For some unknown reason, UA-cam would not show, numerically, that I had given your video a "like." For the record - I liked! 😃

HA! oh well...I do seem to have various issues with UA-cam at times. Thanks for the like though!

Great workmanship. Were you tempted to make a copper feather or something to put inside the copper spiral? The flapwheel spiral is a useful technique, I'll give that a try.

Thank you. I did consider putting something more intricate inside, but that center post gets twisted as well. Not noticeable when it's just a post to help keep the spiral on center. I've some ideas for future options though, if I can figure out a good way to keep centered and replace the post. The flapwheels work pretty good, but I find it helpful to wear a groove in the flapwheel with a scrap chunk of metal first. That gives the wand a place to ride. Best of luck and thanks for watching! :D

I liked and this wand looks AMAZING. The best part of this video is the chair behind you at your lathe. As a fellow woodworker I can totally relate to as why that chairs there.

Thank you, and yes, having that little chair is a necessity. I did try not to get one that was too comfortable though, otherwise if it's nice enough outside, my 10 minute break waiting for something to dry or set ends up being an hour long. LOL

@@mythimpressions TOTALLY CAN RELATE. LOL. Waiting for finish or glue to dry is perfect nap times.

I got it at Woodcraft. It was a bit of an impulse buy, cuse I had been contemplating one and saw this in the store. It had the small bearings I wanted so it would work on thin spindles, but I didn't realize it would be such a pain to set up and use. It's made to fit multiple types of lathe, but that means 2" spacers are needed for different lathe heights. Since mine is big, I have to use both cast iron spacers which are heavy and a pain to mess with multiple loose parts. Also, the bold used to clamp it down is not well designed. Aside from being hard to get to between posts, it's oversized and I have to use a large tractor wrench to snug it up...something I doubt most hobby woodworkers have laying in the shop. Maybe I should do a review on it and explain the issues I have so other first time buyers will have an idea what to think about before spending the cash. LOL

@@mythimpressions I would love that review. I appreciate this rundown.
