Be careful with Busuu. When you sign up and later you cancel your subscription they will keep charging you. When you contact them they blame you and refuse to give you a refund.
I think it's worth saying that Busuu have completely updated the Chinese course: for example, there's now 97 topics in A1, rather than 46 when you reviewed it, and the topics are all re-ordered. They also still seem to be adding new ones each month. There's still only 24 in B2 level, so I'm guessing they'll add topics to the higher levels over time too. I wouldn't say that Busuu is good for learning Chinese yet, but it's a nice supplement with additional variety and explanations to the other apps I use (Duolingo, HelloChinese, Fluenz) and book study. I think you should perhaps re-visit the course next year for a new review. I'm also doing their Dutch course, and it's very good; while lacking the practice repetition that Duolingo gives you, it provides you with more practical information right from the start, with lessons being much more "real life Dutch" than you find in Duolingo, so it's again a great learning tool in combination with other programs/apps.
i use duo just to keep track of my "streak", or how long i've been studying, and as a fun game to play with other languages. i completed all the hellochinese content. i would suggest "DuChinese" reading app if you have not already started using that. It has really improved my 听力能力。祝你好运。
I use Busuu to learn English and I think that this app it's too useful to learn this language. Also I checked Portuguese and Spanish courses (I'm native from Spanish language) and courses are great in my opinion. After English I want to start learning Mandarin Chinese because it's one of the most important language in the world speaking about science and working, I know around 100 Chinese characters and I really want to learn this language and get level HSK5 (getting HSK6 will be great 😅) I know that using Busuu to learn Mandarin Chinese I won't get this levels, but here in Mexico it's too expensive buy good material for self-study language program (internet courses, other premium apps, books, etc) and I'm sad for that. I'm going to try Busuu and then I'll buy some books to improve Chinese language, I'll have to save some money. 😅 Great video, take care! Greetings from Mexico! 🇲🇽
Have you checked out Mandarin Corner's podcasts on UA-cam? They're great and can even give you insights to Chinese culture/modern events! I watch them regularly too:)
Korean major here, and perhaps I'm a year late, but I think I can help you. Talk To Me In Korean has all of their main coursework FOR FREE on their website. Just make a free account and you can gain access to the levels, as well as a podcast so you can listen along. You just need to know hangul or at least know how to read it.
我也学习中文和用Busuu. I have Drops, Busuu and Chineasy and premium membership for all of them. Can you also share your thoughts about Chineasy, if possible? Thank you, 多谢了!
Does anyone have any recommendations for apps that don't just focus on vocab but also on grammar? I try to do a lot of immersion, and I find that I can easily pick words out of the sentence, but I have no idea what is being said because none of these apps teach grammar, just vocab.
That's a good compliment that an app is "too advanced", since a lot of language learning apps (or really every app) are said to be only beginner level. So you complete the full course, then you go and travel to the country and you can't even hear where one word begins and another ends, let alone understand the meaning.
For me, I can do voice exercises but video chatting is premium. I don't mind it. I like getting feedback on my pronunciation & grammar through exercises alone, plus it's good for beginner grammar, etc
Hey! It's been two years since this review and a lot has changed in the Chinese course, would you like to update it? Because I feel that nowadays it is a pretty good way to introduce yourself in the language and people who watch this video will most likely avoid using the app, plus now it is completely free! Greetings from Spain
Hi, how are you doing? Please can you retry the app. I just started learning Chinese this week because I need to take the HSK 3 exam by November (cos of urgent life circumstances). So I would like to know how far I can do with Busuu. Thank you very much
oh boy yeah, their chinese course was a desaster! but the good news is: they remastered the whole course and it's actually a course now, with grammar and everything. just ye the audios are still horrible sadly xD
Thanks for your videos. Im italian. Im training to learn chinese. Im using super chinese aplication and i think is quite good. But I dont now about pronunciation. What do you think about?
I don't know about that. The Duolingo course lets you have both pinyin and hanzi, which helps immensely. They also have a setting to have pinyin only for new words which is nice and obviously another setting to turn pinyin off completely. It's good to have the ability to have both pinyin and hanzi. I also like that Duolingo introduces hanzi right away where as busuu doesn't introduce it right away and you can't have both pinyin and hanzi it seems.
I’ve really wanted to learn Japanese but I’ve only done 4 lessons and the 5th won’t let me because it says I need premium and it says the same for all the other lessons except 1, 2, 3 and 4. Do you know how I could use lesson 5 and the other lessons for free and thank you
I dont recommend you learn Japanese on Busuu. Yuta (who's a native speaker if you don't know him) reviewed their Japanese course and apparently it has a lot of unnatural and incorrect sentences
Happy Lunar New Year everybody! 祝大家新年快乐!Hope you guys liked this video and the silly edits I'm trying out :P
The video was amazing, but I'm not trying again this app... Happy Lunar Year for you too!! 🧧🎇
U too
try an app called assimil if you haven't allready
Be careful with Busuu. When you sign up and later you cancel your subscription they will keep charging you. When you contact them they blame you and refuse to give you a refund.
If you have iOS you can fix that
I'm not even trying to learn Chinese (though I am learning Japanese), I just find this dude's videos to be so interesting
Same, I started learning Japanese a couple months ago and that took me down the polyglot UA-cam rabbit hole
I'm using Busuu to learn Japanese and I really like it for learning the basics.
I think it's worth saying that Busuu have completely updated the Chinese course: for example, there's now 97 topics in A1, rather than 46 when you reviewed it, and the topics are all re-ordered. Having buusu, hello chinese I dont see any reason to use Duolingo tbh, could u tell me what duolingo does have, what is missing in other apps?
@@Soreto23 hmm, mostly I just like Duolingo for the amount of repetition/practice that it gives you, you're able to type in Hanzi quite a lot...
@@DavidTheScientist in hello Chinese u also can:)
@@Soreto23 Yeah for sure, I think HelloChinese is great. I also like Fluenz for drilling in speaking exercises...
Nice to know! I've been using it for french and I think it's kinda good, always helps with grammar :)
Your language its self is a whole hustle. Is a whole decade of learning. The developer tried his best.
😂
Thank you for your everything. Im learning Chinese by myself. You're my Teacher and FC.

