after just one hour and was running again like nothing ever happened :D
Haha. My dwarf hamster lived to be 2 years old. It was depressing when Robin died, because Batman was quite alone, and that really kind of made me feel guilty in a way. They were brothers from the same litter (?) so yeah. I'm like 90% sure they didn't die from a disease, but they got kind of sick like 2 months before Robin died.
Yeah! Really loved seeing you HoppingHammy. Missed you and no matter what topic you talk about and info you share, love it and appreciate it. 🤗❤I wish I lived near you because I have sweet Syrian hammy I named "SUGAR" who would love to live in your extra large diy habitat. Her home is presently a 40gal. and I let her Rome freely in my bedroom at times which she loves. I have two other small Russian dwarfs which also have big homes. I ❤️ them all and can take care of them but I really need to down size. Because at times after working and taking care of all things that go along with being a single mom of a now 15y/o, a yorkie, betta fish and hammys, I'm just exhausted. I would love to know she went to you if it was possible ❤ Anyway, just a thought. Bless you HoppingHammy always😇💕🐾💗🕊🐹🍁🐝
My biggest hamster mistake was putting a rock into my cage...I had seen many people put rocks in their cage so they can file nails down. we had an earthquake and my cage fell off the dresser and the rock fell on her. She was 3 & had a good life. I loved her a lot. Please no hate I’m just sharing my story so people are more careful. I made my mistake, I learned and now have a new hamster who’s 2. :)
The WORST MISTAKE I have ever made was putting my hammy in a small cage (travel sized) with pine bedding and no cage cleaning and no playtime with a tiny wheel. She has been living off fillers her whole life... I FEEL SOO BAD! I WAS IN KINDERRR
A vet recently recommended a type of dry shampoo spray to help get rid of the "heat cycle" smell, I haven't bought it yet but I was wondering if you think this is safe, I understand this is a vet telling me but do you have anything other than a sand bath, Sand bathed seem to not work for me
Wow, that thing about leaving it open and having my hamster (Snoozer is his name) escaping and potentially falling (since my desk,. bed etc are all quite high and i had a wooden floor) is my worst nightmare oh gosh...
I've been keeping hamsters for almost 30 years now maybe longer now that I think about it and I have made mistakes believe you me! But most recently a mistake happened that was kind of my fault but not really a hamster jumped out of the cage while I was cleaning it and got onto the floor but it was my Robo fidget so fast so very very fast I couldn't catch her in the wheelchair, almost fell out trying, so now she is gone forever and I feel awful about it... I did all the things to try to re-catch her but nothing worked I hope she found a water source and some food 😥
I am so so sorry this happened. 😥 I understand that Robos can be incredibly fast and speedy and difficult to catch. I'm sure you feel awful about it. Hugs! 💔
I got my first hamster 10+ years ago and my mistake was keeping them in a pet shop cage, getting my third hamster hopefully next August (after my holiday) and have been doing so much research for the past few years!
Just recently i somehow knocked the latch on my rats cage open. No idea how, i must have bumped it in my "Its late i just got home from work and the house is still dark" rush to my bedroom. About an hour or so later im chillin in my room with my *cats*, yes two cats free to roam the house, when i realize that the noises im hearing aren't from my upstairs neighbors but from my apartment. Two of my rats had been out running around. Luckily i learned that my cats super don't care (i don't know what id have done if they decided they did) but one of my rats got under the stove and it took me half an hour of chasing to finally catch her and put her in the cage. The MOST stressful mistakes I've ever made and im so so happy my cats are smol and chill because that could have been deadly at any point while i didn't realize they were out.
Oh my goodness. i had the same occurrence. When i was in 5th grade i took my best-est friend up to my brothers room to see his new hamster cocoa. so we unfortunately woke her up suddenly i handed my friend cocoa and then my friend got scared and dropped the hamster on wood floor. She landed on her back and she all of a sudden peed while on her back. I felt terrible like it was all my fault. (mostly cause it was all my fault) i checked her over and she was fine and ran on her wheel all night. But ever since then i have been terrified of this occurrence happening again... (and don't worry it hasn't and i hope it never will ever again.!)
