The Classic SD Alox is so thin and light that you can keep one in your wallet (law-permitting), or a coin pocket without even noticing. Manager, Compact, and (tragically discontinued) Executive are amazing, too. My favourite really is a Cadet X, which Victorinox sadly doesn't produce (Cadet with scissors). I custom made one and it's just about EDC perfection.
Thanks for sharing about your cool SAK's, my personal fav and daily carry is the Super Tinker. 👍 It's nice to see you back, btw. 🙏 Take care and Cheers!
Except for the 93mm, I have, carry and use everthing you've recommended: 1. Rambler 2. Executive 3. Sportsman....I've add a small safety pin under the corkscrew/eyeglass/pin slot. 4. Compact....same thing with the safety pin. Excellent selections!
Great to see that you're back! 👍 Good conversation topic! However, my picks are: - 58mm: Signature (a Classic SD with pen in one scale). I need the pen constantly and almost never a toothpick. - 74mm: I would omit this size as I don't get it. Bantam Alox would be my choice instead. - 84mm: we agree on the Sportsman. My honorable mention would be the Wenger Traveler (3 layers with scissors) which is also just 2.5 ounces. - 91mm: Compact is the king! - 93mm: Pioneer is also an all time favorite of mine. I like it more than the Pioneer X as I always pair it with a 58mm Signature and I hate tool overlap.
Great video, thanks for sharing. My first SAK was a Spartan Lite, 3 layers but w useful inline phillips. Now I own way more than I need. Regarding the Pioneer: I prefer the Soldier....got a few from the 70's, basically the same tools but thicker and w/o key ring. 👍
Welcome back! You listed my 2 favorites: #1 for me is the Compact, and #2 is the Executive. My #3 is the Climber, with an honorable mention going to the Fieldmaster.
Good point about having a Classic SD on your keychain to back up your main knife. It allows one to choose a thinner, more pocket friendly main knife of your choice while retaining many capabilities. My personal favorite combination is the Classic SD, along with the Camper. This gives me great outdoor coverage (saw) while keeping the main knife down to three layers. I find three layers much more pocket friendly than four or more. Nice video.
Plus, the Classic SD easily fits in your 5th pocket on your jeans should you not care to carry it on your key chain. My key chain is too bulky as it is.
The Compact is my favourite pocket knife & I have a Classic SD on my key ring. Both are really useful - I just can’t work out why the compact is so expensive compared to other models with 3 layers & more tools??
Great video!! The Executive is a great combination of size and capabilities. It is very gentlemanly, and if I expect to need bottle/can openers, I can back it up with a wallet ninja or other card-size multi-tool. I always like to have scissors, so when I go spartan/sportsman/tourist etc, I back them up with a classic alox or even a swisscard. Double carry is the way to go. If you are not a SAK expert, what does that make us?? 😅😅😅
The thinness of the combo tool makes it a better can opener, in my vast and thrilling experience of opening cans, than the thicker tools. They all work really well, mind you, as long as you don’t overthink the whole issue, which we all do these days, *sigh*.
Wow! You don’t call, you don’t write…It’s great to hear from you again! As for the parcel hook. You are you familiar with the pour spout on a quart of Almond milk? There is a small cap with a pull ring. The parcel hook saves me every time on that cap. Great video. Thank you, S.A. Dan
I think we have your wife to thank for the recent series of SAK videos ? her purchase of the new storage box for you seems to have inspired you. If this is true thank her for us and keep it up.
Around the house, I carry an alox Classic around my neck on paracord. Outside the house, I carry the Climber or Sportsman and keep an Explorer in my kitchen.
Welcome back, Dan! Good hearing your voice 😊

I'm a SAK aholic I need to get help😂😜
Then you're in the wrong place here! That's like watching beer tasting videos as an alcoholic 😄
@@l.e.6077 So true, it's like a desease. If you haven't managed to stop after buying 1 such knife, you are lost forever))

Ooo, fancy opening and effects. Great video, great choices!

The ultimate ultralight Victorinox in my opinion is the Excelsior Smooth Alox: 2 blades, 21g and only 5mm thick!

Also handy if you fish with a baitcaster.

I subscribed! My favorite EDC combo is a SAK Camper with an Opinel No. 6
Thanks for watching/subscribing!!! Cheers 🍻
I have that same Manager on my key chain and it's the only 58mm I have
Mrs G bought me a manager some years ago!
Carry it everyday!
Around the house, I carry an alox Classic around my neck on paracord. Outside the house, I carry the Climber or Sportsman and keep an Explorer in my kitchen.
Welcome back
Hi Dan. How do I find a specific build year? I need a '72 of anything. If you have one for sale let me know.
