Thankfully, I was able to figure them all out before finishing my first game. Fantasy Flight's DOOM, on the other hand...It's my favorite board game, but it's a B!TCH to learn (and doesn't help that the tutorial only uses half the rules).
That's all I needed to know, thank you. That was something the video should've addressed off the bat with the figures and cards, but I guess this is just another bad review. The new mechs are honestly shit, too. I like this game, but there's nothing more I hate in expansions than not adding additional players. Why can't every expansion be like Cosmic Encounters'?! Those guys get it!
My friends and I really like Starship Samurai, but it is the only board game I have that I can say has area control mechanics. What are some others that you would recommend? Thanks in advance!
Maybe not everyone wants a game with a rulebook that requires a week to learn or constant referral to and/or hundreds of tokens you'll have to dump out and sort every time you want to play. More complex =/= better.
@@gunslingergirl2579 I agree, complexity doesn't make a game better. But there are less or equally complex area control games with player combat like Starship Samurai that I think are way better. I think Inis is a great example!
@@brandonkelbe Hey friend, Lords of Hellas, Blood Rage, Ankh, Clockwork Wars, War of Whispers, The Godfather. Then you have area majority games like Iwari, Ethnos, Dune: Imperium.
Glad they're making new content for the game, but honestly, I was really hoping this had coloured rings for the bases.
Can't believe they didn't add colored rings.
I'm sticking with my solution, then: colored cubes on the bases.
You can 3D print them.
@@westcoastavengers1 You'd have to buy a 3d printer first. That's a terrible solution.
What I do is just use colored poker chips (Red, Green, Blue, Blk) easy fix! 😋
unbelievable.
Just replayed the core game after seeing I got 2 rules wrong. Now I REALLY enjoy it and want to get this expansion.

@@gunslingergirl2579 I sold Descent 2nd Edition for that reason and that Campaign play wasn't really doable in 2019.
I love this game!
but no new ship cards?!?
This content is too small to justify a whole expansion. They didn't even add a 5th player or additional planets.

Right?? I just learned about this and can't believe they didnt add new ship cards... And only two mechs? That's not a lot... Ouch.
Starship Samurai fell totally flat for me. There are many, many better area control games.

@@calvinholt5630 2 comments and you list 1 example. Nice.

Maybe cmon should've made this game. Would've come with colored bases, 5 6 player expansion and lots of cool ks exclusive mechs