Hi there! Love all your tips and tricks and how you learned from your mistakes! I am currently fostering a syrian hamster after a friend's house burned down and they had to relocate. Currently I've got her in a 120 qt bin cage that I thought would work well, but she is so bored and needs more space.. any cheap suggestions for this temporary arrangement? I've got a midwest guinea habitat that I thought of using, I'd need to modify with mesh and maybe make a bottom for it as the bottom is canvas? What do you think!? Would love your input!
i made some mistakes which led me to recently losing another hamster :( and i’m not gonna get another one for a while bc i feel i won’t be able to take care of it bc of school and sports and i just won’t have enough time :(
I had a hamster and one night I went to bed and the next day I figured out the tube (connecting the smaller cage to the big cage) was disconnected and she escaped. When we found her her eye was out of the socket. My dog saw her and tried to chase her and hit her and her eye cam out. So she had to get surgery done but, she lived a healthy 3 1/2 years though!
I made the same mistakes as well. I read so many books that had the wrong information. I really wanted to provide them a good life. But I didn’t know how to at the time. :/
This is a great video! I've had more than my fair share of pets, and to be honest, hamsters weren't really well known in our public library, so I had to ask around. I can relate to many of the things you've talked about (like choosing the best cage).
I had like 4 hamster when i was a kid, not at the same time, but my mistakes where similar to yours. At that time yt and internet didn´t even exist so the only information I could get about hamsters was from hamster books and thoes where just so basic...and wrong. Only with my last hamster, I had it when I was in my early 20´s I did hopefully everything right.
I also once lost a bubnle cap on one of my hamster little houses over night will me and my parenys were sleeping and when we woke up i saw my hamsters tube full of my cats dry food and he was just peacefully sleeping XD (so it turns out while he escaped he jumped of the couch whent to my cats food bowl, stole food and put it in his cheeks, climbed back on the couch through my dads jacket and went back in his cage XD) he was totally fine and didnt eat any cords not got attacked by my cat!
When I had just turned 9 years old I had a short haired Syrian named teddy, she was so sweet and around when she was 3 years old I had made my biggest mistake. I had looked in her cage and she had a lot of food and water so I thought she was fine, I checked everyday for a week and she only ate a little bit in that whole week. On about Monday I checked one last time and she had at least half her food bowl left. So on Tuesday I stopped looking until Saturday and I was in the restroom brushing my hair and my parents said “Keira your in trouble!” So I stopped brushing my hair and ran into my room and they said “Her food bowl and water bottle is empty.” And I refilled both of them and my hamster was in her little hideaway and her eyes were closed and I thought she was sleeping ( she wasn’t dead but she was dehydrated that her eyes couldn’t open) so we went out to eat and we came back I checked on my hamster and her head was shaking so much ( she was having a seizure) and I yelled “something is wrong with Teddy!” And I carried her to my parents and I was super tired but I wanted to stay but my parents said that I should just go to bed so I did and the next morning I asked my parents if she survived and they said no she died at 3:00am in the morning and now I learned from that and never made a mistake again and now I have a winter white dwarf hamster named Evie and I pay so much attention to her but I still miss her so much she was my little Princess Teddy and also I’ve been through a lot in that time my sweet little kitty died from kidney disorder or something but he wasn’t just any cat I had him since a baby and he was always there when I was sad but yeah I’ve made that huge mistake with my hamster and I’ve learned so much from it.
The good thing is that now I have my first hamster! I did research before getting her so I'm very proud of my self :) Also a story is that one time I was watching my brother outside and then I went inside and my hamster wasnt in her cage then I really had to go to the bathroom so I went to the bathroom and I found her right in the bathroom so I called my mom and my mom is scared to touch her so she used her sand bath to put her in her cage later I realized that she had climbed her wire window and stepped on her wheel and plopped out!
