  • In this lesson, you’ll learn how to say members of family in Japanese! In Japanese, the way to address your own family members and someone else’s family members are different. You’ll learn the both ways as well how Japanese speakers call their family members when they speak to them!
    e.g. Aniki (used when a younger brother calls his elder brother)
    There are two main parts in this video:
    1) Japanese Listening Practice with a story (without subtitles)
    2) Listening the story with subtitles and explanations!

    2 weeks into Japanese language and have been coming across many videos saying not to learn it or that is a waste of time. On the other hand I'm happy to find videos as helpful as this one, the editing and animation are great and the sound so clear, learning 3 languages at once and I'm having fun.

      Who says it’s a waste of time? So sad. Learning any language is a great skill and resource it opens, your mind, heart and soul and brings you many opportunities and opens so many doors. Just don’t ever give up!

    I haven’t started learning japanese but I watch a lot of Japanese media and anime to the point that I can understand what they were saying without subtitles, im honestly proud of myself

    lol honestly understanding everything without subtitles really makes me feel good lol, even if extremely basic and simplified, its a good feeling to understand a language that you are learning within some media.

    The explanations were incredibly clear and complete, and letting us watch the story first with no subtitles gave me such a rush when I was able to understand clearly what was happening on my own only to then learn even more nuanced I missed

    I am learning japenese and recently learned hiragana and katakana. I am stuck now weather to learn kanji or grammar rules/vocab and here I am. Absolutely loved these stories. I''ll add Japanese subtitles separately, so I need to ask you to turn on and choose Japanese subtitles at first to see them though.🙏 When I have time, I'll be also adding Japanese subtitles to the first part of other Japanese listening practice videos which were already uploaded!     I love that you used kanji, I want to get comfortable and familiar with kanji as a beginner and don't want to be coddled by hiragana for the kanji so this is excellent! I love that you also provided English subtitles after the first initial listen. If English subtitles are given right away I feel like i dont get the chance to test my comprehension so I love the format you used!

    I’ve been learning kanji and vocabulary for a while now, but I haven’t really felt like I’ve learned anything. Putting it in this context and explaining the situational differences really helped understand what I’ve been learning a lot better. I was able to follow almost everything without the subtitles, but with the kanji on screen to jog my memory it was very easy. Arigatou gozaimashita!

    This is absolutely perfect for beginnger listening practice! The pacing is easy enough to understand, but not TOO easy where it doesn't feel natural. It is not overwhelming and includes a lot of useful vocabulary with great explanations! This has made me more confident and excited to learn because I can see my progress.
