regards! Many times it is a little frustrating to have to do the work twice, but with the experience gained the first time, the second is always better, the project is looking great !!
Thanks for all this GS series! I am wrenching on mine right now. Its gas tank was badly oxidized, witch led to broken fuel pump, stuck fuel pressure regulator and dirty injectors. Now i just have to apply the POR15 coating. I bought 2x half pint POR15 cans... but i am not certain it will be enough for the GS-tank. How much did you used for your tank? THX!
My pleasure! Seems like a reoccurring issue on these bikes! I can't remember how much I used. But I had leftovers. I should have used it all, for better coverage, I had some spots that could have been better. I think they have some estimates on how much you need for a certain size tank.
I will make it, i just Need to get back 😅 in worst case scenario, i have all the footage I have taken so far, so maybe i have enough to put a short one together that makes sense 😅 I'm happy you enjoy them! It's nice to know, that all the work I put down can be seen by others then just myself!
You did a good job, although the acid dosen t seem that strong lile the one I was using or perhaps you didn t let it long enough it the tank, anyway you shouldn t have anymore issues with it. Engoy the bike, hope to see you on the road :D
Thanks, i think i should have left it in there for a longer time. But I had to air it out, and get the sealer in during the day. As I suddenly had to get a flight back to Norway the day after. And put the entire bike together. It seems like the liner has covered well, except from a few places were the old liner were. I might ad another coat when I get back just to be sure. I will take a closer look when that time comes. If I'm lucky I can get back within the next 2 weeks, and actually ride it! 😁
It comes in 2 variants, plastic (or maybe fiberglass as you said. But same same) and in metall, as the one I have. Wich were rusty on the inside after it had been sitting open for a long time outside, and were filled with water.
Can I have the dimensions or the schedule of the flange you have use to tap the fuel pump hole? I want to do the same procedure. Are you happy with the results of the chemicals you have use? You will recommend those? What happend with engine? What repairs you have done?
I will see if i have the files on my laptop. The results were really good. But i should have used more of the paint in the tank. That would make it easier to cover everything. I did have to do several checks before i was happy with the results.
@@pristineprojects4881 Here in Greece i can't find this products so I've must to order it from Germany. They have it in 20lt or 40lt kits. I will buy the 40lt option. I guess is enough. Condition of my tank is same same like yours... You have don't excellent work mate!!!!!
@@prap.i its better to have leftovers then needing more, thats for sure! if you have leftovers you can always use it for something else later. but yeah, 40l kit should be more then enough. its the size of the fueltank on my mazda MX5 :P thank you! :D
I just watched your gs series, I have the same bike, you have done an excellent job, thanks for sharing.
Thank you! I hope it might help you in some way! 😁

How's it looking now, two years later? Is the replacement liner holding up?

@@pristineprojects4881 be careful with the second coat, you don t want it to be too thick in the end and whatever you do don t let it puddle.
Okay, what happens then? Thanks for the information!
@@pristineprojects4881 if it s too thick, small cracks will form when it s drying.
The 1100gs has a fiberglass fuel tank, why does it need cleaning and coating?