0:50 goodness! I have that really old "Hamsters as a New Pet" book - I bought it when my school library was getting rid of old stock. I like it as it's quite scientific, with hamster anatomy, statistics, but not for hamster care as it is very much out of date - I mean, they show wheels with bars and pine wood shavings...
Luckily I've only had 1 1/2 hamsters live in an unsuitable cage. My current hamster lived in one for less than half her life but now she's got a big cage!
It's a random question but I want to ask about the cage decorations. _What kind of wood log or branch that I could use? _I do want to have "green" in the cage but my hamster bites the fake plants so I have to pick it out. Any suggestions??? *sorry for my bad grammar, and if it's has any flaws u guys could show me, I will thankful for that :))
My biggest mistake was that I left a cap off of one of her cages and I want to sleep in the next day I went to feed her and I was being a little noisy and normally when I'm noisy she comes out of her house and she didn't and then I checked her whole cage and she was going to do it so my mom came and checked her cage and you and she wasn't there so we were looking all over the house for her and after a while my mom found her and my mom's closet
I might get a lil hammy and I’m hoping to get a winter white! If I do, I’ll most likely name it sapphire ! Also great video I’ve learned a lot from it since I’ve never had a hamster before!
One day, my best friend was driving by a pet shop and her grandmother asked if she wanted to go in and look at the animals. When she went inside, she fell in love with this adorable little hamster. Her grandmother said if she wanted the hamster, and she said yes. So they went to the hamster section of the pet shop and grabbed a critter trail starter kit. Luckily, she got good bedding (carefresh), but did not get good food. She got a KAYTEE branded food which if you didn't know, isn't a very good food (her hamster is prone to diabetes and the mix had lots of added sugar). So she checked out and left the shop with her supplies and her hamster. A week or so later, I went to her house for a sleepover. She asked if I wanted to see her new hamster. And of course, I did. And when I saw the cage I was shocked 😳. I told her it was to small, and that the minimum size was 450 square inches. She said that it was ok because dwarves are small and don't need at lot of space. I convinced her to have a bin cage (which was still under the minimum) but was at least a little bit better than a critter trail. Count how many things are wrong with the care. This is why you have to do research. The hamster is still doing well, it is approaching 2 years.
mines is worse my hamster jumpend from my shoulder because i forgot he was there he was fine nothing was wrong thank god i still took him to the vets because like even if im not that long (lol) it was not good for him... but even after 2 years hes fine i really love him and i never made the same mistake.. hes almost like 5 years and has a women with 7 children so im really happy for him :)
My hamster escaped recently (Don't Judge I'm only a kid and this is my first ham) I left the top lid with only two clips to clip and Cookie 🍪 escaped I woke up at 6 in the morning and freaked I got my sister help me find cookie because he ran behind the shelf luckily we lured him out with his favorite treat coconut
Hi hoppinghammy! I come seeking advice. My hamster is currently on antibiotics because he has an infection that caused his face to swell up so severely that his eye popped out :( i got the antibiotics from a vet of course, and he's been taking them very well. However he's usually much too tired because he's been sick to come out and eat much. I've been giving him watered down pellets from his food through a syringe but I was wondering if you knew of any hamster "super foods" that could strengthen him up. Thank you in advance :)
Glad to see you are feeling a bit better and able to do a video. You are very sweet and honest. I have been struggling also this summer so I understand it when you find yourself with so little energy but you take advantage of your good days. Bravo.
