Man I miss watching you… always so layed back and one of my absolute favorite SAK Channels period. Hope all has been and is well with yourself and your family
I got to chat with our regional Victorinox representative recently. (I work for an AD). I made sure to bring in two old school models from my collection to show him. The first was a 1996 Alox soldier model with the bail. The second was an older (1950’s?) wenger with a bail, lined corkscrew, and oddly enough an aluminum crossbow shield inlaid into the plastic scales. I got it for cheap on eBay a few years ago, and cleaned up the tools on it. Our rep really was impressed! It’s definitely fun to search for some of the vintage SAK’s. : )
I'm a collector but I only collect models i think I'll actually carry... the Spartan, Tourist, Compact, SD, Mountaineer, Camper, Tinker, and all the comparative Wenger models.
At first I just wanted one of each MacGyver had ever used, but then you research history and out of productions stuff and it is easy to be addicted and wanting all of them! Even though I do not use them.. I find the Cadet and Sportsman to be some of the best ones to have around, with the new file. The Rambler is also a favorite. Small and compact, probably most of what you would need. I do wish they had some more with metal saw/file that was not that big/thick, the EVO S557 if it had a file would be pretty good. I have never understood the point with the small blade, they just waste space, but I know people love the little blade too.. The best thing on a pocket knife is I guess the toothpick, to pick out pocket-lint from USB ports. It is the perfect fit. The Cadet is missing that one though....
Great video! I check all those boxes but one. I don't have an old cross SAK, but I do have a couple of soldiers, a vintage, a "weird", and a LE alox. Lately I've been digging the 111mm a lot. I recently bought a Dual X Pro, a Hunter XS, an Adventurer and a Sentinel.
This was a really cool video. I’m a recent collector from 🇧🇷 and I’m still finding my ground. I love special editions, but I also feel that SAKs are to be used, because it is the utmost way to respect a tool. For me it started with a Climber that my dad gave me some 27 years ago but only now I started collecting them and a Soldat (Wenger version of the Soldier) that I got as a gift in 2004. I try to improve my collection with significant SAKs and also trying to get discontinued models before they become difficult to get. I was “monitoring” a Wengerinox for sale and after your video, I just bought it straight away! Now I have to look for an Old Cross! 😂 Thanks and keep doing these awesome videos!!
Excellent video as always, Dan! 👍 I'm guilty of collecting two of your categories: Soldiers and Old Cross. Got probably 15-18 Soldiers (model 1961) with all of the major 6 patterns. Plus 3 Old Cross, which are harder to find than Soldiers these days. You've got some great knives, especially in the vintage and weird categories!
I have a lot of Swiss Army knives, some of which you have shown. Weird, old, unusual, uncommon is what I l collect. Two models that will never ( EVER) be in my collection: the Tomo and the Golftool.
Thanks Dan, just curious to ask your opinion on dating a knife with 11 tools, “VICTORIA OFFICER SUISSE” one one side tang with crossbow through Victoria, “VICTORINOX SWITZERLAND STAINLESS ROSTFREI” on the other side of the tang, no hole in the reamer tool, 5 turns on the cork screw which has a black groove, centimetres one one side of the fish scaler tool and inches on the other side, steel spring scissors tool. No other markings on any of the blades/tools, no visible rivets, just the shield cross under the classic red. Happy to go onto more detail if interested
Nicely done! Excellant categories and script; although I have never been a big fan of special editions. Maybe it's time to do a favorites video again. Please keep em coming, and include a musical intro every once in a while!
HiDan, there isnt.much weirder than.the Baker's knife, or maybe the florsistd knives! They definitely don't scream Victorinox, thats for sure Take care Graham
that Timekeeper has to be from post 1997 because the file on the hook was introduced in 1998. Would love to have a black one with roman numerals but they are over $300 and not worth it
You ought to get that price tag removed. Hope it doesn't stain or cause reaction to the plastic. I mean it doesn't matter, but it will just remind you how bad decision it was not to remove the sticker in the first place,

Thank you for the kind words and for stopping back by!

The Sildier in your byrth year can bee hard to find but it is nice if you find it and can show it off to others.
Good video, nice cross section & representation of the many models that make Victorinox such fun to collect 👍
Thank you for the feedback and thanks for watching! Cheers!!!
they did produce the Pioneer in silver very early on and they made gold ones also
I did not know that! Thank you for the info and thank you for watching! Cheers!
Great video!
I have some soldiers from the early 70's. So they go in 2 categories: old cross and soldiers. Very efficient 😂

you should have included water buffalo and mother of pearl and maybe something when they used genuine stag antler also

red Alox Soldier's were made until about 1977
Pretty much perfect suggestions , I would just add something Wenger...

You have a wealth of SAK knowledge! Are you a MTO/Swiss Army Knight member?
I just ordered a older long thin single layer ice pick type tool only.?
I recently bought a Swiss army knife it looks like Spartan but it has scissors but no tooth or tweezers can you tell me what model I have please
Dan my name is George and I'm a SAKaholic I think I need to get help 😂
Thanks for watching, George! The first step is admitting you have a problem. The second step is to like, comment, and subscribe. 😂 Cheers!!!
@@swissarmydan9354 I was hoping for you to say buy more 😛
@@bigGeo5460i wanted to give you some free options 😅. But lord knows I can relate to your condition