Have you checked out other apps like Hello Chinese, Duolingo or Lingodeer? I think those are all better than Busuu
@@ABChinese I hadn't heard about those apps (the only one I know is Duolingo). I'm going to try those apps that you're saying! 🙃
Thanks a lot! ✌️
I'm hearing that many apps struggle with Asian languages. As a Busuu user for European languages, it does a great job.
Be well
春节快乐! I would love to hear more about chinese podcast to improve listening comprehension...that's my weak point.
Have you checked out Mandarin Corner's podcasts on UA-cam? They're great and can even give you insights to Chinese culture/modern events! I watch them regularly too:)
I would say that busuu is best for Western languages, but if you wanna learn an Asian language then lingodeer is the best option IMO!
I'm learning japanese with busuu. It is really good. But yeah not all languages are good.
Same, but i do prefer other apps for learning hiragana and katakana
你好! Can you please do a review on Ninchanese 🙏
i would really love if you could go back to HelloChinese and test their speaking exercises since it didnt work like time
Bussu is now much better for europian languages don't know about chineese though but bussu got me to A2 in french in 62 days and now I am learning b1
Can you review Dong Chinese?
What about Lingodeer?
Thanks for this. Can you recommend a website or other learning tool for learning something like Mandarin, Vietnamese, or Korean?

I love the HSK 1-5 app it is the best I have used. can you please do a review of the HSK app?
Does the app go by a different name? I'm having trouble finding it and I would love more resources. Thanks!
Thanks for the info!
Ur videos help me alot 👍
I tried Busuu as a teen for learning Russian. Grammar, live video chat, voice etc were all premium. F Busuu man.
For me, I can do voice exercises but video chatting is premium. I don't mind it. I like getting feedback on my pronunciation & grammar through exercises alone, plus it's good for beginner grammar, etc
There's a lot of free platforms for video chat and voice chat - HelloTalk, Tandem... probably more, but I only use those two.

I'm at A1 jp and trying to get to B2 by 2023
Why click bait 😓
How was it clickbait? It really was the worst app I tried...
@@ABChinese yeah I got that after watching the whole thing😅😓 (I made a comment when I played the video)
oh haha, but do tell me if you feel like anything else is clickbait-y!
i got busuu ad

Busuu is not free, unfortunately
It's not free but you can watch videos to unlock the other lessons. That's how it is for me at least
I pay for mine and it's honestly worth it. it's not that expensive and they usually have deals going on

Some languages are scheiße, but if its anything but Russian Arabic and Chinese and maybe a few others it's a language learning orgasm
