I was very sad about that one time, and I have a very huge family, but never felt like I belonged, they hated me. One day I was crying at work, which was in our church, and a member came in and ask me what was wrong. I said, I’m just sad, my family hates me no matter what I try to do for them. I think it was highly unlikely that a 34 year old woman died of a heart attack and the fact that CL didn't even have the decency to attend the mother of his children's funeral suggests that he had something to do with it.

Aretha was a victim and she lived in shame for something that wasn’t her fault. She didn’t want to judged by this cruel world. She suffered from much rejections, abandonment, molestation and self hatred. This was something that was said long ago and it was strange that him being a preacher he didn’t even bring law enforcement into it considering Aretha was a kid herself. My parents said the same thing about Aretha dad being the father of her child. My parents were born 1920s and they been saying this since I was a child. My oldest sister was born in 48 and all my older siblings and relatives been saying this about her father. .

I'm probably a bit older than you, and I can tell you that nearly everyone in my adolescent growing era knew Aretha's life was no bed of roses.
Her failed romances and turmoiled life was front story news in the "JET" Magazine, and other 'black/negro' journals. It was reported that her arm was broken by her significant other during a domestic disagreement (I was probably ten or eleven years old at the time and I remember that news account).

FINALLY!!! This topic I have wondered about for so many years! I've always thought he fathered her children. She was always with her father and how would she be allowed the freedom to go out and mess around with any boys her age? I once heard Aretha give a radio interview to NPR’s Terry Gross. Aretha rarely gave interviews. I can understand why. Aretha created a fictional story of her life that she began to believe as true. She deleted from her memory the circumstances of her first two pregnancies. She deleted her alcoholism and treatment. The Franklin family pledged to conceal Aretha’s private demons of jealousy and deceit. Her public image would have been ruined. Times were different. People who knew the facts abhorred the notion if airing one’s dirty laundry.