I almost always keep mice, i love them! but.... they are VERY good runing away, and in the most impresive ways. One night I am sleeping and its like 3AM and I hear like a splashing sound, i suddenly got VERY hiperaware and jumped to turn on t he lights, and... my mice was swiming for dear life in my fish tank. I don't know how but he managed to scape, climb to the furniture next to his cage and in his bad luck he fell on the ONE open place of the tank. I dried him a lot... but he died one week later. I always feel so bad about it :c
I had three hamsters yesterday my brother stepped on my robo hamster now my Russian winter white has a tumor and he is one and a half years old. so I have 1 and a half hamsters
Hi! I was wondering if there was a certain hamster cage disinfectant you would recommend for a DIY IKEA billy cage. My hamster recently died and I wanted to pass on the cage and toys to my next hamster. Is there anything you recommend to buy or make?
Really enjoyed this video! I think it's easy for people to look at pet UA-camrs and think they're perfect, but the truth is everybody makes mistakes. The story about Creampuff reminded me of what happened to Piper last week. I'm so glad neither of them got injured because of our silly mistakes.
Thank you and I'm so glad too! Yes, thankfully Piper was fine also and it all turned out okay for you both! Glad you enjoyed this! :) :)
I have had 19 total, although 2 of those hamsters were being fostered and only with me for a few months. 😊
HoppingHammy are you going to get more hamsters soon? Do you want anymore hamsters bc I was thinking maybe you could do rabbits next?♡♡♡♡ I love you!♡♡♡♡
HoppingHammy I love you. Please please follow my channel
HoppingHammy I've made so much mistakes but have corrected them
HoppingHammy hey I've just collected my hamster it's a baby boy, there's a few questions I'll like to talk to u in private if u have the time it would mean the world to me, pls add me on insta if u have it @itz_tazza thx if u do, u and Tori are the best❤️
My poor hamster I had when I was in 2nd grade, Jingle! He lived in a 10 gallon tank, with cedar bedding and a wheel and that's pretty much it. But he lived for 5 years, so I'm surprised to this day.
5 YEARS that might even be a world record
Emma Bessette he can’t live for 5 years the oldest hamster lived for 4 years and a couple of months
5 years?! I thought hamsters can only live for 2-3 years!
Why would you throw everything? You could have sold it or give it to someone, or just keep it if you wanted another one
Why did you throw away the cage though. You could have used it for a future hamster or sold it online. Really a silly waste of money in my opinion.
Omg glad she’s safe 💖
A video from Hopping Hammy can make any hard day at school better :)
Aw Tiffani, I'm sorry you had a hard day at school today!
HoppingHammy Thank you. :) I hope to have some time to relax as well.
It's okay, at least you are fixing them! :)
@@HoppingHammy Thanks:)
lol when you said splat I was imagining something much worse for Creampuff...
I feel so bad for my first hamster, I was around 12 and hadn't done enough research, and now I know that she probably wasn't very happy. But thanks to channels like yours and many other hamster channels, I'll be able to give the best of care to my next hamster.
Fall is my fav season any one else love her background!!💗
I love seeing your hamsters play and I also enjoy how you are owning up to the mistakes you've made and sharing it with us. Thanks😊
HoppingHammy Ahaha, it's perfectly fine! :)
HoppingHammy I love you vids 🐹🐹🐹
This is a great video! Because your not afraid to admit your mistakes!😊 Love all the Fall stuff!😆
I'm so happy that you had a new video that I stopped doing my homework and started watching your video
Yay! So glad God blessed you with energy w/ this video, because I really enjoyed! Seeing a new vid of yours just brings a smile to my face!
I'm glad the videos bring you happiness and remind you of when you had hamsters! :)
Omg I love your shirt and your background I'm so exited for fall, love the video
i made so many mistakes i over feed my second hamster a lot, i didn’t leave her room to burrow, and i waited 2 months to clean her cage and i hate that i did that because she unfortunately passed away
Awe all the hamster clips you included were adorable! :)
Everyone makes mistakes. I made many mistakes for my first 2 hamsters. Great video!
So glad she was okay!
omg that picture with the barbie doll buying a giant hamster is so amazing.
Lol! Tin Roof was so tolerant of everything. He had a wonderful personality. :)
I just got my first hamster, his name is Mocha. Thankfully your videos help me out so much! He is very happy!
Congrats on Mocha and I hope he lives a long and healthy life with you!
Wow, I would never have known that could be dangerous. Thanks for sharing so other people can learn.
Im getting a hamster and this really helped me thx
The WORST MISTAKE I have ever made was putting my hammy in a small cage (travel sized) with pine bedding and no cage cleaning and no playtime with a tiny wheel. She has been living off fillers her whole life... I FEEL SOO BAD! I WAS IN KINDERRR
Whenever my hamsters have jumped or I accidentally dropped them, they always land on their feet
Hugs! 💔
H i'm so glad you had a good day though I remember being young and sick and it sucks just as much as being old and sick does now LOL
Can you do a Paris theme hamster cage please?!
Trixie Arellano omg yas
Love you Hopping Hammy!!!💞
I'm finally gonna get another hamster after my last one his name was winter and I had him for almost 5 to 6 years I miss him
Ahhhhhhh I love your picture and your background in your videos. I Just love autumn 🍂🍁🎃
Thank you so much and me too! It's the most beautiful time of year! 😊 🍂🍁
HoppingHammy I one hundred percent agree. Love u 😍
I think one of the easiest mistakes people often make is not having the proper size wheel and it really can effect them as they use it every day.
Oml i love your hair!
Omg your shirt is soooo pretty I NEED IT
Thank you so much! :) I found it at Goodwill and thought how pretty it was for Autumn!
Do a video where you show yourself adopting/buying a hamster for pro tips for beginners.
Also love the decorations and the plaid shirt and the cat ears
Hopping hammy will you please do a video about hamster toys
This is a great video! I've had more than my fair share of pets, and to be honest, hamsters weren't really well known in our public library, so I had to ask around. I can relate to many of the things you've talked about (like choosing the best cage).
Mine was an undersized cage(60x40x40) and fluffy bedding!
U r such a love with with a kind heart !
"call me maybe" cover💜💜💜💜
honestly the story about cream puff had me more invested than any of these big budget drama tv shows.
Lol, your comment had me giggle! :) I am glad you found it to be entertaining!
The hamster is still doing well, it is approaching 2 years.
yay another video, your videos are great keep it up:)
Where do I start, I've dropped my guinea pig at least twice and forgotten stuff please don't leave hat comments I was so guilty
She was fine
mines is worse my hamster jumpend from my shoulder because i forgot he was there he was fine nothing was wrong thank god i still took him to the vets because like even if im not that long (lol) it was not good for him...
but even after 2 years hes fine i really love him and i never made the same mistake..
hes almost like 5 years and has a women with 7 children so im really happy for him :)
Awesome video! I loved it and I think that people could definitely learn from them!
Are you ever thinking about adopting a new hammy? 💗 Love your videos!!
Hopping, I really am trying to prepare properly to buy a hamster next month but I'm so worried his cage will be too small. What should I do?
My hamster escaped recently (Don't Judge I'm only a kid and this is my first ham) I left the top lid with only two clips to clip and Cookie 🍪 escaped I woke up at 6 in the morning and freaked I got my sister help me find cookie because he ran behind the shelf luckily we lured him out with his favorite treat coconut
my hamster is called cookie too !!
Thank you in advance :)
love this video keep doing what your doing!
I nearly dropped my hamster once MY YEART SKIPPED A BEAT so happy he's okay
my friend has the exact same head band lol she wore it yesterday
That's so neat! Twinsies! 😁
I’m glad you made this video I can learn for you
Hi! I was wondering if there was a certain hamster cage disinfectant you would recommend for a DIY IKEA billy cage. My hamster recently died and I wanted to pass on the cage and toys to my next hamster. Is there anything you recommend to buy or make?
Camila Monreal I dunno about hamsters but at least for my ratties I use a mix of vinegar and water. Works well!
Omg I love your videos and your hamster is adorable
